My Mom was missed by most of Gustav...but he did manage to leave a brand new lake behind her house.

They had tornado warnings, but just mostly heavy rains. Her home backs up to conservation land, so there is nothing to contain the water. She thinks it's a foot deep and goes back for about an acre of land.

OK, had to pick DS up early from school for that Ortho. appt. this afternoon. It took a full 15 min. for this process. Well, he had remembered to turn in the note at some point this morning so they knew I was coming. I had tried to drill into him this morning that when he left class he needed to swing by his locker FIRST and pick up his lunchbox and backpack but of course he forgot that. So he came straight to the office with his algebra book and binder and nothing else. So he had to go BACK UP blah, blah, blah. I had PLANNED for this debacle tho and planned for this pick-up process 15 min. earlier than what it should've been. Anyway, the doc decided to just remove the dangling brace & clip the wire back for now. We have to go back in a month (well, our appt. is at 5 weeks). He said he will be able to tell by then if the teeth aren't moving right and if he needs to put it back on.

I have decided that I am a TERRIBLE bookkeeper. I bought this bookkeeping book the other day...I was already behind on recording my receipts. I don't have a CLUE what I'm doing!

I have decided that I am a TERRIBLE bookkeeper. I bought this bookkeeping book the other day...I was already behind on recording my receipts. I don't have a CLUE what I'm doing!

Annie - when I was doing Pampered Chef more seriously. OK at all. The hardest thing to remember to keep track of for me was mileage.

I ended up "google mapping" the places I went the most: the bank, post office/mail boxes etc. and grocery stores. Printed them out, kept them and filed them with my monthly receipts. I was NEVER good at keeping a journal in the car and writing them down as I drove to those places or the kitchens of others. I guess I just zone out and drive. Does this company provide you with billing/ordering software or is it inventory based like Creative Memories? (you keep the product and sell what you have-or you personally order from the company?) Our PC software was really helpful for reports and expense tracking and whatnot.

I have no doubts that you will find a system that works for you.

I bought a little mileage book to write down the odometer readings but I also have been doing the google map thing and just printing it out "to go with". I have a friend who does taxes and she told me I cannot count my mileage to the bank or to Staples etc.!? I always thought that counted...so I don't know. I mean, the bank is 1.5 miles so it's not HOOGE but they've upped the mileage thing to 58.5 cents / mile as of July 1!! So I don't know. I would certainly count it if I could! I need to ask some more questions about that one...

For now, I bought an expanding file pocket thingy that has a larger pocket in the front (so I put my bookkeeping book in that one) and then I so far have sections for receipts (which I am photocopying too and stapling them together 'cuz sometimes they fade and disappear on you) and a pocket for my TS orders...one for bank stuff...one for my website agreement & monthly fees... I am still trying to figure out what I actually "net" after everybody else gets their cut (after TS comes off the top, the bank transfer fees, the credit card fees etc.). (And I am still trying to figure out WHAT to write WHERE in this bookkeeping book! ) TS does have an expense thing on the website but when I printed it out I couldn't get it formatted right or something so it printed out "portrait" style but spread out over 3 pages! Ummm. Not so practical. I wasn't into all the tape to put it together! So I said screw that one and bought this book. And yes, they DO have some monthly and YTD reports I'll be able to print - once I have something out there TO print! Right now, I'm just in the hole! I HAVE had a couple of online orders...but my cut is so small it's going to take a really long time to catch up with what I've spent so far....

Eventually, I'll carry some inventory with me...but for now I am just operating with the samples that came with my kit and hoping for online orders (which I make more % on). I ordered a few extra samples last week along with some credit card forms to use at parties and such but I won't get them until about the 15th. None of this crap is FREE and I cannot afford to have an inventory sitting around until I at least break even with what I've spent so far!! I'm sure you remember what that start-up thing was like! But I WOULD like to have more stuff to try out myself at home. That's really why I went to that meeting on Monday evening that I didn't want to go to...I wanted to try some of the new products! (Did I mention how yummy the "Warm Cheesy Bacon Dip" was? And the "Blushing Cosmos" & Chocolatini's?! )

I received a beach towel for our first gift - the kids don't understand why I won't let them use it. (ok, that's weird, but who knows when I'll get another one. And do they want to use one of the six we bought on CC this summer? noooooooo... That towel is mine. Mine I tell you. Mine mine mine!!! <--- TRM knows what I'm talkin' 'bout here.)

ok, off to clean the patio furniture and scrub down backyard for this weekend's bridal shower. (My mom decided I need to make a scrapbook to give to my cousin this weekend. If I put together the 40 pages we can just run upstairs, print the pictures as we take them, slip them into the pages and bingbangboom, cousin can leave with a gift from her own shower. Uh... yeah Type A Mom has Type Z daughter)

WHAT!!?? I have text message from Phyllis - must to be running downstairs and shaking phone violently until it coughs them up!!

I was just at the ATT phone store looking at upgrading....maybe should have done it. But they make me angry. Yep you can have this cute pink Blackjack phone and not for $180 - only $80 you have to send in the rebate. OK so it really is $180 today. Yep. OH and you only qualify for the rebate if you add unlimited text or unlimited internet to you phone. So it's really $180. Well unlimited texting is only $30 a month for both phones on this plan. OH so its $180 today and I can do the rebate myself which is let me see a Visa card not a true rebate - uh huh - and the chances of me actually charging exactly $100 on that Visa before you charge me fees for any thing over $100 or "monthly service charges" for any amount left on the visa card that I don't use in...oh...9 months. Generous. Oh wait and I now have added an extra $30/month to my bill.

Gert - I swear we are cousins somewhere down the food chain!

Tried to organize all of my TS goodies today...thought it was time to get rid of the cardboard boxes that the cats have been so obsessed over and organize into plastic bins! You know me and my bins! I have some stuff that I will have to cart with me to parties...display samples...order forms / folders / catalogs...tasting cups and such. I already had one of those cheapy 3 drawer cart things and a couple of smaller empty bins (18 quart) that I'd bought for something else and I tried to use those rather than buying any more...between the drawers and one of the bins it worked for some stuff that will stay home but alas...the other one was JUST A SMIDGE too small for the stuff I need to take with me. I just needed it to be about 5 or 6" deeper and maybe 6" longer to fit everything in. Then I would be organized and just have to lug the one bin to my shows. So I had gone out today to meet my first host at lunch to give her the samples for her show on the 13th. Stopped by Target on the way home. PERFECT size bin...50 Quarts (clear) with the snap on lid - on sale for $6.49!! NOT ONE SINGLE SOLITARY LID TO BE FOUND!! I snagged some guy on a lift and had him check. No lids. 12 of these bins on the shelf and no lids in the store to fit!! So I bought a 90 quart one instead 'cuz I was there to buy a bin. But it was not on sale...and it was a little larger than I would like...but I suppose I MAY fill it one day as I purchase more samples or whatever. But no lids. Really now. How silly. I stopped at the front and got a rain check...now I will be obsessed with finding this silly lid!! (Do I need a life or what?!)
