Hi everyone. Just wanted to give you a quick update: Both procedures went well and I was home by 5 pm. The pain is not bad and I was able to walk down the street last night. I only have one drain this time, which I'm getting out on Tuesday. I'm hoping the surgeon has the results by then, too.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. :)

Good morning ladies

Lisa - so glad to hear your surgery went well. Can't believe you were walking down the street! I will pray as you wait for the results.Wishing you all the best sista!:littleangel:

Cindy - Wow, your poison ivy must be bad that you had to get a shot. I hope you heal soon:)

Tracey - prayers :littleangel: for your surgery too tomm. I hope your surgeon can use the mesh.

KJ - Are you a trip planner like Elizabeth? You should read her trip report!!

Well I am sooo tired. Ds and I worked on the room yest. for hours. He painted a fence on some brown paper. The rooms is probably about 75 - 80% done. I dont want to spend tons of money. There was a mixup and the leader supposedly gave my room to someone else. Geez, I guess she didnt remember that she told me I could have that room as I dont want to run up and down the stairs and its on the lst level. Its also the hottest room, so I dont know wny anyone would actually want it. Really no one ever does.

Ds20 has to take 12 days of steroid pills for the poison ivy. Supposedly he was not sick enough for the shot? There is a mix up about the med and some how between ds, the pharmacy and the dr. this morning I hope it gets straightened out. He said he got a resident who consulted with another dr. I guess that is how it goes with the teaching practice. But its better than the drs. around here who should basically probably retire soon.

The senior banquet was nice. A girl ds knows sat with us and her mom and grandma. They had a slide show and ds was in alot of pictures. I was crying as its so emtotional for me, end of all them going to school, just being alive to see it, baby graduating etc. I suppose I will be a mess at the graduation tomm.

I have too much to do this week end for sure. The graduation, cooking for sunday and maybe doing some more decorations. Enough of me.

GTAGWTA. Have a great week end everyone. Blessings to you all always.

Good morning ladies. Hope you all had a great week end!!:)

Lisa - I hope you are healing and will pray for your d're visit tomm. and that the results will be good!! Hang in there sista! You are a fighter and survivor!! (Hmm, hear the I am Woman song in the background??)

Tracey - I hope you're healing and recovery is going well too and that any post op pain is not too bad. I know I was on the morphine pump for about 2 days,

Laurie - hope you are enjoying your summer!! And hope the budget and funding woes are getting resolved.

Well I am now the proud mom of #3 high school graduate. Of course I cried a little. The ceremony was very nice. I hate these award things. It was like the R,E and B show. These 3 studeents got all the awards etc. Gosh, cant they come up with a different system. I told the ds I might donate some money to the school for the average award. Only an "average" student could get it. I know one award we all thought ds would get. Well E or B got it, I cant remember. I did see alot of kids turning and looking at ds. He said they all thought he should have gotten it too. Oh well. Such is life. He has been going to graduation partys for 2 days non stop so far.

I was busy cooking and yest. I got to meet ds 22 girl/friend. She came to church with him and stayed for the lunch. She seems very sweet. She is pre law and is applying to all these law schools. Wow, none around here, so I dont know how that relationshiip would ever work out.

Ds poison ivy is getting slowly better. The leader said she liked how ds and I decorated the room so that was good.

Tomm. I will be like you Laurie and have to listen to all the budget stuff for the school. I just hope its not alot of doom and gloom. Somehow God always keeps the doors fo the school open.

GTAGWTA. Blessings to you all always.

Any word on Tracey???

Been reading but not posting. Went home for a week to Virginia and returned home on Fathers day. Was a nice week and not hot at all. Got to see my mountains that I love. Mom enjoyed it too. I dont know if it was harder on her or myself this time.... never knowing if that is her last trip there. In general, she is in good health, but you never know. Saw Miss Lee when there and she is doing and looking awesome! Sassy as ever!

Saw my friend K. who had endometrial (spelling) cancer and is doing very well. Stage 1 and got it all. Not sure yet about treatments. I have another friend that found a lump and had a biopsy. Non cancerous but still a scare enough. Will probably have a lumpectomy. I was worried for her.

Hope the poison ivy is better. that is never fun!

Any word on Tracey???

I'm back! :) Sort of...
I am heavily medicated and in a lot of pain, but doing very well. The surgery took 4 hours. (3 hours just to clean out all of the scar tissue from the other 7 hernias, and 1 hour to put in the mesh!!:woohoo:) I ended up staying in the hospital for a couple of days since the surgery was more intense than she expected. Hopefully it will all get better from here! :) She said that the mesh will lower my chance of it happening again to 25%. (That is much better than the 80% odds I had before!)

The miracle mouthwash is helping my mom. She said almost all the blisters are gone, so it's good news all around!

Now I'm going back to bed. OUCH!

I just talked to the oncologist a little while ago. Great news - no new cancer detected in the tissue removed in last week's surgery!!!:cool1:

Thanks for all of your words of encouragement and prayers!

Glad to hear you are on the mend Tracey!

WAY TO GO LISA!!!

GAGWTA!

Tracey and Lisa, I am glad to hear all the encouraging news!
Sha, Virginia sounds delightful.

Got called yesterday to schedule a breast MRI. Surgeon had mentioned it at my checkup in January...now that they have the equipment at the local center she thinks it's a good idea to alternate mammogram w/MRI at 6 month intervals. Apparently I meet the risk criteria with dense tissue and past history, and the MRI can see things the mamm can't and vice versa. After several years of just annual mammogram the cynical side of me thinks it's just to use the local equipment, since the risk wasn't high enough to send me to Boston or someplace else to get it for the last few years :rolleyes1 Anyway, I am more nervous about the high rates of false positives than the test itself.

Other than that, not much news...enjoying summer, getting ready for my trip, I leave on the 8th! :cool1:

Good evening ladies

Lisa - :cool1: so happy to hear your good news sista!!

Tracey - Glad to hear your surgery went well. Mine was 3 1/2 hrs. Did she get to do it laprascopically? I hope the pain is manageable. Mine was bad for weeks, loved that percocet!! Also, you should ask your dr. what kind of mesh she used. Mine used proceed by ethicon. Its good to know if they ever recall the stuff, have problems etc. I always want to know what is inside me for sure!! Feel better sista.

Sha - I am glad you had a good and relaxing trip. It was nice you got to see Mis Lee too. Good to see family and trees other than palms etc. I am sure your fl. weather is so humid now.

Ann - hope you have a great trip. How was the zip line?

Well I went to the meeting. Hmm, we only have 100 students so far from nursery school to 8th grade. We are getting by on Gods love this year for sure. Its a miracle we can keep the doors open. I am going grocery shopping with dh tonight. These boys sure eat alot of food!!

GTAGWTA.

Hi Ladies!

LMP - I hope your enrollment numbers increase before school starts. If not, I'm sure you'll make it work with the students you have. I feel your pain about feeding your boys. I can't believe what my DS goes through - can't imagine that multiplied by three!

NHAnn - I understand your worries with the false positives. Maybe you'll feel better after you complete your first screening with the local equipment.

Tracey - I hope that your pain is lessening as the days go by. Just take it one day at a time and hang in there!

Sha - Sounds like your vacation was wonderful. It's nice to enjoy a change from the Florida weather.

I am feeling really good. I have been walking every day since the surgery and was up to 1.5 miles as of yesterday. The surgeon removed the drain yesterday and said everything looks good. He also gave me the okay to go back in the pool. I called the gynecologist this morning and he also gave the okay to begin swimming again. I just finished my workout - 30 minutes instead of 60 and it only took four minutes longer than it should have. I'm happy to be swimming again because I'm really not a big fan of walking. Aggravates too many old sports injuries. I am amazed at how quickly I'm recovering from both procedures. I have to think it's because of the weight lifting and swimming I've been doing for the past few months. Life is good!:sunny:

Good afternoon ladies

Lisa - so glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. Way to go sista!!

Tracey - hope each day finds you stronger and in less pain. Hope everyone at home is pampering you!

Linda - any baseball stories to share with us? I bet you are enjoying your new kitchen lots!

Elizabeth - I need to see if I finished reading the end of your trip report.

Laurie - Can you still get seafood?

Well dh is checking into donating my old/dead van. He is calling a place that helps drug and alcohol addicted teens and adults. Right now one of ds22 friends mom is in it for alcholism. If that does not work out I have a kids hosp. in mind. Alyssa goes to the onc. there.

Dh has said the "R" word to me again and I am so not happy, Yup, its Russia! He said probably end of July and maybe even again in sept/oct. He said they pushed his date back to the new dept. to Oct. as they are having so may problems where he is that they want HIM to fix. Hmm, they hired all these replacements, I think it should be their job to help fix it etc. I guess his boss now will see how stupid these people are. Worse, dh wants to get out of the dept. because he saw his old boss was hired here now. This guy is also a stupid idiot. I think that is why they got rid of him from where dh was.

The reg. dr. has called me, well the nurse. They got a letter from the ins. co. saying I wasnt filling my bp prescription. I hate this big brother thing. They also did this with ds asthma meds. Well I told the nurse its wrong because they changed the dose and I take it every day etc. Needles to say he wants to see me, he is also an idiot that I have to waste a $20 co pay on but I need a new script refill for a different med and fear he will hold that hostage over me soon if I dont get in there.

So what is everyone doing for the long week end? Dh has off the 5th and 6th yippee! I feel a shopping trip coming on. Hmm, maybe the disney outket and a car for ds? We have a bbq invite on the 4th so far.

GTAGWTA. Thinking of you all.

GAGWTA, Ladies!

Hope everyone is doing well! :wizard:

I am still not recovered from WDW. Leaving on Saturday to drive to KS with DS to visit my mom. I really needed more time between getting home and leaving again, but it is what it is!

Glad to hear that many are doing okay.

I have news to share...my CA-125 is 480. It was 783 so.....It's GOING DOWN!!!

Yay.

More good news, thanks for posting notatourist.

LMP, I hope your DH does not have two trips. That is too much travel in a short window of time.

Lots of airline points though it seems hard to see the silver lining, I realize.

As far as seafood, some restaurants have seafood, but they are struggling since the wholesale prices have skyrocketed. I think seafood in restaurants is on its way out.

There are still shrimp to be had from lake Pontchartrain, pricey though, at least compared to what we are used to paying.

Ann, good luck with your MRI. I am having one as well in an hour for my shoulder. Gotta get moving.

DH is awaiting results from a scary test. Keep your prayers going please for him today.

We did get a reduced amount of funding from the state after all as the governor spared us from his budget amendment vetro as we cover the state. It looks like he is against any non profit benefitting only a local area.

I am back to the drawing board on the budget. It may be more palatable now but still pay cuts. Nothing we can do about that.

Having a job period is welcome right now.

I am going to a software conference in Orlando starting the 18th with my New Orleans friend, staying at Wynham bonnet Creek again. The guy I rent from must think I am nuts. This is my third transcation with him this year, and I hooked up my sister for November, and my DH's comptuer network at work as well this year.

He needs to pay me a findin fee!

I will let you know about my MRI. Won't get resutls for a week. it is just my shoulder but I am pretty sure it is a partial rotater cuff tear. I am not sure if I am up for surgery.

Lisa and Tracy - So glad to hear that you are both on the mend and that the results are good news.

MaryAnn - sorry to hear your husband may be gone so much again. Hope he gets his new position soon.

Notatourtist - glad to hear your CA-125 is going down.

I feel so sorry for all of you who are living around the gulf coast and having to deal with the uncertainty of that disaster. The economy has been in the sinkhole up here for years in the area that I live in and I hate to see anyone having to deal with that kind of stress. And then to see the ecological devastation as well - it just makes the heart sick. So my thoughts are with all of you.

I hope everyone has a safe weekend as many may be traveling and there are those on the roads who don't pay attention, so be extra careful out there.

GAGWTA Ladies.

Good afternoon ladies

Nota - So happy to hear the good news about the CA-125. Way to go sista:thumbsup2:cool1:. Keep fighting tough!!

Elizabeth - hope you and Carter have a great trip and some good bonding time and good time with your mom.

Laurie - is your dd settled into the apt. yet?

KJ - are all your plans finalized for your upcoming trip. I am still working on stuff.

Well ds20 is walking to get a haircut. Glad its not hot out. He also has to go to college on mon. to talk with an advisor. He has to take a physics class over which he already failed twice and needs approval. Should be interesting.

Ds22 has to go to the ins. office and make cold calls on monday. Fine, but he is not even getting paid for this. I think this is not even the paid training part yet, hmm,can you say slave. They would probably say its like an internship thing etc.

Ds18 is going to the local baseball team game. Its like semi pro. Not to see the game, but to work the concession stand. I am so upset about this. Its actually for high school. They all have to take a turn and the school gets money. He had 1 turn already last summer I think. Worse, its 4th of July eve, far away, drunk people etc. I think the upcoming class of seniors should be doing it as the money will be for their trip I think, or maybe they are paying off ds trip. 2 of his friends will be there, but I dont know if they are doing the same concesion, like pretzels etc. I think some are harder to do then others.

I need to start studying more of the lessons I will be doing. I am afraid my brain wont remember it anyway. We will see.

I saw Jodie Benson and Whoopi Goldberg are 2 of the cp narrarators when I am there. I think I would pick Jodie. Hmm, nothing like hearing a twinge of the Little Mermaid Voice maybe.

GTAGWTA.

DH's tests were negative for cancer. On to finding out why the enlarged pancreas.

Thanks for listening.

Tough week.

Wishing everyone a happy fourth.

that is good to hear Laurie. Hoping you get an answer soon.

Got a question for you... Waldorf Astoria isnt the same as the Bonnet Creek Resort is it?
