DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

anyone ever seen a clip art of stitch wearing mickey ears?

Glad you are safe, Anne. I keep looking for a trip report from the Wonder but haven't seen anything yet.

Hope Bets, oph and TZM are safe as well.

Annie- Dougie was sore sore sore when he first got his braces on - maybe for 5 or 6 days. I've never heard of facial swelling though  Poor guy. Poor Mama.

No issues here in our neck of the woods. Lots of rain and wind. But our new fence held up and so did our new windows.

He went to bed crying and woke up crying. His right cheek is so swollen I can hardly get my finger in to put the Orajel on! :scared: You can bet I am calling them AT 8:00 when they open! I do not think he should be swollen like this! (Eating is an especially impossible chore!)

Oh no, Annie! The poor kid. I hope they can do something for him.

Glad to hear everyone is holding up ok down south.

You are NOT gonna believe this one!!:headache:

Ortho says we can come in at 9:00. So we get there & he says "Whoa! I think he's having an allergic reaction to the metal!!!" I was like "I'm allergic to metals!!" I can't wear metal frame glasses that have a frame on the bottom that might touch my cheek, costume jewelry (esp. earrings) or metal band watches that are tight on my arm!! He has apparently of all things to inherit, inherited my allergy to metals!!:sad2: So, the doc took all of them off and gave us a peroxide rinse. We go back in 1 week for a re-check and to get the glue removed (he thought it would be too much on him to remove the glue today). If he looks OK in a week then he will schedule us to get them put back on but with a different product next time!! DS is like "But I'm fine with my teeth just the way they are!":rotfl: He is NOT gonna want to go back again!! I don't blame him!! I just knew the swelling was not right!! But of all things, right!? And what a terrible way to find out about it!!

Annie - give him liquid benedryl too!

I gave him a Benedryl pill...don't have any of the liquid...I am hoping it will look better by this afternoon when I pick him up...but we shall see. I know my reactions usually take a couple of days to heal - but those were always topical. I don't know about inside the mouth! :confused3 Ewww, right?!

Sad - we have haircuts today at 4:00 - we went the week before vacation the last time - so that means it's been 5 weeks since vacation.:sad1: MY how time flys!

Oh my gosh!!! Jared has had a rough go of it lately. First the Jellyfish, now this. Yikes!

I was thinking that too about time flying. Just think....4 weeks ago right now we were at Palo Brunch. Somehow my turkey sandwich is not going to cut it today.

Oh Annie! Poor Jared! I hope he is feeling better. When you say new product what is it? Like a ceramic bracket or ??:confused3

My BF has metal allergies also - as does her 13 yo son. He is especially allergic to nickel which means no pants or jeans with rivets or snaps. Most difficult to find. He is currently also battling with a new headgear that rests on his cheeks when he sleeps. They may need to change it out to a surgical steel version.

I hope they can find something that works.

Katie you are funny. Turkey sandwich - try closing your eyes and thinking of a beeg bowl of whipped cream! Or margarita pizza. Might help.

OK who am I kidding. Let's just cruise again - Bets I saw some FL peeps discounts - you book us all and we will pay you back. Will that work!!??

 Betsy's buyin'!!! :rotfl:

I had a salad for lunch...in a plastic box from the grocery store...not quite like the fancy pretty salads I had for dinner some nites...

Gert - I don't know if ortho doc will use ceramic or plastic for the braces...neither are supposed to be as durable as the metal but thankfully he won't need them for a LONG period of time. He said something about trying to place the arch wire carefully so that it's not touching (they are usually made of either nickel or stainless)...but I was just looking up some stuff online...I would rather he use nothing metal so this conversation will be continued when we go back next Wed. for the glue removal. I don't want this to happen again! Is your BF's kid wearing like a night brace or something? We have not noticed any problems with rivets or zippers or anything (yet...)

Yes, BFs son wears a headgear of some sort at night. And they noticed the nickel allergy when he was a wee babe - reaction to the snaps on a sleeper.

Give Jared a hug for us - hopefully the worst is now over & you can actually get him back to the ortho for the glue removal and then new brackets.

BUMP!! Hello?! We were on page 2 this mornin'!!!!!!!

How are our FL peeps today??

DS's mouth is a little less swollen today. Not quite all the way 100% yet tho. I hope he's back to normal by tomorrow...

We go to the new school tonight for sort of an open house type thing...cannot believe we're starting Middle School next week already! Will deposit $ in the lunch acct., he needs a PE uniform but I've also heard they can wear any navy shorts & gray or white Tshirt so I will clarify that rumor & maybe see the lockers etc. I don't know. I think there's a short meeting for the parents...where DID I put all those papers that need signed?! Uggg. I know I paid the extra curricular activity fee 'cuz I did that online. But when I was straightening up last week I just sorta threw stuff. :rolleyes1 Now I will have to root around for them 'cuz there's STUFF that needs to be turned in.:headache:

oh yes johnna..i heard..very sad!! My friends over on the DMB boards have been lamenting about it..I have several friends who were at the LA show when Dave announced it..

Glad I'm not alone in this middle school stuff. :scared1: We still have 2 weeks so Im not quite in panic mode, but that will be kicking in soon Im sure. I did find out his teachers and I have had a couple people tell me his main teacher is very hard. One (my hairdresser) was devastated that I said he had this one. I guess she was a nightmare for her DD. Her comments scared me big time.

Middle school! Wow that seems so far away - but I am sure it will be here before you know it! We have Back to School Night tonight. Yippee.

Katie - try not to panic about the teacher. Maybe her DD and the teacher just didn't hit it off. Your DS may think she is the cats meow! I will keep my fingers crossed.

Bets - how is the water damage? Rain over yet? Looks like the Wonder is going out of Ft. Lauderdale today. That would be weird. What if you thought ahead, booked that limo, and were staying at the Radisson - then what do you do??

DD had homework last night - it was a get to know you better kind of thing like the friends email - and one question was "What has been the saddest day of your life" - DD answered - the day you have to get off the Disney Cruise!:thumbsup2

Johnna - they are bussing everyone down to FtL..that means they will be sailing later I guess since they have told people to be at the port by 4pm

Arg so if you are in Canaveral you have to go to the port and then catch a DCL but to Lauderdale??

Kind of a bummer.
