I am re-doing the guest room. It is small with a window in one wall and a large closet on the opposite wall. I have removed all the wallpaper (oy vey, what a chore!) and am at the spackling/sanding stage.

Here is the question: Can I paint the closet doors to match the room or would that look wierd? The room is small and I would love to do mirrored doors but those are expensive so I am stuck with what I have. The room is going to be shabby chic, very pale lavendar walls, a lovely blue with embroidered flowers bed set and monet reproductions on the walls.

I hate the thought of two huge dark brown doors in the room but I am afraid that painting them would look goofy.

Help!

My closet doors are painted white. I would be concerned if you paint the closet doors the same color as the room it would make it look closed in. The white may offset it enough to make the room look a bit bigger (sort of like the mirrored doors would). If your closet doors have raised panels you could paint the panels the color of your walls to pull it together. Good luck

I would vote for distressed black doors! I think painting the doors the wall color would make it look too blah! Let us know what you decide to do!

I think whatever color you choose, you need to have a paint for the doors/trim that is not flat.

Choose either an eggshell or satin, as they tend to look better and stand up to wear better on these surfaces.

OK, I just had a brilliant idea...at least I think so! :rotfl:

What if I "upholster" the doors? Get a couple of cute sheets. Hot glue batting to the doors and then the sheets. What do you think? I might even be able to drill some holes in the doors and put buttons on to give it more of a upholstered look.

Am I nuts?

:yay: You are creative! What do you need our help for?

LOL thanks but the idea didn't come to me until I started reading responses. Sometimes just talking about a problem gets the juices flowing. :thumbsup2
