DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

Katy and I are having quality Grandmother/Granddaughter days:banana: I NEVER go to movies but I have been to two since she has been here. Yesterday she spent the afternoon in the pool. I just sat under the umbrella and read. Last week we saw The Tale of Desprereaux--very cute. This afternoon we went to see Marley and Me-also cute but not for soft hearted people like me. Katy and I both required tissues at the end. We laughed all the way through the movie however. No plans tomorrow because they are supposed to deliver my new kitchen cabinets. Hopefully they will start the destruction next week. I have nearly every thing in my kitchen in boxes, stuffed in the china cabinet, stuffed in drawers and closets so I can't find anything. It looks like it did the day I moved in here. Good way to clean out cabinets and tossing things that have gotten pushed back for months and are no good anymore.:scared1:

Youre killing me Anne! The pool? :faint: I am soooo jealous. It is snowing like a you know what out there right now and we are supposed to get 8 inches by tonight. Good luck with the kitchen.

Annie, I'm not sure. I had heard that, then 180 again, then 90 again, so I really have no clue at this point. I do agree...even being a compulsive planner, 90 days was perfect. I think 180 is way too much and probably part of the problem of double bookings and people changing constantly, etc....

Yep, the kids dont go back until after Labor day. It seems really late this year, so I was hesitant to book, but we should be back in time.

OH Katie!
They had Boston on the news this morning..you are getting zero tonight!!

UGh! And would you believe thousands of crazies will be out in Boston for First Night. My niece had been planning on going in, but I don't know if that has changed. You couldnt pay me to go into that craziness, nevermind the cold. My neighbor is having his birthday party today so there are about about 10 kids outside in this freezing cold snow playing football right now.

Anyone have any big plans for tonight?

yeah..my big plan is drinking some Cinzano Asti that the "Good Fairy" bought me and steak and shrimp!!

Hola Peeps!

I ended up going next door last night around 10:45 to take care of Bethany. My neighbor asked me to go over as the girl stopped answering her texts. First, she indicated she was there. Then she just stopped. The dog was REALLY thirsty when I let her out. We went for a walk, played with the Russian dog (neighbors) & got a # 1 and a # 2 out of the way. Then she scarfed down a couple scoops of food. This girl finally came home around 11:30 I guess. (Right after I came home.) I had left her a note so then she came over here and rang our bell to say "I'm home". At 11:35 at night.:headache: DS said he did not hear it tho. But really, she must not be the brightest bulb in the pack. She said she had gone to Bethesda to babysit. The couple was supposed to be home by 8:00 but ran late and she couldn't leave the kids. Uhh...ya think?:sad2: But Debbie gave her my number...just in case something like this came up. She should've called me and shouldn't have lied to Debbie. So I wonder how TONIGHT will go?!:confused3 She is over there with a guy right now...

Anne - Jared read the Marley & Me book last summer (the kids version) so I am planning to take him to see the movie on Friday (he has no swimming so it's a good thing to do to finish up the week). I heard it's quite sad tho.

Katie - oh BRRRRR Girlfriend! We are not as cold but we have sustained 50 mph winds so it FEELS very cold. We are supposed to get down to about 20 tonight. The front door is whistling again with all this wind!:scared: Of course today was trash / recycling day so everything is blown ALL OVER THE PLACE and I keep seeing trash cans and recycling bins blow by the house. I came home from swimming to about 8 beer bottles, 2 beer cans, 3 coke cans, 3 water bottles and a couple 2 liter bottles of soda in our yard. There is stuff EVERYWHERE out there. I see a pine tree broke in half in the yard behind us.

We have no plans for NYE (since my neighbor who always makes the plans is in Cancun! LOL). I was thinking about ordering Chinese...then I found a couple of Rib Eyes on sale at the store yesterday & figured with the sale those would be even cheaper...so we will have those with baked potatoes & I have some leftover broccoli casserole from the other day. Tomorrow we eat traditional "good luck" type fare all day. Pork. Lots of pork (supposed to symbolize prosperity and abundance) and legumes (beans symbolize money and prosperity). So I am making Eggs Benedict for breakfast (Canadian Bacon). I got a big pack of spare ribs & some sauerkraut to make for dinner. Also got some lentil soup for lunch with grilled cheese sandwiches. Debated about making Texas Caviar but decided to go with lentils instead. All supposed to help with luck and prosperity. Goodness knows we need it, right. This has been a doozey of a year!

What a good grandmother! Good luck with the kitchen demo. Be sure to post pictures when it's finished.

Annie- I always worry about pets when their owners ask "young adults" to watch their furry friends.

Bets- did Rick already drink the wine I sent or is that on tap for tonight?

Katie- I am jealous! This is the first year since 2002 that we didn't have a Disney vacation of some sort planned. :sad1: How lucky you are to be relatively close... but then there's that zero degree weather.... Phyllis needs to rethink that last statement. Especially since it was 70 here today. Not pool weather like at Anne's but it's coming. Dang! I was starting to like the rain (what a great excuse to curl up on the couch with a good book)
HAPPY NEW YEAR PEEPS!!!

Hey, anyone else watching the Disney marathon on Travel Channel? I know how exciting is my life? But people are texting in messages and they are being shown on the bottom of the screen. I swear someone just sent in one to the Peeps! I was all excited but then saw the names and realized it wasnt us. :(

Happy New Year to all since I probably wont be back before midnight (our time)!!!!!

Morning peeps!! Happy New Year!!:dance3: Yay! That dreaded 2008 is GONE Baby! Gone! We had a late dinner, watched some old movie on TV then caught poor old Dick Clark's last 20 minutes or so. I dozed in & out (per the norm) all the way until about 1:00 am.:rolleyes1 Couple glasses of Shiraz and I am out like a baby!:rotfl:

Well, today is our official "take the tree down and undecorate the house day". Got my spareribs & saurerkraut in the crockpot for dinner...

Oh, BTW, Phyllis - that girl staying next door is a grownup 20-something...probably close to 30!!! Divorced...drivin' around in a fairly new Tahoe...so she should KNOW BETTER!! The winds have died down so I DID see her outside already this morning picking up the trash & recycling that had blown into their yard so that's a plus that I don't have to look at that until the neighbors get home on Sunday! I was surprised she was out there doing it already since it's still like 20 degrees out there and there was so much it was like a 20 min. job. But good for her. I guess.:confused3

OK...off to do my next project....

:sad2: Found airfare on AirTran from BWI to MCO for Sun-Thurs in April over spring break this morning for only $148!! We still have a $112 credit from AirTran coming to us that needs to be used up SOON...so that would ONLY BE $332 for all 3 of us after the credit! OMG. That is SO-O-O tempting is it not??

As my mother always says to me when I tell her about a good deal....How can you afford not to go??? ;)

Oh and Cheri, you know you can always pop into DL any time, so don't be too jealous of me. We either have to fly for 3 hours(plus airport time, and delays, etc...) or drive for 24 hours to get to WDW. Plus you dont have snow! :headache:

Yeah we can head up to Disneyland often if we feel up to the crowds. However, there ain't no Beach Club, Stormalong Bay, Epcot (and the drinkies therein) and most importantly... there ain't no Peeps! As we've visited more and more, we find that it's the time together that counts the most - no offense Mickey we'll always love you (and Stitch)

Well, obviously we have issues about affordability down here...but it's settled. I just checked Caskbill's Resort Availability thread and there are no studios open ANYWHERE for April 5-9. I figured as much at this date and I would only go if we could stay on points this time. No more cash ressies.:goodvibes God I want to buy more points before everything goes up on Jan. 15.:sad2: It's a real pisser!

Well, we just got back from seeing Marley & Me. I was going to take DS tomorrow...but he decided he would like for ALL of us to go. We ate a really late breakfast & I had planned on making grilled cheese sandwiches with Havarti on Italian bread along with Lentil soup for lunch....BUT....we opted to skip lunch & go for a LARGE bucket of buttered popcorn instead!:rolleyes1 DS had a $10 giftcard to the theater he got for Xmas. I snuck waters in my big purse so by hitting the matinee it only ended up costing us $21. NOW, I need to go make something to go with my spareribs & get dinner on the table...

Hey all!! Another West Coaster checking in!!:cool1:

Happy New Year!!

Hi!! Phyllis!! Replied directly to your test message hoping it might go through. Guess I gotta add internet to my crackberry so I can text you.?? Bets - that secret way of texting Phyllis - you send that like an email right?

Cold and foggy here 40 degrees. Tried to get RJ to visit me today but she said she would rather do her laundry. Whatever. Told her she could come and do mine or even my dishes but she turned me down cold. :snooty:

Internet not up and running at my locale so using MIL computer. House selling is a nightmare. Seems the deal might be falling through unless we are willing to kick 11K into the deal. Seems in the time between their offer being written and the house being appraised the real estate market in Tracy took another nose dive.:sad2:  Not right I tell you. So I will be booking no WDW trips in the near future.

Maybe Phyllis will meet me at Disneyland....

well, my handy iphone has now allowed me to send messages to miss phyllis with no problem..I even sent her a drinky picture last night!! Very exciting!!

Hi Gert! Miss ya!! Hope the deal with the house works out (esp. now that ya'll MOVED OUT!):scared:

Nice siggie Betsy!:thumbsup2 Looks sharp! How did ya do all that?:confused3

So I have been having this beeg pain in my right arm/shoulder lately. I am self diagnosising (is that a word?)...I think it might be my rotator cuff. Online home remedies include icing it for 15 min. periodically. So I am sitting here with an ice pack tucked into my sweatshirt sleeve. BRRRR. I did it last nite b4 bed too...I am not digging the cold thing!!:sad2: I suppose I need to do it on a more regular basis too. :headache: I have been taking Aleve, Motrin & Arthritis Strength Tylenol pretty regular too. Not much relief from all that. You would think 2 Aleve & a Motrin together or 2 EST and an Aleve together would do something, right. Not on this pain. It was really, really hard today to help DH carry the Xmas tree out of the house. I could not lift very high. A few bushes got in the way.:rolleyes1 I do not have a sling. That was another suggestion online (keeping it immobile). Can you get those at the drugstore???:confused3

one of my bridey friends made it for me..isn't if great!!

Oh No! I hope things work out with the house. 11K??? Yikes! Good to hear from you though.

Yes, Betsy, love the pics! Beautiful! :thumbsup2

Ok Annie, that is too weird. I have that same pain. I'm blaming it on work and sitting on the computer all day, with my arm up to be on the mouse. Seriously! When I was away and not on the computer all day, it got so much better. Its not too bad during the day unless I move it certain ways (I have limited motion I guess), but when it kills is at night. I've been waking up with pain and I can't get it comfortable. It hadnt been too bad but then last week I shoveled 1 day and the next 2 days it killed. Its kind or strange how it comes and goes. :confused3 I hope yours feels better.

 2 peeps with arm/shoulder pain! Hummm...with mine it seems I can only be comfortable at night if I stay on my back and keep it supported, which is better for my back too. But no way I can sleep on my right side bcuz it's my right arm. And if I happen to roll onto my left side it wakes me up 'cuz it's like there's no support for the arm/shoulder and as soon as the darn thing has no support it sends this shooting pain that wakes me up. Literally a pain in the neck!:rolleyes1 I also think that I get a lot of my aches and pains from sitting here in one place too much.:confused3 Rotator cuff injuries (if that is my problem) are from repetitious things (swimmers, tennis players & ball players have problems with it). Since I do none of those things I have no idea what I could've done to it.:confused3 But from what I can tell it seems the most likely thing. I hope yours feels better soon too!
