DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

Hello out there!

OK, so I am now thinking about trying to plan a dinner somewhere for DS when we go down in May. Katie - need your advice / thoughts from what you've read on the Restaurant boards! We're staying at SSR for the first time...should we try something there or I was thinking about going over to DTD and trying T-Rex! I read that they do not take ADR's tho and the menu looks $$$. But the pics of this place look really cool - wonder what the wait time will be like over Mem. Weekend? Heck, I'm worried about the crowds at the whole WORLD for that weekend. What do you know about it? I just want a TS meal somewhere and want to get him a small cake. Should we try Artist's Palette (sp) at SSR?

Cheri / RJ - what was that place we went into at Epcot (after Katie took off for her lunch ressies)?? I don't know if you guys stayed there or not...we didn't. I think we opted for a cheaper CS lunch somewhere. It looked cool. Can't remember the name tho so I can look at the menu again. What type of food was it?:scared: I don't even know what country we were in...was that still Mexico?:confused3

Help! Where should we go? Is there anyplace else good for a 12 yo boy in DTD or someplace?? I would like to go someplace that offers a discount for the TIW card, AP discount or DVC discount. TIW is prob. the best % but whatever. I gotta have a discount!:rotfl:

OMG!! AFTER I write this freaking letter and point out that DS is never sick and I mail it to the principal DS gets sick! I noticed he was coughing a lot yesterday but didn't concern myself too much with it. He didn't complain of anything else. Then we went out to see Coraline last nite & about 30 min. into the movie he announces he has a horrible headache and lays his head on my shoulder! As soon as he told me he had a headache I gave him 1 Motrin. Then 15-20 min. after that he says his stomach hurts & he thinks he's going to be sick. So then DH takes him to the bathroom "just in case" and then he comes back & says we gotta go 'cuz he's really pale!:headache: So we get home & he lays in his bathroom floor for awhile & eventually makes himself throw up then he says he still has a headache but his stomach feels better & wants to eat. So then I gave him 1 Excedrin Migrane & he seemed to perk up even more & then I made him some Mac & Cheese ('cuz that's what he wanted to eat).

(Oh, then I remembered him saying on Fri. am that he had a stiff neck...but he didn't complain about anything else so I didn't worry about it.) By the time he went to bed last nite he seemed 100% OK again. So I thought OK, whatever it was it passed. Now this morning he was coughing again a little & his cheeks were flushed so I just took his temp because he was supposed to have swim practice at 11:30 & I wanted to see how he was & his temp is 101.6!!:scared: Holy crap! What's wrong with my kid?! Is it the flu? Is it Meningitis? I think he was vaccinated agains that last year maybe? We both had flu shots in Oct.:headache: Oh Man! Now I'm paranoid 'cuz he's never sick!! I seriously have never had to deal with a chronically sick kid!! Now I feel like a real idiot that I said he's never sick...and will REALLY feel stoopid if he's still sick tomorrow and has to miss school!!!! OMG. :scared1: I jinxed my kid into being sick!

I pulled out a copy of the attendance policy. It says that vacations are unexcused and they may not be permitted to make up missed work!!! Very strict here once they're out of Elem. School! When he was in Elem. School I think I could do that. I could just be honest about it. But not in MS...diff. rules. That's why I am hesitant...but holy crap. It's for his BIRTHDAY present and is instead of a party. I grabbed the studio and am pacing about booking the airfare... I wanted DH to check at his work first to be sure it's not a problem...but am afraid the air will change while I wait!
Annie-
this is my unsolicited opinion: "unexcused absences" do not go on the infamous permanent record. I really don't have a problem with taking kids out of school at this age for just a few days. But then, I don't get all excited about a lower grade if it's a good reason (like a family trip). Now where I live, parents get their knickers in a twist if their kids aren't in 3 AP classes and the rest Honors classes. That is waaaay to pushy/helicopter parenting for me. In my never-to-be-humble opinion, kids have to grow up too fast as it is.

 you know, i wouldn't prattle on about such things if i wasn't lookin' for everyone's input!!! i just feel like such a putz that i've jinxed the poor boy and now he's SICK for the first time in 2 years!! as soon as i drop a letter in the mail to the principal bragging at how he's not missed a day yet, blah, blah, blah!! :sad2:  at last check at 5:00 his fever was up to 102.:headache: am alternating between advil and tylenol and am doing cold compresses on his forehead. he tried to go back to bed for a little while & lay down but just kept coughing so no real napping action. i've got him drinking LOTS OF FLUIDS. like every time i see his glass is empty i fill it back up with something!

how is he feeling today? I'd rather be sick than have one of the kiddos ill.

I hope hes feeling better today.
I see you booked your meals...what did you go with?

As I'm sure most of you saw, Jet Blue screwed with my flights again. Now instead of getting in at 10:24 we get in at 12:40...there goes our 1 day. So, my original plan was to do the couples massage at the Dolphin on our arrival day. I scrapped that and booked the cabana massages at CC. I did it early though so we dont miss much beach time.

DS goes up then down with this flu. During the night his temp was 102.5 but then this AM it was 99.9, then 99.5 then 98.6 then back up a bit to 99.9 and then was at 101.something at 4:15 just before we went to the doc. He was complaining so much about his throat I just wanted to get him tested for strep to be sure he didn't have that too. The "quick strep" was negative but so I guess he'll be home another day until this temperature stays steady & his throat feels better. I keep making him gargle with warm salt water and give him losenges. Still alternating with Tylenol & Advil. I just hope he's ready to go back to school on Wed. I don't want him missing any more.

Ummm...dinners... Booked Sat. nite at T-Rex in DTD for his birthday dinner. They are owned by the same people who own Rainforest Cafe so I couldn't get a Disney cake...they will give him a complimentary sundae or something. Then I booked Wolfgang Puck Cafe for Monday nite. I am not sure if we'll keep that one or do a CS dinner at SSR or AK tho. I think the menu looks good from what I saw on Allears.net. But we'll play our time by ear. So, just the 2 ressies since it's such a quick trip. Sunday nite is evening EMH at MK so we'll just grab something there. Also, no plans for Fri. nite. There are EMH's at Epcot that nite so maybe we'll eat at that food court by Soarin' or we liked that CS place in Morocco...I don't know. But something CS. Our flight is supposed to land at MCO at like 4:15 - so I figure a couple hours to get to SSR then we'll head out. Who knows what kind of mood we'll be in. I don't even know yet if we're doing ME or what. That's the easiest for sure but leaves DH w/o his beer!!!:rolleyes1

How's Kate by now? DS is still coughing & his voice sounds like he's losing it but his fever broke over nite & I think he feels A LOT better today. He took a shower while ago - love it when he's shiny clean!:goodvibes He was gettin' grungy lookin'.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATE!!!:wizard:

I hope you are doing something fun for your big day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!!

And add us to the list of sick kids. Leetle Pirate started throwing up yesterday at 5 pm. So far today just a fever - no throwing up. Which is good for me. I hate throwing up.

Looks like its gonna rain here. Yippee. Ugh.

At least that will take care of riding lessons today.

Hope everyone is feeling better!

Oh and Annie - you crack me up. A pay phone!?

And Cheri - I too constantly look at the private school option. Not too sure what the new administration will do with their nationalization of everything. I know for Ryan Montessori program would not work. She needs a little more direction. I am still thinking she would do better in a smaller classroom. Ryan that is.

And your neighbors would die here - only 1 of 13 3rd graders were "advanced". Now if thats not teaching I don't know what is. One kid. out of 13. How hard can it be to teach 13 kids -?????

OK don't get me started.

And let me guess...that one is our little Miss McPeep, right?? You must look at it that where she is now is only temporary, right? She would be in a diff. school later, right? This is not where you are going to build, right??? Right???

Sorry to hear leetle pirate is sick!! THAT is the worst!!! It's funny. Being sick and my Mom taking care of me is a memory that never seems to fade. The cold washcloths...the ice chips...the waiting on me hand & foot (for like a DAY).

OK, now, on to happier thoughts....

Happy Birthday Kate!!!party: :bday:

(How old??)

I can go on and on about this as well. I'm sick of Cas being looked down upon because she isn't the "prodigy" these kids seem to be.

We finally decided on the private school issue. Just haven't told the girl that the answer is "no". Chris said "with the economy going the way it is, it's just not smart to lay out that kind of money right now." Now, for Chris to say this... things must be going to get reeeeeally bad. I hope that for once, just once, he is wrong.

Sickness still reigns here. Dougie is home today. I'm still sick and the wee one woke up with a stomach ache (mean old mom made her go to school anyway)

...and now most important of all...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!!!:cheer2:
have lot's of :cake:

Mean Old Mom!

Is it Friday already!? Wow time flies.

Not too many people posting here now that FB has taken over.

Hope everyone is well!

OK, I have a funny peep story for you all. :lmao:

Colton needed to write a paragraph about a funny event for homework the other night, so what does he write?

(the condensed version)

Last year I went on a Disney Cruise, I met some new friends, we stopped at Castaway Cay, they dunked me with ice water...ROFLMAO!!!

I hope everyone has recovered by now. I am counting my lucky stars, we have had a pretty good winter so far, as far as sickness is concerned.

it was 80 this morning..suppose to be in the 30's tonight!!

how hit me over the head and dragged me to Boston???

LOL! No, if you were in Boston you would be buried under a foot (or more) of snow. Yep, another snow day here. UGH!
