First- yes I have gone to see my doc and will be again this week.:thumbsup2

I have aches and pains that I can't explain. My arms feel like I worked out yesterday (kwim?) but I certainly didn't. I really didn't do anything that could be remotely described as exercise. It hurts to pick anything up- with either hand- my muscles just ache. Hanging out the laundry this morning was pretty bad. This comes and goes- some days it's the arms, some days it's the legs- some days it's both and on occasion I feel pretty good. I have been fatigued for quite a while- I'd nap every day if I could. My doctor thinks all of these symptoms are because I'm not sleeping well. I don't sleep fabulously- but even on the mornings that I do feel rested, that's no guarantee I won't ache. I just am not buying it. I've wondered about arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, lyme disease (tested for this and it was negative).

I'm calling the doc in the morning because today has been so bad. But I was wondering what some of your diagnoses are if you have had similar symptoms.

I was about to say I have those random aches and pains too, but nothing like this. I'm not sure I am remembering correctly, but the ones you mentioned, fibromyalgia or lupus is what comes to my mind too, from symptoms I've heard before.

I hope you get this figured out soon.

Thanks Serena. I have to sit and rest while unloading and loading the dishwasher...
I just feel like my doctor is being dismissive of my pain- it's not poor sleep- I know it isn't. Call it intuitition or gut feeling- it's more than not being rested. Has anyone ever gone in to their doc and said, "I want to be tested for xyz" ???

I would.

I know when I was really hurting with my nerve pain and narcotics wasn't doing anything, the doctor didn't do anything and I loved that doctor normally.
He went on vacation and I had to see another one. I flat out told him, I didn't care what he did or sent me to, accupuncturist, witch doctor, I didn't care. I had to stop hurting.
He put me on a medicine that normally had nothing to do with pain and it worked.

The point of all that was, I had to see another doctor to get one to listen to me.

Sounds like fibromyalgia or some other sort of autoimmune thing right off the bat to me but it could be lots of things. I hope you feel better soon :goodvibes

My "horses" diagnosis would be fibro or some sort of athropathy. My Dr. House "zebras" diagnosis is myasthenia gravis. But without a full history and exam, there's also about a million other things it could be.

Make sure your thyroid's ok (simple TSH)

You're in Maine - maybe not a lot of sunshine. Get him to check a 25-Vitamin D and replace it when it comes back low, probably.

Make sure you're not taking a statin (cholesterol medicine)

Xray the joints that might be the worst (esp if it's wrist) - r/o inflammatory arthritis - rheumatoid, ESR, ANA probably for starters

Are you overweight/snore ? - Sleep apnea, perhaps

That's about all I can give you from here

If your doctor doesn't listen and doesn't test for anything or dismisses your concerns find a new doctor. It took me years to find someone to take me seriously. I've had pain in my legs since I was old enough to walk. The doctors always said it was growing pains, I still have the pains but now it is everywhere. Now I have been diagnosed with arthritis, fibromyalgia and an autoimmune disease. For the longest time I thought I was loosing my mind. I go through spells where I can barely sleep at night. Thankfully now I have a wonderful team of doctors who listen and adjust my medicine when needed to help me make it through the days and nights.

I hope yours is something short term and you won't have to deal with this for long. If it is something long term I hope you get on a great regimen that keeps the pain at bay.
