Tim, Beano, Chris, Rick, Neil, and whomever else would like to join us are not wearing ties or sport coats of any kind on this cruise. Should we have a button made? I don't want anyone to confuse us for someone that might wear a tie or sport coat.

I am not only ANAL...I am S-L-O-W! Slow Annie! That's me. Yup. If they had a short bus in WV I'd have been on it. Problem was there were so many of us that needed the short bus they just brought the regular size bus!

Okay, one HELL of a day here.

Tornados decided to come through. One hit about a mile from our house. I was stuck trying to get home from the doctor (which took over 2 1/2 hours because of the tornados!) Tara was home alone (poor baby--scared Tara, worried mama) and Trevor is stuck at school (they would not release the elementary students until after the weather passed.)

So here I am trying my darndest to get home, Tara's scared and hiding out in the bathroom, and Trevor is burying his head between his knees next to the lockers in his classroom. They had to stay an hour and a half after school before the buses could be released. No one could leave the school (they were under lockdown.) Meanwhile the whole time I'm driving (and driving right toward the tornados) I'm worried out of my mind about the safety of the kids.

WHEW!! The tornados tore through the main shopping area by our house (right by where Tara works--I'm so glad she wasn't working.) The pictures of the mess is crazy, but we were all so lucky.

I'm just glad it's all over.

Glad to hear that everyone there is alright. Heard that a few people were injured in Virginia.

SE I too am glad everyone is safe. Have not been able to get in touch with my brother but I don't think he was too near the storms. Hes in Fredericksburg.

They stayed away from Fredricksburg. Hit Colonial Heights and Suffolk mostly. I think there was another small one as well, but not up near where he is.

I still cannot get over how close to us this one was. I felt so helpless in the car driving trying to get home and hearing the location of the tornado (knowing that my house was in that direct path of the way they said it was going.)

We were all very fortunate. In this area there were quite a few injuries (most not severe), and no deaths.
Suffolk wasn't as lucky and I think I heard there were a couple of deaths there.


Oh, and speaking of no ties--I'm pretty sure Steve won't be wearing one on this cruise if he doesn't have to.

Well you have to go back a few pages. It all started when.... too many screen names between VMK, DIS, IM, Yahoo, etc. We all know each others real names here and although I try not to name us online, especially the girls, I do get lax about internet security some times. Just so happened DH read a post and was not impressed.

He actually edited the post and removed the names. So I renamed us Gertrude and Stymie. To protect the innocent and hide our true identity.

Which BTW now that I think of it, you totally blew out of the water by asking
your question and addressing me by real name.

SE - I'm glad you are safe! I watched all about the tornados on the 11:00 news last night....wondered if it was anywhere near you guys! I remember a few years ago, I was driving home from my PT job to meet the bus and the radio started that horrid noise for the emergency broadcast system and then they say "this is NOT a test"...then all of a sudden the sky was green and they say there's a tornado moving thru Boyds! Here I was, in the car with pouring rain driving right into it on I-270...our elem. school went on lock-down for awhile too. Everything was A-OK but it sure does put you into a panic!! Not a good feeling!!
