Dis Breast Cancer Survivors Part IV - GAGWTA

Glad you were able to have fun regardless of how tired you were! When we went to disneyland a few days after I finished my chemo, I was so weak!! hubby kept pestering me to get a scooter but I was determined to try and build my strength back up not give in to it! I miss the old days of hitting the park at rope drop, and the family having to drag me back to the hotel after closing!! lol!! but yes, anything is better than nothing and it's all about "the new normal" whatever that ends up being! 4 months later, after I was done with radiation, we took our grand daughters back, and we made rope drop several times! lol! I am very grateful that I have recovered as much as I have. Now I think it's more old age slowing me down!

That's encouraging!

I started taking B-12 with hopes my energy will come back. I'm drinking coffee, which I never did before. And occasional naps.

Tonight I feel great except for the arm. I'm hoping to watch the live streaming of the Epcot Rogue One event tonight at 10:25pm.

I've posted here before with questions regarding my MIL's and sister's experiences with cancer, treatments, concerns, etc., and you've all always been informative and supportive. I just wanted to share our good news: Today my 50 year old sister went for her annual check-in with her oncologist, and she was released from treatment after 18 years! She said she couldn't believe it, but of course it's true- and the secretary confirmed it aloud by saying "No follow-up appointment" as my sister checked out. We are all ecstatic that finally, FINALLY, they are comfortable saying my sister is truly cancer-free!

GAGWTA, and thank you all for your support!

Leebee that is such good news!!
I hope everyone is doing well, getting through all the chaos of things before the holidays! We are in the grips of some very cold weather, the kind we have not had in at least 10 years! we actually got snow, about an inch where we live, and it's still partly there as temps have been down around freezing for a few days now! it is really beautiful, with the blue sky and white mountains! really enjoying the change from gloomy rainy days!!
GAGWTA!

That is really nice to hear! :goodvibes She must feel so liberated! I got the "I don't think your original cancer is coming back" last year (@ 12 years) but I still have to go! I will be glad to cross that off my list some day.

leebee: Great News!!:love1: We are just starting the journey but very confident that it won't come back. Again, congrats to your sister!:banana::banana::banana:

I would love to hear those words, congratulations to your sister, Leebee.

We got back for a short trip to Portland yesterday and it snowed there too! Very exciting, people were abandoning their cars on the highways in droves. They towed them to the zoo and told people to go look for them there.

all up and down the west coast, people do not deal with snow well at all!! I am thinking you do not get any snow or freezing temps where you live? I know the state you are in, but not if there are areas that get cold. On the news from LA tonight they showed the snow and freezing temps on the grapevine, that's the portion of the I5 freeway that goes down into the LA basin. So this cold has really pushed down far! this weather was nice for a while, now it's just downright annoying!! I want my mild temperatures back again even if it comes with rain!!! I have been bringing the hummingbird feeder inside every night, setting the alarm to go put it back out at about 7:15, we have put a lamp with a 100 watt bulb down under it so the poor little things can get warm when they come for a drink! I feel so sorry for them! There is even ice in the bays on the ocean!! Yes, I am done with the cold, I want a pineapple express to blow it all back up north!!

LOL, right now it's 4 degrees, light snow here with a wind chill of -15. :crazy2: Expecting wind chill temps tomorrow morning at -25 to -30.
The hummingbirds here would be frozen in flight! Hope your temps warm up soon. :)

We live on the foothills of the Sandia mountains, so are pretty accustomed to snowstorms here. Usually gone in a day or so. But people don't abandon cars here! They love their cars too much, most of them big SUV's like we're an extension of Texas or something.

Oh my goodness! where are you located? the coldest record breaking temperature we ever had here on any day in winter was about 30 years ago, it got down to 3 degrees F. this last cold spell the coldest was 16 F which broke a record for the day but not an all time record. I am glad it only happens once every 10 years or less.

lol!!! I think the main problem on the coast here, is that when it does snow, during the day it can be warmer and get slushy, and then at night freeze, so it is very icy, as apposed to driving on snow. I spent the first years of my life growing up in the Rocky mountains, the snow used to get all the way up to the second story windows on the sides of our house! driving in snow is just a fact of life and not a big deal. But I remember all the sand they put on the roads after the grade them, it's very good traction, and it's that "dry" snow and cold. I know that with all the very dry cold air we have had this past week, my bursitis in my hip is killing me!! I will be happy to see the rain again! lol..

Oh my goodness! where are you located
We are in Nebraska, west of Lincoln. LOL temp this morning was -14 when we got up and has warmed clear up to -5 now. Wind chill at -15 to -20. Driving in snow in the winter is just a natural thing here too.

Hi, howdy and hello to everyone!! Catching up with the thread.

Diana - hope your house sale goes well. I loved our movers as well and Uncle Sam always paid for ours. Not the next time though. I dread it. That is why I want to get rid of stuff. Do you live near the Sandia National Lab since you mentioned the mountains?

rajak - Our relatives live in the McCook area. Dont know where that is. I have never met these people though. One is a nurse at the hosp. there.

lovethattink - Glad you got to spend a little time at Disney. We saw the Santa at DHS too. I love the chair he was sitting on.

smiley - sounds like rain is better than snow for your area.

TMM - hope your Mayo follow up goes well

Well all the test results were ok. The mammo was normal so I guess all the usual pain I am having is still the scar tissue wrapped around the nerve. My blood tests showed pre diabetes and high cholesterol. That has not changed in 3 years. I got a phone call from the nurse and a letter too. So much for the dr. saying I will call you. Guess this new one is just as impersonal as all the univ. drs.

Our trip was good. The weather was high 70's and low 80's. I got 4 mosquito bites and we came back to snow. lol. We did as much as we could. The older we get the less we do. Dh and I both got sick from 1900 Park Faire and Rose and Crown. I wish I still had the protonix. I liked Chefs dinner the best. Loved the Candlelight Processional with Jim Cavezeil. My favorite entertainment was Joyful group at Epcot and The Holiday Voyageurs from Canada. Voices of Liberty were good too.

We had a small world moment at MVMCP. It was about 11 pm and dh and I were going to Peter Pan. We were walking in the back of Fantasyland and dh says look triplets. He saw a stroller. The guy says heah are you the S's. Yes. that is us. It was a boy who was on the basketball team with ds1 in high school. He lives in Florida. We talked a few minutes. His wife is sweet. Her mom was with them. They live 35 min. from disney. They had IVF triplet boys who are about 8 months old and they are adorable in person!

Only got to see wishes from the bus stop as we both were not well, but saw Illuminations and of course the party fireworks. I wanted to see the Star Wars ones but we were sick again, sigh. Oh well. It was a really good trio.

Ds3 has applied for a pediatrics job at the hosp. So we shall see. They said if he gets it and doesnt like it then he can come back to his floor. The competition is fierce there.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. GAGWTA

We ended up getting another big dump of snow before it warmed up! woke up to this on sunday morning so we went out to clear the driveway and made a snow man :) haven't done that in years!! lol. by the evening it had warmed up again, and by this morning the snow was all but gone. I am glad it is back up above freezing! and my bursitis is better :)

I hope your son gets the job he wants!
Rajak, that is just too cold! lol!

Today was my last radiation treatment! !

Merry Christmas, my friends! Just popping in to say a quick hello.

My sister and I both put our homes on the market the first of November. They both sold in a week! We had a month to get out. It's been totally crazy!
Our new home will not be ready until March, so I found a townhouse to rent in Summerport. We stored the majority of our belongings, so we're sort of camping out in the townhouse with my dog and our two cats.

The situation is okay, but I will be so happy to make the final move! I really miss my fenced in back yard when I am walking the dog at 3am. We encountered a 6 foot gator the other night during our walk. Fortunately, I don't let her near the water's edge. He stayed in the water and we moved on quickly! After that encounter, I am not that crazy about walking in the dark, but you got to do what you've got to do!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! Thinking of you!

Good to hear everyone's updates. Congratulations, lovethattink!

Peg, that would have FREAKED ME OUT!! :scared: Friends of ours live down there with a house on a lake, and we had our dog down there last summer. I made sure my son walked him out front!!

Wishing everyone a beautiful and healthy holiday season!!
