DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

And I even took off my sweatpants & put on some jean shorts this afternoon! I even entertained the idea that if it's almost 80 I could sit outside on the patio tomorrow!:)

Glad the weekend is here so they can close the stock market for a couple of days...is it closed on Monday too for Columbus Day? I hope so. I am tired of watching this train wreck!

Got a lot of cleaning & laundry done today. Still lots to do but made a little dent in it. Oh look! It's after 7:00! Time to go figure out dinner!:rolleyes1

I agree Annie! At first I wasn't really worried, you know, it goes down, it goes up, we have plenty of time, no need to panic. But today they broke into Regis and Kelly, with "breaking news", showing the big board just dropping and dropping by the second, and it hit me how much money we have really lost over the past week. :scared: At this point I have to hope the kids are stupid and dont make it to college and I die young so no need for retirement money. Then we will be fine! :thumbsup2

Well now there's a different way to look at it!:rotfl2: I swear that today, the longer Bush talked the faster the darned thing dropped!:rotfl:

I like to look at the bright side of things. ;)

I'm off to the fields soon. Its nice, the kids have their games in a row today(9:00-10:15), at the same complex. Of course, having the 9:00 game, when you have to be there 8:30-8:45 stinks, but at least it gets them done. Colts should be fun. The coach of this team is a you know what. DH has even talked to a ref who hates him(hes hoping we get that ref today, LOL). We are supposed to have a 5 goal, pull back rule and this guy has won games 8-2, 9-2, etc... I guess his son is really good and he plays him the whole game and other kids dont play, etc... Such drama for 8 year old soccer. At any rate, we expect a killing today.

Mornin' ya'll:wave2:

Hope all the kids have great games today! Those scores sound scary!:scared: I will cross my fingers that it's not that bad!

Waiting for it to warm up...I put my shorts on again this morning when I got up 'cuz it's supposed to get into the upper 70's but I am cold! It's only 51 or so right now....I want to spend some time outside today before I take DS to swimming this afternoon....

A Washington, DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of why
our country is in trouble..

WHY OUR COUNTRY IS IN TROUBLE

1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman ask for an aisle seat so
that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window.
(On an airplane!)

2. I got a call from a candidate's staffer who wanted to go to
Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the
passport information. Then she interrupted me with, 'I'm not
trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts
'

Without trying to make her look stupid, I calmly explained, 'Cape
Cod' is in Massachusetts , Capetown is in Africa . Her response,
'click'.

3. A senior Vermont Congressman called furious about a Florida
package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in
Orlando . He said he was expecting an ocean view room. I tried to
explain that's not possible, because Orlando is in the middle of
the state.

He replied, 'Don't get smart with me, I looked on the map and
Florida is a very narrow state!' (Oh, my God!)

4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife who asked, 'Is it possible
to see England from Canada ?' I said, 'No.' She then said, 'But
they look so close on the map.'

5. An aide for a cabinet member once called and asked if he could
rent a car in Dallas . When I pulled up the reservation, I
noticed he only had a one-hour layover in Dallas . I asked him
why he wanted to rent a car, he replied, 'I heard Dallas was a
big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to
save time.' (Aghhhh!)

6. An Illinois Congresswoman called last week. She needed to know
how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 AM
and got to Ch icago at 8:33 AM. I explained that Michigan was an
hour ahead of Illinois , but she couldn't understand the concept
of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went really fast,
and she accepted that.

7. A New York lawmaker called and asked, 'Do airlines put your
physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage
belongs to whom?' I said, 'No. Why do you ask?' She replied,
'Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my
luggage that said FAT, and I'm overweight. I think that's very
rude.

After putting her on hold for a minute while I looked into it --I
was laughing--, I came back and explained that the code for the
Fresno, CA airport, is 'FAT' = Fresno Air Terminal, and the
airline was just putting a destination tag on her luggage.

8. A Senator's aide called to inquire about a trip package to
Hawaii . After going over all the cost info, she asked, 'Would it
be cheaper to fly to California , and th en take the train to
Hawaii ?'

9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman who
asked, 'How do I know which plane to get on?' I asked him what
exactly he meant, to which he replied, 'I was told my flight
number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.'

10. A lady Senator called and said, 'I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola
, Florida . Do I have to get on one of those little computer
planes?' I asked if she meant she was flying to Pensacola , FL on
a commuter plane. She said, 'Yeah, whatever, smarty!'

11. A senior Senator called and had a question about the
documents he needed in order to fly to China . After a lengthy
discussion about passports, I reminded him that he also needed a
visa.
'Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and I have never
had to have one of those.' I double-checked, and sure enough, his
stay required a visa. When I told him this he said, 'Look, I've
been to China four times and every time they have accepted my
American express!'

12. A New Mexico Congresswoman called to make reservations, 'I
want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York .' I was at a loss for
words. Finally, I said, 'Are you sure that's the name of the
town?' 'Yes, what flights do you have?' replied the lady.
After some searching, I came back with, 'I'm sorry, ma'am, I've
looked up every
airport code in the country and can't find a Rhino anywhere.'

The lady retorted, 'Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it
is. Check your map!' So I scoured a map of the state of New York
and finally offered, 'You don't mean Buffalo, do you?' The reply?
'Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.'

Now you know why our Government is in the shape that it is in,
and who is causing it!

I think that's very
rude.

I knew this one!! I knew this one!! 'Cept now its not FAT its FYI 'cause Fresno went International!!:rotfl:

We are at about 60 now...and everyone was saying how warm that was all morning. :lmao: And that was the good news of the day! Cam lost 3-0...he had 1 really close shot on net though. Colt, well....lets just say we were happy with the 10-1 slaughter. I gotta agree with what I had heard, this coach is a...you know what. With the 5 goal rule, I have seen times when coaches try, telling the kids no more, but the kids are so trained to go to the net and shoot, they still do. It happens, they are kids. This guy was up 9-1 with about 1 minute left and his player had the ball near the net. He was SCREAMING "Shoot it!!! Shoot it!!!!". I'm sorry, but thats wrong! :sad2:

Then for some excitement on our way out we had to walk by our neighbor's game so we stopped to talk. We saw a parent get ejected. :scared1: I've never actually seen it happen before. WHAT is wrong with people?

Then I got to my car (we took 2 cars) and saw the person who had pulled in nose to nose with me, actually hit my car. :headache: No damage luckily.

All this before noon! :faint: There used to be a time Id be just waking up at noon. :lmao:

Hope your game goes better, Johnna!

WOW Katie your soccer day was wwwaaayyy more exciting than ours!!

No ejections, no parking shananigans and 10-1 is uncalled for. I knew our league had a 5 point differential rule. We jumped up 3 -0 pretty fast. So we moved our girls around. We THOUGHT the rule was if you go up 5-0 they will call the game and that's it. BUT NOOOOO....apparently in our league if you go up BY MORE THAN 5 - or in other words if you go up 6 - 0 - YOUR TEAM FORFEITS!!:scared1: And you lose. We had to explain this to our girls at half time.

So that coach in your league would not be so happy. He would be in last place.

We ended up 5 - 0 and our defense played offense pretty much the whole second half. The game was really no fun - we just told our girls to just send the ball into their end of the field or kick in out of bounds. But it gave the girls an opprotunity to play different positions.

OK off to Costco - Blackberry is not working.:headache: Both Thursday and Friday I got a "sim card" error. Today. It just won't even turn on.:confused3 Guess I get a new one!:woohoo:

BBQ with Assistant Coach tonight. His wife is a flight attendant and flies almost every 3 out of 4 weekends. We make sure he and the kids get fed.:thumbsup2 Just kidding he is a great dad. His DD is my DD good friend and she is one of our better players. So it's all good.

OK long enough post for now.:lmao:

Katie, we don't have any "official" rules for scoring but the ref has discretion to "talk" to the coach and "encourage" him to knock it off. The ref can also call the game (meaning it's over) if the score gets too high and the coach isn't doing anything about it. The highest score I think I remember is 7-1. (And I've seen parents and coaches ejected - a lot. Especially the parents who never played soccer and insist a ball was "offsides" - NO ONE understands that rule if you haven't played. Geez)

:lmao: :rotfl2: That is soooooo true.

I did see the police at the soccer fields today "discussing" something with a ref!? I'm guessing something in that game well...um...downhill.

Mornin' peeps!

Well, another gorgeous day on tap here! DH will have a great day to tailgate & watch his Skins! I washed my truck yesterday...MAYBE I'll start workin' outside later this afternoon on my flower beds.:confused3 DS and I are meeting up with my friend & her Grandson for lunch at Fudruckers down in Rockville this afternoon after swimming. We'll see what time I get home.

Gert - I just saw a wildfire on TV in Napa Valley - is that the area where ya'll might move to?:scared:

Have fun today Annie. We are meeting up with DH bestest buddy who is in the area for a wedding. Meeting them at a pumpkin patch about an 1hr from here. Don't fancy his wife much but really looking forward to seeing his baby DS.

Napa - nope. That is west of us a few hours. Fresno is south and just slightly eastish. Maybe.

DH did talk to Gallo. According to them its a done deal. He can start whenever he wants. They have just been busy and have some HR issues. Official make it happen meeting in HR is Monday afternoon. So guess we're moving.

Gotta pull my chair back up to the Gert's Planning BoardTable. Get some balls moving again and gather some more info on the state of the real estate market from our CPA and our trusted real estate/mortgage friend. Kinda gives me that sick feeling in my stomach. UGH.

OK gotta go find something to wear to the pumpkin patch. Not sure I can get those jeans back out of the closet....:rotfl: OK who am I kidding. They are still wadded up on the floor where I flung them the other day.:lmao:

Everyone have a great Sunday!

The threatened part of Napa (St. Helena's) is home to some of the best wineries and some of the most beautiful scenery. I hope they get it contained soon.

There's another fire in Los Angeles. Dry, fierce Santa Ana winds are supposed to kick up this afternoon. Already we've gone from moisture in the air yesterday to dry shock people when you touch 'em air. Not good.

Finally got the palm trees trimmed and cleaned yesterday. Veddy 'spensive but worth it to remove fire danger.

Good Sunday to all!

Well, just home from my beeg afternoon out. DS had a good swim practice (not crowded AT ALL) and they learned out to use the pace clock which was cool.... Met my friend at Fuddruckers & had the 1/2 Lb "Inferno Burger" with sauted onions, jalapenos & pepper jack cheese and onion rings! (Loaded up with all of the additional toppings I could get to stay on it!):rotfl: (insert lip smacking smilie guy here) :goodvibes

We hung out there with my friend for quite awhile then DS and I embarked on more halloween costume shopping. We stopped at Party America yesterday and didn't find anything...So today we hit Party City (which is EXACTLY like Party America) then some other generic party store and then Toys R Us. We had found a costume online with some pigs sewn to a blanket & a "pig head' (Pigs in a blanket ya know). So we were sorta looking for that but no luck...went to Toys R Us lookin' for stuffed pigs. I said I could probably make such a costume...but the only stuffed pigs they had were Gunds! I thought that was a bit much to spend. For all that we could order the $29.99 thing from online and be done with it. So we still have no costume and he has rejected all of my "we could do this, this and this and you could be this" ideas. So after stops at 4 stores and spending an hour online the other day I am feeling quite "done" and "over it" by now.:headache: Halloween may not happen this year!

Meanwhile I have a beeg leak in my pond...losing a lot of water...the neighbors new puppy got on the waterfall the other day...I think she unleveled my waterfall pan. I really should've been futzing with that...but NO-O-O...I was trying to be the good Mom.:sad2:

AND the stoopid Skins BLEW IT!! This one was supposed to be a no brainer!:headache:

Ok Cheri, big game starting up soon. For the next few hours we are enemies. Awww, you know thats not true...ok, only on the field. ;)

Sounds like everyone had a fun filled day. We went to my sisters house for my niece's birthday...ate too much, but had fun. She goes back to college tomorrow.

Hope all the fires get out soon, so there is no danger/threat. Good move on the trees, Cheri. Better safe and out a few bucks, than the alternative. :thumbsup2 Heck, at the rate things are going, its better to spend your money and get something for it than to invest it.

So, I have a funny Facebook story. Yesterday, a girl I graduated with requested me as a friend and I accepted (she had seen me on mutual friends pages). So, I go on and read her profile and what "other group" is she a member of....THIS DIS!!!! OMG, what are the chances? My graduating class was about 120, so pretty small. But even funnier, it turns out she will be down in WDW in Dec when I am there. We hope to meet up.

Mornin' peeps!

They have an "open house" day today at school so I think I should probably go over & slip into a couple of DS's classes for a short time. I THINK if I get there just before 10:00 that I will catch the end of Science then get to go to Math class for a little while...

Then I should go to the grocery store I suppose. Actually, I might wait for tomorrow on that one. That is one errand I truely HATE.... Yeah. I will wait for tomorrow.:rolleyes1 We have 1/2 gal. milk, 1/3 loaf of bread...and a 6 pack of Ramen Noodles... What else do we need, right?!:rotfl:

Happy Anniversary Linda & Sean
