DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

I would rather fly also but she lives in one of those weird "once you fly you still gotta drive" spots. So we would fly to San Diego and drive another 2 hours. We have flown before though. It is definitely easier - but not this time.

Thread has definitely been quiet. I will attempt to bump us before I leave -

Everyone have a great weekend!!

Have fun!:goodvibes Drive safe!

congrats to my leelte Johnnie. She sent me a text to let me know (she loves her Auntie Phyllis doncha know:thumbsup2 ). I hope I didn't offend her when I asked if I should be afraid to share the road. Living next to a high school, I gotta say that teen drivers are :scared: . But I know our Johnnie will be great.

Uh oh, looks like Mr. Beano is gonna be buying another car. Oh, Uncle Bubba!...

Congratulations, Kimmy!!! Enjoy your new freedom, but BE CAREFUL! (sorry to be an old fart, but its my duty as a mom)

Johnna and RJ, have safe trips and enjoy your time away.

Not much going on here as we are between soccer and BBall seasons. DH decided to coach a BBall team this year(Cams, not Colts), so he has the draft tomorrow. Lets hope he does better this time. :rotfl2: I think I will finally have some time to get my summer clothes out of my closet. UGH! I hate that job!

Annie have a good time at the reunion. Because of your comment I want to ask everyone's opinion. Do you think a spouse is obliged to go to a HS reunion? Or conversly, is a spouse obliged to bring their spouse?
Discuss...

No, a spouse isn't required to bring anyone. Especially if the "reunion" spouse is going to be reliving stories of yesterday. Is the "non-reunion" spouse required to go? In my opinion no, UNLESS the "reunion" spouse really wants the other there. Then you should go.

At my 20 year reunion, one guy showed up and told me his wife was staying up in the hotel room. She didn't know anyone and only came to get out of the NY snow.

At Chris's 10 (or was it 15?) reunion, we were both so bored we left early.

My step-father went to (what was then) an all-boy's school. They finally "invited" wives for the 40th reunion. My mom went and was so bored. The only reason she's going next time is to shop (the school is in NYC).

Has Peter kept in touch with high school friends? If it's just one evening, I would enjoy a quiet evening alone (bath, glass of wine, soft music, etc) - but that's just me and the Peeplettes constantly tell me how wrong I am - so what do I know?

LOL, Cheri! Peter doesnt have reunions. He had a 5th before I knew him, then they planned an 11th. We signed up, paid $100.00, it got canceled, and we never saw the money. Since then they haven't tried again.

It's mine, I'm talking about. Next year is 20! :scared1: I want him to go and I can't imagine telling him no, stay home, but I have some friends who think I should....to the point they (1 in particular)sound mad that I'm bringing him and think I'm totally wrong for it. I know when these girls get together they can be total idiots, so I want no part of that...plus I want a driver, LOL!

I know if he had a reunion and said, he didnt want me to go, I'd be pretty ticked. Theres no way Id do that to him. I actually went to my 5th alone, we were just dating at the time, but looking back I almost feel bad that I didnt bring him.

WHAT??? I didn't HAVE to go tomorrow?!:headache: I agreed tho b'cuz it's an informal BBQ/tailgate thing. If it was a formal dinner type thing I'd have really balked about it for sure.

DH also went to an all-boys school (a Catholic military HS). Well, they allow girls NOW...things have changed ya know.

My class had a picnic at 5 yrs. and a dinner thingy at 10 yrs (at the bowling alley no less)! They haven't done anything since I don't think. Seems like most people DID bring spouses if they had one to bring...but then again, it was in WV.:rotfl: I was SHOCKED at how people had changed in just 10 yrs. Next year will be 30 years for me! Hummm...wonder if they'll plan anything for THAT one.:confused3

OK, I am having wicked cruise flashbacks today. First I cleand my fridge so I took off all the magnets while I cleaned...all those really cool ones you guys gave us. Then I heard that "Heeeeeeeeehey baby(ooo ah)" song and felt like I was at the Sail Away Party. Now "Come Sail Away" just came on the the radio. SE, I'm so having visions of you singing...and Tim doing his ballet, and Betsy getting up for her twril around the floor, and Chris doing his little thing (that so reminded me of Chris Farley, LOL). Can I just say how happy I am I sailed with all you guys....even if no one is around to hear me today. ;) :grouphug:

You're supposed to CLEAN the frig?!:rotfl: That's funny you mention this tho. Just this morning before school DS looked at the pic that Ophie had that guy take of our group at the entrance to the ship - our first big group shot. Anyway, I have that one on our frig. and he was just commenting on how amazing it was that we had such a big group and that it was cool, blah, blah, blah....:goodvibes AHHH....memories....

If Chris asked me to go to a reunion and then spent all night rehashing "old times", I'd be bored. That's kind of what I was getting at. If someone is not going to enjoy his/herself, let them have an evening to themselves. But I totally hear you on the driver thing though. I ended up staying over night at the hotel where the reunion was 'cuz I was in no shape to drive. The kids were with grandma so Chris had the evening to himself.

Does Peter want to go?

Hi everyone. It is 2:00am here in So. Fl. but this old lady can't sleep so I have been reading and catching up on the e-mail. This is one of the hazards of getting old--kind of like a baby, sometimes we get our nights and days mixed up:laughing: I went to Home Depot this week and bought all new appliances for my kitchen. The designer came out yesterday and measured and after the holidays, they will tear my kitchen apart and start all over again. The new appliances won't be delivered until then. I don't know what the man that I bought this apartment from was thinking, he didn't put in a dishwasher, and he put in formica counter tops. Normally, just me, I don't need a dishwasher, but when I have company, I do. I decided I might as well make it an "Anne" kitchen. I am also going to put in stone counter tops. So I may be pulling my hair out come Jan. when they demolish it. :scared: HD had their appliances on sale 10% off and because I bought 4, I got an additional $300. I can't wait. Too bad I didn't need a washer and dryer because if I had bought them too, it was $600 off.

LOL! I am so happy for Johnnie. I knew she would be more excited about it than Bob was. Beano knows where to find me if that is road is going to go down.

Mornin' peeps!

Wow Anne - sounds like a fun shopping spree! How long do they estimate it will take to re-do your kitchen? You will probably find yourself living on microwaved food for a few days (or eating out)!! I would LOVE to have a new dishwasher...we have this now 8 yr old piece of crap builder grade GE. Only 2 cycles...LOUD...CLANKY...:headache: I usually just only turn it on when we go up to bed at night 'cuz otherwise you have to turn the TV way up and everybody talks loud over it. AND it does not work so good. I would hate to see how the dishes would come out if we didn't pre-rinse!:scared: Sometimes it has this noise (like a vibration)...I give it a swift kick and it stops!:lmao: Oh well. Congratulations on your new project!

Well, the sprinkler system has been winterized...time to grab some cereal & hop in the shower so I can get ready for DH's reunion.

TTYL all!

I hope everything goes smoothly with the kitchen, Anne. And I hope you got some sleep. ;)

I know, Annie, it doesnt happen often, but once in a while I want to find out what color the fridge really is so I take the gazillion magnets, papers, etc... off to wipe it down. ;)

Cheri, Peter is so easy going, if I told him not to come, I'm sure he wouldnt mind (like I would, LOL), but he doesnt mind going either. I think he would look at it as a night out and be glad. At this point we don't even have anything official, but with so many of us being on FB and catching up, my close friends (5 of us who had kept in touch before FB) have been talking about it.

Did I tell you guys? A girl I graduated with, who I hadnt seen since HS, became my friend on FB, and it turns out she is a member of the DIS! How bizarre is that?

happy saturday!
I didn't go to my reunion in 1999 because I had just had Kate..I haven't heard about next years yet, but I think I will go since I have reconnected with a few people with FB

We went shopping today because the last cold front that went through, I had no jeans to wear to work. We went to Sears for a pair of Land's End and I got a 10!! WOO HOO!! I have not been a 10 since 1997!!!

Rick and Nick went to the Miami Auto Show so Kate and I are going to the G's for hamburgers.

Woohoo, Betsy!!! Congratulations! But you are going to melt away to nothing soon. Have fun with the G's.

You CA peeps will be happy. Cam is on UCLA for basketball. :thumbsup2

Hey there peeps!

Way to go Betsy!:thumbsup2

Well, home from our day in the city. I hate driving in DC. The lanes are narrow, there's no turning lanes or arrow lights...oh, and the lights are on the lamp posts & people drive like idiots.:headache: Anyway, DH's reunion was pretty boring...since it was a BBQ type thing it was split about 50/50 between just the guys who graduated and guys w/ families. We went to the game afterward but I wasn't feelin' it. The section they'd roped off for this group was inbetween the band and the student section. We kinda got taken over by the students...too rowdy & loud & obnoxious for me. Teeny Boppers in their too tight jeans, skin tight tops & Uggs who STAND the whole game.:rolleyes1 Hello. That's why the bleachers have a bench to sit on and one to stand on. I am just too old I guess. We left at half time. Not so many of the guys went to the game so the section really got invaded & over run. Oh well. It's done. Over.

Well, catchin' up on some laundry....and am in need of a cocktail!!

We had a good time with the Betsy & "The tennis pro" last night. We had mini burgers, fries, brie cheese & fruit, & some key lime pie. It was pretty good. We worked off some of it with some Wii sports. We bowled, boxed, golfed, played baseball, and played tennis. We need to get a Wii timer though because if you don't keep track of how long you play, you will not know how many hours have gone by....:confused3

Mornin' peeps!

Sounds like a good time was held in FL by all the southern peeps! I am no longer grilling...First, I don't like cooking outside in the dark. Second, I am too much of a wussy to run in & out when it's cold. Third, it just seems like more work or something.:confused3

Well, been lounging around in slow motion this morning...time to get breakfast over....DS's swimming will get here soon...

Supposed to be almost 60 later...still more work to do outside this afternoon (leaves & more perennials to cut). TTYL
