DIS Con 2022 details! >>> Schedule Update-Page 15

Since I will be traveling to EPCOT for only the after hours party (traveling from Daytona area), do I need to get credentials before hand and how would I be able to do that?

This may be a stupid question about parking, but we will need to pay to park, correct? (trying to plan money and what I want to bring along.

After the party, I will be driving back to Daytona area and not staying on property.

I'm going to preface the following by stating that I'm a small business owner, and understand economics, overhead costs, and supply and demand. In addition, I'm excited to be attending the After Hours event on the 1st. BUT...

Since registering and paying for the event for three people, I've received two different offers, both for significantly discounted prices. The first was 25% less than I paid for tickets, and the second was a whopping 1/2 off the original price.

I was happy to pay in the beginning, and as a GKTW volunteer, delighted to know that part of my entry fee went back to the Village. But let's be real here: It kinda irritates me that I'm paying $600 for an event I could now pay just $300 for.

I suppose, on the bright side, that means it hasn't sold out, and may therefore be a little less busy, but still...

Still eagerly awaiting word on the process for those of us who will already be in the park.
Hello! We've just been told (cue the breaking news music) that guests who are already in the park can head to the area/courtyard In World Discovery between Connections Eatery and Guardians to gather for the party. Keep in mind that the park is scheduled to close at 9pm and the party doesn't start until 10:30pm.

Guests who are arriving to the park for the party will simply check in at the park's entrance. All that's needed to check in is the QR code that Eventbrite sent you when you purchased your party ticket. Check in at the EPCOT entrance will begin at 9:30pm.

I have some questions that I hope someone can answer:).

1. What time does registration/picking up credentials open?
2. For VIP ticket holders: What time is the breakfast on Saturday morning and where is it being held?
3. Is everyone receiving an email to indicate that they are using Disney transportation to return to their hotels after the Epcot party?

Thank you.
1. Early registration/picking up credentials will begin in the convention center at Coronado Springs Resort on Thursday 9/29 from 2pm to 6pm. Registration will open on Friday 9/30 at 8am.
2. The VIP Breakfast Experience on Saturday morning begins at 8:15am. Check in for the breakfast at the convention center registration desk, and you'll be escorted to the breakfast. note: Please eat something yummy for me while you're at it. Preferably something sweet. Ahem.
3. If you didn't receive a transportation email, you can email me (DeniS@gktw.org) and I'll get that info sent your way. :)

This may be a silly question. Is there alcohol to purchase at the Epcot After Hours Party?
Yes! Alcohol will be available for purchase at the party.

❤️

I know GKTW is a dynamite charity and should be supported.

I can remember when I attended my first Dis event in 2019. It was packed. We had a lot of "Unofficial" events on the schedule.

There were 14 events on the Unofficial schedule. There were 93 pages of posts in the Unofficial thread. There were 83 hotel reservations (some had 2 and 3 people in them) staying at 20 resorts we knew of. We had 40+ people attend Hoop De Doo one night. 30+ people on the Monorail Bar Crawl. 30+ people at the Welcome Event. 12 people at Garden Grill for Breakfast. 10 for breakfast at The Plaza restaurant. The event ran from Wednesday through a live stream of the show on Sunday. And they had a very successful silent auction for Give Kids the World. I seem to recall Dreams Unlimited had blocks of rooms at most Disney resorts in 2019 then stopped doing that.

Last year it was "busy" but in no way like it was in 2019. We had the vendor room, 2 days of panels, we had nighttime entertainment on the first night (Thursday). And a very successful silent auction for Give Kids the World. This year it's a larger vendor room but no nighttime entertainment. I know last year they did it to support Cast Members because of COVID.

I've run conventions and similar events with 5,000+ people at them. I really don't know why attendance is potentially down from 2019. I have to wonder if handing it off to GKTW is the issue or if it's who is on the panels or the overall lack of content or once a year is too often to do one of these. In 2019 they had a lot of official events with The Dis personalities. Fiasco had a pin trading session. Kathy did a craft session. Ryno had a beer tasting at Tap House. Pete had a breakfast (I think). I have to wonder if that's it, the Dis isn't really part of the event. Sure they are there, but more as someone attending and not presenting.

But when you discount tickets a month before the event there's a reason. You have very few left and want to sell out or you have a lot left and want to boost sales. Based on the two threads on here, this one and the official one, I'm guessing it.s the latter. And that is a real shame because this charity deserves the very best.

I get it. I don’t like to pay more than I have to either. However this is a charity event for a great cause. I am happy that I paid full price for two reasons. 1.) the event may have be sold out. If I’d have waited for a discount I may have missed out on what will be a fantastic time. 2.). The whole event is to benefit a fantastic charity. The less I pay, the less goes to GKTW.

Also, some of the cost is tax deductible, if that helps you.

Thanks Deni...that clears things up for me coming in for just the event!! I wish I could do more during the weekend, but I just can't swing it after just being at Disney in Aug. Plus, I was supposed to come with a friend that got her leave denied by her work, so she had to cancel her whole trip.

Hi Deni and team, Checking on parking question. The FAQ says parking is complimentary for convention attendees. Does complimentary parking extend to the Thursday registration as well? It would be helpful to know if parking is only complimentary during that time frame as we have an unofficial meet-up at the Coronado for Thursday 8pm. (Please feel welcome to let your team know they are welcome to join.) Thank you!!

Quick question, is the GKTW email re shuttle the after party transportation that Deni mentioned above that would be provided? I just didn't want to sign up for it if instead I need to wait for Disney transportation? I would assume this is one in the same, but wanted to check to make sure I understood correctly.
Also, thanks to everyone for the info here, mostly Deni! If I hadn't checked on here today just for any updates since I last looked, I wouldn't had known to look for the email and just found it. I totally would had missed it all together if not for this thread!

It looks like EPCOT is closing at 9pm on Saturday. will there be someplace for folks who are in the park to go from 9 to 10:30? I know we need to get to the front to get wristbands/show our tickets, but will we have to exit, sit on a bench for 90 minutes, and then go back inside?

The email sent last week said they will be sending further instructions for those who are already in Epcot. Deni posted that you can wait by Connections. I imagine (hope) they will hand out wristbands there.

hmmm... just saw the weather there is the possibility of a hurricane going into the gulf coast and hitting Florida. Not written in stone by any means. IF it is going to be a huge impact will the event be rescheduled ?

There is only one model track in the top 10 that has "Disturbance 1" crossing Florida with the line moving south of Orlando and then east. Yeah, we may get some heavy rain, so everyone needs to bring a poncho!
