Great news, Laurie! I'm sure you're so relieved.

Notatourist - Wonderful news that your CA-125 is going down.

LMP - Sorry that your husband will be traveling so far away from you again.

Still feeling great. I'm up to 60 laps in the pool already and no pain. DD and I went to watch some friends playing softball last night. I so wanted to be out there! I told them I would help coach them now, but that I'd be playing next year!

Have a safe 4th of July weekend everyone!pixiedust:

Thanks Sha:love:

Bonnet Creek is more like an area, some land Disney never was able to purchase so it stayed dormant for decades. I think the Wyndham starting buidling there maybe 5 years ago.

Entrance to the BC area is on the same road whatever it is called the Caribbean Beach resort is entered from, the same one from which you access the Swan/Dolphin. If you face the Carribbean beach entrance, it is next door to that resort to your left going towards Downtown Disney. Disney allowed a very small bonnet creek sign that is dark red at the entrance to the access road. The entrance is a long street, you swing to the right to get to the Waldorf and the Hilton, both of which opened last October. They are hotels, with a extremely large and nice convention center between them. There is also a nice golf course in the back of these hotels.
They both have regular rooms and suites, the Waldorf even has a 2 bedroom suite, for a price. There are two very nice pools at the Waldorf and a lazy river by the Hilton and you can use the facilites at the other one when you are staying there. There is only valet parking at both, at $20/day.

The Wyndham you swing to the left after driving down the long entrance. It is a time share in the Wyndham system. A guy I met in the hot tub last year who works for Wyndham told me this Wyndham was their signature property. He also said Wyndham's corporate offices were in Orlando, which I was surprised at.

They have 1, 2m, 3, and 4, bedroom units, all with a full kitchen and washer dryer. There are 6 buildings all arranged around a man made lake in the center. The 6th one is due to open this weekend I think. There is a building that has hotel rooms only going up next to building 6 but it is still under construction. There are 2 lazy rivers, at least 3 pools, with a new one by building 6 so I guess that will be 4 pools, 2 lazy rivers, a number of hot tubs, and a nice activities center. No golf course here as of yet. Not sure what the plans are. You can park fairly close to your unit usually, and there is at least one parking garage with another going up by the hotel I think.

We stayed at the Waldorf last November, just DH and I, in a suite in a killer deal from Travelzoo. Very nice furnishings, best hotel bed I have had, awesome service, fresh flowers all over the resort and one small arrangement IN the room (orchids when we were there), luxurious tea service in the lounge in the am, chilled flavored water in the lobby, free shuttle service shared with the Hilton next door.

Things are pricey, we did not eat there, but I was very tempted to do a massage. It has an unbelievable spa, but the prices were too rich for me.

I would stay there in a heartbeat if I could get a good deal.. if you see one, please let me know. It is worth a quick trip just to stay there. Just to stay there for the pools and the fantastic pool service would be worth it for me. I could stay there and skip going to the parks, if you can believe it.

I would like to take my DD's there, one at a time, in the future.

I can get a good deal at the Wyndham much more easily renting points. It is more appropriate in my opinion when you have children under 18 than the Waldorf. When I go for my training in September, I am staying at the Wyndham. My sister and her husbne are going to stay there for 3 nights in November before they move to the 1 bedroom at WLV which they traded into from their Sandestin beach resort.

Are you thinking of staying at one of these resorts?

There is a good thread on the Orlando hotels and attractions board about the Waldorf and the Hilton

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2262762

There is another one about the Wyndham. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2114303

I frequent both of these threads!

Laurie - Great News about your dh, but I hope they find some answers. I guess he is in for more testing? Wishing him all the best

Sha - is another trip in the future?

Lisa - wow, you are amazing. So glad to hear you are coaching. Is this a hobby/passion etc? I hope you enjoy it.

Well dh took ds car shopping. Can you say bait and switch. All the cars he wanted were not there or he didnt like them. Oh well back to the drawing board. Looks like this will not be easy. Seems he has gotten picky.

Later we will pick him up from the baseball game and they are having fireworks, so that should be nice to see, we saw them once before. They are by Grucci who do the Macys 4th of July in NYC. Small scale but pretty.

GTAGWTA.

Glad things are going well here! :goodvibes Happy to hear your good news.

We've been quite busy, but in a good way. Still waiting for builder to finish work on sunroom, apparently he's catching up from projects that were rained out this spring. So much for having my room for summer. :rolleyes1 But footings were poured, permits are in hand, inspections were done, so hopefully it'll get finished soon (what's another few weeks after my 3 year wait? lol).

In the meantime, my awesome DH screened in my front porch for us since we took down our old screened porch 3 yrs ago to make room for the sunroom and we haven't been able to sit out at night during the summer ever since - the bugs, mosquitos, green heads are AWFUL here. :scared1: (It's frustrating seeing as it's freezing here for 9 months of the year and you can't really sit out other than during the three months of summer.) He did a great job. I still had some rattan furniture from the old screened porch but I bought a few other little things I liked for around the room and it's made me very happy. Did I mention my DH is a keeper?

Ann, I just wanted to say that once they get your baseline, yearly they compare it to *that* so there probably aren't as many false positives as you think. I have all kinds of problems inside my breast (an old seroma with lots of scar tissue, and changes from surgery, radiation, etc) and I've never had a false positive yet on MRI. They just have to look it over very carefully.

Laurie, I'm jealous you get to go to Orlando so much! :cloud9:

Lisa, good for you. Notatourist, awesome news. :goodvibes

lmp, baseball is going well. We're in the midst of summer ball. DS's team just won their districts. He loves it and we have a lot of fun, too. Around this time of year I don't mind if the end is in sight, lol. Did I tell you guys his team that I'm Mom for gave me a baseball charm for my charm bracelet? It's one of my favorite gifts EVER.

Getting hairy eyeball, have a lot to do to get ready for fireworks excursion tonight. I wish everyone a fun and safe 4th!

GAGWTA

Happy 4th everyone

I am always with upcoming trips even if they are just for a day or two. I am curious about the Bonnett creek/ WA because Ive read a little about them and from Laurie and a few others who have been over there.

Good morning ladies

Linda - love your baseball charm from the team. How sweet!!

Sha - would be great if one of your trips were when we wll be in dec. would love to meet you.

Laurie - I will keep my eye open for you too. I get some e mails sent to me from places sometimes. I guess for dh ff stuff. If its got the WA, I will post it for you.

Well the picnic we went to yest. was nice. Boy was it hot out!! Gonna be close to 100 all week they say. Hopefully a little cooler for us here by the water. Our neighborhood was a war zone last night. I am glad it was not directly by us. We sat and watched the fireworks on tv inside. But the real fireworks we saw sat. night were great. Its gonna be interesting having dh here for the next 2 days. Tomm. I think my old van is being picked up. The guy hasnt called back yet. I think so far ds and I are the only ones with our room almost decorated. I feel good about that. One less thing to worry about. Ds20 is suppose to make an appt. with an advisor and he hasnt yet. Oh I pray for this child. He just never seems to learn.

GTAGWTA.

LMP would like that too. There is always a chance. I dont have the schedule yet for December and am waiting for the Candlelight Processional narrators to be announced.

Saw the RFTC is the weekend I go north for a weekend to see a friend. I wish they had announced it earlier. Another year I cant participate. I am at WDW later that week.

Sha, what about September?

I will be there with my friend Cindy in a 2 bedroom at Wyndham bonnet creek from September 18th through the 27th. The 2 bedroom is overkill for 2 people but we want room to spread out since we are there for 9 days ( I have training sessions for four days). One of her sisters who lives in Tampa is coming up for a few days.

We will have room, you are welcome. You could check out the whole bonnet creek thing too.

My son and his friends were robbed at gun point last night in New Orleans. They are ok, got his cell phone and about $3 from him. These are college students so the pickings were slim.

He needs to stay away from the French Quarter.

I was so shook up I proceeded to cancel service on MY cell. I had to get a live customer service guy to unravel the whole thing, order a new phone.

Thank you Andy!

I have no idea about September... will let you know as soon as I can.

Laurie - Praise God your son is all right. That must have been very scary for him and for you too.

Sha - I know what you mean about the narrarator. I dont want to change my adrs again. I left open 1 day and so far that day is Jodi Benson (Little Mermaid and now the voice of Barbie in Toy Story). I think I would like to hear her. Now I told dh that Whoopi Goldberg will be one of the narrarators when we are there and he said he wants to see her. She would be my 2nd choice plus it would mean switching and trying to get an adr for something I already have booked that day, cancelling that etc. You know, the hassle of it all.

Well I have done more research for ds on the car shopping. There are 2 more dealers and about 6 cars. The one dealer did call us back today and said their prep fee is $685. I dont know about the other place. I will let dh deal with ds. He seems picky now. I want a sun roof, I want blue, I want beige interior etc. Gheesh! Last month he said, just buy me something I dont care, yeah right.

I think that those are last years that are listed right now. Whoopie was suppose to be there the weekend we were to go, and we cancelled because of my accident. Turned out she didn't come that weekend.

Good afternoon ladies

Sha - I know the list changes, but this was some of the narrarators someone listed on another thread. I thought it was for this year. I might have to go find that thread again. I know last year on our day it changed 3 times we went from Vanessa Williams, to Kirk Cameron and then got Rita Moreno. I just dont want to change my adrs again. Everyone says we can book the pkg. soon so I hope they are right. I guess I am going to just keep my date Dec. 9th and see who we end up. I could change but we will see. Hope you get someone good too!!

Well my old van is gone:sad1:. There were alot of memories there for sure. I went with dh to the dmv to turn in the plates. What a zoo! I saw my friend who has breast cancer and couldnt even talk to her (she works there). Then we had to go to the ins. co. to hand in the paper from the dmv. A little time consuming process.

Right now dh is with ds20 and ds18 getting passport stuff them. Oh well. He promised them he would take them on one of his trips if he can in the future.

Still waiting for dh to take ds car shopping. I think they said its 103 out:scared1:I guess that will be later. Luckily dh has the day off today and he will have to deal with picky ds. I hope he finds something. The supply and the demand here is great since all the kids will need cars for college soon etc

Its a heat wave here for sure. GTAGWTA

GAGWTA, Ladies!

Having a nice time with family in Kansas.

My mom is doing well. She has some neuropathy and the lymphedema in her hand is pretty severe, but she refuses to wear her compression sleeve or do her exercises so what do you expect?

DS has had a terrific time here. :)

Good evening everyone!

Went to the plastic surgeon today for an expansion injection. Last one - yea! Don't have to go back to see him again until sometime in October for a pre-op appointment. My surgery will probably be the last week of October.

LMP - As to your softball question - it was part of my life for many years. I played from the time I was a kid until I pulled the Achilles tendon on my left foot back in 2001. I was also a youth league coach for many years - first when I was in the Army and after I returned to the US up until I got married. Now that I'm getting back into shape, I would love to play again but it will have to wait until next year, I think.

I can relate to your feeling about your van. It's the way I felt when our truck was stolen. Hard to believe a vehicle can feel like part of your family, but it's true when you have it for a long time.

Sha - Too bad you will be missing RFTC. I am hoping to participate and if not, I will be watching because DD is going to participate with school friends.

Pea-n-me - Glad you're enjoying baseball season!

Snappy - It's great that you'll be making another WDW trip so soon. I am trying to work something out for early August for the whole family before school starts. DD and I just signed up for the annual Pin Trading event on August 27-29th. I don't understand why they're having it so early this year. It's usually the weekend after Labor Day.

Good afternoon ladies

Elizabeth - glad you are having a great time in Kansas. It was funny. On my whiteboard in the hosp. I wrote "Theres no place like home! and I would stare at it every day!! Hmm, I guess Dorothy and Toto were rubbing off on me! I would joke and tell the ds "well I am not in Kansas. I have been there once for a wedding. The park for pictures was so nice. Ds was the ring bearer so it was ages ago. It was in Kansas City. Also we didnt know State Line Road goes through both Kansas City Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. We just kept going back and forth and getting lost at night.

Laurie - Is your son having any post traumatic stress from his robbery? I am sure it would be on and in his mind. I would totally be beside myself if that was me for sure. Just so glad he is ok.

Well ds18 is now the owner of a used 2009 Nissan Altima. He is happy. One thing dh is checking out as they said they only had 1 key. That would not be good as its a smart key.

I also went with ds20 to get him new glasses. They will be ready on sat. Perfect timing as his broke again last night. They are like 4 years old. Tonight we will bbq. It was just too oppresive last night to go stand and grill by a fire etc.

Dh gets to be the boss next week. Oh what fun. Guess I will never see him. and then he leaves on the trip at the end of the month. There is no ac in Siberia and tons of bugs. I think this week end we will go and get him a misty fan and one of those off clip on things.

GTAGWTA.

MaryAnn, how nice your son has such a good car. I hope you get another key for it. Our DS has lost keys, wallets, driver's licenses. Not a detail guy.

I don't think he is having PTSD about being robbed at gunpoint. It was a very late night though. The guy took his keys (but not his car) so one of his friend who has a key to his place went to retrieve another set of car keys there. (Good Friend!)

They had to follow the policeman who responded to their 911 call to the police station to fill out paperwork, then the officer directed them back to where the incident happened to "reenact the robbery." Maybe he did not believe them, who knows? Our DS is remembering in particular a woman who came out of a nearby apartment afterwards behaving very strangely. DS tried later to contact the officer to report this behaviour but was not successful.

I am not sure it matters at this point, or whether the New Orleans cops would follow up anyway. My take on the authorities in New Orleans is not very favorable after my experiences living in the area for many years. The authorities in the surrounding areas have a much better reputation in general.

He is back to work full steam, after needing a lot of sleep to catch up Monday ngiht.

Thanks for asking.

I had my followup on my shoulder problem this week, The MRI showed only a very small tear in the rotator cuff on my right shoulder. My doc is the one in this orthopedic group who is doing lots of the injections called platelet rich plasma therapy. He says I am a candidate for this as what I have is tendinosis in the rotator cuff which led to the tear. Apparently, the tears tend to get bigger over time as it is degenerative. What happens with the injection is that a vial of my blood will be removed, run through a centrifuge to extracted platelets which are then reinjected at the site of the tendinosis and the tear. At this point the platelets have a high concentration of growth factors which leads to tissue regeneration through new blood vessel growth and the production of collagen. It is not an immediate fix, the improvement is gradual, up to 6 months. Some pain, especially 12 hours after the injection, and then you just wear a sling for a few days, so I am scheduling it on a Friday.

I am thinking of going forward with this. This particular doctor started with doing this treatment on himself 2 years ago on his knee, and has now done 80 of these procedures ( they call them PRP's) and counting (he is doing 3 next Friday as I know as I tried to schedule one for that day). Now I think I will wait to have it after my mom's 80th birthday bash August 1st, as I will have a lot to do to prepare for the party.

From reading up on the PRPS, along with a study the doc gave me to read, it sounds like it is a fairly new thing, but originated with sports injuries, as in the Tiger Woods of the world. Now it is being done for people with chronic problems like me, throughout the country.

I am interested in whatever that will help me to avoid surgery and to possibly avoid having the tear worsen. Also, I need to be able to move the arm more as I am avoiding using it fully due to the pain.

Anyone ever hear of this therapy? I have great confidence in this doc, I have been seeing him for years and his oldest has gone to school with my younger DD since 1999. He is a prominent younger doctor here, and is the only one in that practice doing lots of this particular type of injection. The cortisone shot he gave me back in December did not do the trick, as what I have is not tendonitis, but the more progressive condition, tendinosis.

I never knew so much about this tendon stuff. Too much info.

I would love to be able to swim like Lisa is doing. You sound like you are doing so well, dear. Congratulations on your progress!!

Hope you are having fun, Elizabeth! You little world traveler, you!!

GAGWTA, ladies! :flower3:

Back from Kansas. Planning to stay home now! :rotfl2:

Laurie, I am not familiar with that procedure, but I hope it is successful for you! I am sorry to hear your DS was robbed! Glad nobody was hurt!

Maryann, yay for a new car for your DS! :thumbsup2 Sounds like your trip plans are coming together!

We have 12 nights in a concierge studio booked for next June. I am calling back every day to add to the ressie. I am not sure if we are staying 14 or 15 nights. I need to make up my mind! DH doesn't care one way or the other. I kind of think we should go home Friday so we have more time to recover. I am finding I don't bounce back as quickly as I used to. :rolleyes1

MaryAnn - Hooray for DS getting a newer car! He must be so excited. I also think you need to get another key. When I bought the Blazer for DH it only came with one key. I went to the dealership and got another key as well as the keyless remote. You can only have one key for a vehicle if you have OnStar lol.

Laurie - DD has friends that have your injury (from sports) but no one has had that therapy. I like the way it sounds, though. I hope your DS recovers from his robbery experience. Too bad the police didn't leave him with a better feeling. Thankfully, your DS was not hurt.

jacksgirl - Sounds like a wonderful trip!

Just came from the gynecologist for a follow up from my surgery. He said everything looks great and I don't need to see him for a year. Yea! One less doctor to deal with!

We are trying to plan a trip to WDW before DD goes back to college. Unfortunately, DH is having a hard time finding available time off since it's so last minute. We didn't want to make any plans until after we had the results of my pathology from the surgery. If we can't do this trip, we will definitely be there August 26-29th for the annual Pin Celebration.

Lisa, YAY for a good post-op visit! :thumbsup2
I am trying to get out of pin trading, but I seem to be sticking with pin BUYING. I would like to do a pin event, but they are always held at times when we can't travel. Hopefully you will be able to plan a family trip to go along with the pin event! :)

Maryann, my Altima was keyless. It was GREAT! I have had a terrible time getting used to using a key with the Accord. The car "knows" if the remote is inside so you can't lock the remote in the car or in the trunk. But it is good to have 2 remotes anyway! The delaership wrote the code down for me when we bought the car in case we ever had to replace a remote. Luckily we were able to make it with just the 2 that came with the car.
