Good morning ladies:)

Ann- so glad Avery is home!!

Maureen - wow, soon we will have to call you Dr.!! That is awesome,

Laurie - o.k. I will root for the Saints too.

Cheryl - hope life slows down for you and its not too crazy.

Candy - so good to "see" you girl!! That is great about your new job. I would actually like to do something like that. I used to keep the inventory and give the supply order when I used to work at the visiting nurses years ago. Glad your dh got a job too. Don't be a stranger o.k.?? I think catheters and enema kits used to be the big things:rotfl2:

So did anyone see the dateline show last night. It was informative but why do I watch this stuff??? It had about my wonderful ins. company on it and how they denied a girl a liver transplant and then she died. We have already dealt with them once about denying me the one surgery and wanting it just to be a day t hing,. I ended up staying like 2-3 days. At least my dr. was right on it etc. I am sure in the future I will have some issues with them, also they originally declined my biopsy paths too. as it wasnt "their" in service company etc.Yeah right. Ds 18 is having sat score trouble. This is such a mess. This whole thing could ruin his college admission chances and that scholarship. He will be on it today, the college board never sent his scores:mad: hence I must get off the computer, oh and the printer just died and we havent fixed it yet if it can even be fixed. We are not doing anything for ds b day. He had his chance, oh well. We cant wait forever.

GTAGWTA. Have a great day everyone.

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing.

We are having another cold spell here in South Florida. It's 65 right now. I know, those of you in the cold weather states think that's warm but it's been so crazy here lately. One day it's 80 the next it's 65. Hard to know what what clothes to wear without checking the weather!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone:cutie:

Fl Lisa - wow I will take your weather for sure. We have snow on the horizon for the week end maybe friday night. They always change the forcast so we will see.

Well it was the testosterone war between ds18 and ds20, why oh why?? I need an empty nest, but with this economy I dont think that will happen anytime in the near future:). Ds 20 supposedly has fixed our printer. I havent tried it out yet and ds18 has straightened out his sat nightmare with the college. The admissions lady said he should be hearing in about a week. Boy will I be praying) O.K. We have talked about a plan B, which would be the local college and an associates in physical therapy assistant. I dont know if we could financially swing it between the car he needs and dorming for 4 years because then he has the doctor of physical therapy program. I read those things are like $60K and on up:scared1: Ds18 also talked to his swimming coach. I love this girl. She is sweet. Ds has to go for his recerts in aed and first aid in feb. He told her about his summer cpr experience and how he wrote his college essay on it. She wants a copy and wants to read it to all the lifeguards in training now. Awesome!! I might try the rad. onc. again. Hmm, maybe if I call them every day they might actually do something and change my appt.!!

GTAGWTA

Good snowy afternoon.

O.K. so where is everyone??

I have a terrible cold I got from dh, thanks a lot honey!! I am miserable. I had tea and honey for breakfast and will have some chicken soup for lunch.

And the college nightmare continues for ds18. I told him consider the community college for a back up just in case, well he printed out the application. It says the deadline for his program is Jan. lst!!:scared1:He called the admissions. He also has to take a bio course over the summer if they will even consider him. Selfsih me would prefer he stay at home and not dorm far away if my cancer comes back. There are other colleges, but out of state and really $$. So pray he gets into his lst choice.Even my fingers are cold!! I hate being

GAGWTA, Ladies!

Many  and lots of :wizard: all around!

I have been keeping all of you in my thoughts - things are crazy as we try to get DS ready to audition for the Arts Magnet high school. We went to Open House last night and it was standing room only. :scared: It's going to be a very bumpy ride.

LMP - I feel your pain in catching a cold. Stick with the chicken soup - it was the only thing that made me feel better. I hope DS is able to get into the college that's best for all of you. I remember going through this last year with our DD - it's stressful.

jacksgirl - I hope your DS gets into the Arts Magnet High School. It sounds as though it's very popular.

Well, the sun is finally back and the temperature is going up. I sat out by the pool for a while and then ended up trying to clean the leaves out of it for almost an hour. When will I learn not to overdo it? lol

Think good thoughts for me tomorrow. I see the oncologist and have my labs for what I hope is my last chemo.

GTAGWTA.

LMP - So sorry about your cold. As if there's not enough going on in your life, then you feel miserable on top of it all. I feel for you.

wdw4us2 - I wish you well on your last chemo treatment.. I hope mine will be on Monday if the labs are good enough to get it. I'm excited but nervous. I really want to get the chemo, but nervous that my labs won't be good enough (although there's no indication that they won't be other than I'm very tired and have a bit of a cold). Then it's on to radiation. Six weeks of driving 140 miles every day :scared1: that's a lot of gas. Oh well - hopefully it works.

Hope everyone has a great weekend - and for those who are having treatments - few or NO side effects.

O.K. Ladies, its PARTY TIME!!:cheer2:party::jumping1::banana:

and you can all have a piece of :cake: to celebrate my cancerversary today!!

God is good, 1 year ago today as you all know, I had the surgery, then the 2nd surgery, then the 3rd surgery when my jugular vein burst and I almost died etc. etc. Praise God I am here today to celebrate with you all! Thank you for your encouragement and friendship in the last year.(I am also going to do a seperate little thread on the CB). I remember I told the dr. I didnt want him operating on me at 2 pm because I thought it was too late:). I guess he should have listened to me!!

KJ and Fl Lisa - I hope you both do well and it will be your last chemo's. Hmm, do we hear the sound of ringing bells?? KJ - I do know a lady from my church that just got through with radiation. Her mom told me at the end she had the really raw skin etc. and had to use the cream alot. You really show alot of strength in making that long drive each time. You amaze me!!

Elizabeth - I hope your ds gets into the school. What will his audtion be?

Laura - I hope things are going well for you health and surgery wise:hug:

I still have the cold. Hmm, looks like more tea and chicken soup and now I heard ds22 sneezing.

Wishing you all a great week end. Our record low temp. of the season is today, oh what fun!!.

Thank you all for your encouragement, kindness and virtual friendship this past year. You are a great bunch of ladies. GTAGWTA.

Maryann, I hope your cold goes away soon! :wizard:

KJ and FL Lisa, I hope your chemo treatments can proceed as scheduled! :wizard:

DS's audition is 5 components. Monologue recitation & cold reading, monologue writing, mime/mask, set OR costume design, and personal interview. He HAS TO score a minimum of 75 out of 100 total possible points to be considered for acceptance. They start accepting applications Monday, and he will be given an audition date of either 2/13 or 2/27.

LMP - Happy Cancerversary! I'm happy to celebrate this milestone with you!

I just got home from the infusion suite. Everything went well - my platelets were up to 497 so I was able to have the 6th and final chemo yea! I go back next Friday to start the three week Herceptin infusions.

I am so happy to be finished with the chemo. Now it's a month's rest and on to the radiation.

Have a great weekend everyone!:)

FL Lisa - :dance3::banana::cheer2:. Congratulations! That's wonderful news. One major hurdle over and now rest then on to the next step. It sounds like we are on a similar schedule (except for the Herceptin, I haven't heard that mentioned yet). I hope you have an easy weekend.

LMP - Happy Cancerversary. We all need a bright spot in our lives and things to celebrate during our journey on this path we didn't want to take.

jacksgirl - Hope your sons audition goes really well.

:woohoo: for the end of chemo to all...:dance3:
including:
As of yesterday Avery had his last chemo via the port (which had been monthly!) Feb 16 is the last day for the oral chemo at home. He's planning a BIG party in March to celebrate being cancer free. If any of you happen to be in the area he is inviting everyone who has shared his journey to come by! Seriously, they are going to be using a big somewhere (school or community center or something of the like). I can't wait!!

DD was out of work 2 days this week with an awful stomach virus...she was good about lysoling, clorox wiping and so forth but DH and I have been "avoiding" her ;) SO far so good. I REALLY do not want what she had. Rather have a regular cold or something.
LMP--thanks for the cake

It is FREEZING cold here this weekend. Depsite the sun the temps have been in the single digits during the day but wind chills well below zero. Last night was an amazingly beautiful night with HUGE "wolf moon". We have to bundle up for UNH hockey tonight. brrr

GAGWTA!!

Congrats on your 1 year milestone, LMP!

More of the same for Avery and all his family! I hope you avoid the virus, Ann. Good luck!

Both give reason to celebrate. Hooray!!

Had a nice day in New Orleans, yesterday. It is cold here too, although not like Ann's temps, thank goodness. It is very grey looking thought, everywhere. We brought DD19 her guitar, which we had restrung for her this week, and took DS19, my MIL and 2 SIL's to a nice seafood dinner. DD19 was working a double so we only visited her for a few hours. She is still recovering from all the events of rush week I think, sore throat, etc.

Love those oyster poboys.

My MIL is fading a bit. She has Alzheimer's and needs to be under the care of a neurologist now, we believe. DH's doc is also a friend and he is researching docs in new Orleans for us. DH sees her as forgetful, I see her as confused. I guess it is hard to accept when it is your mom. It was very sad.

Long lost sista here.....just checking in!

Wow, lots of good news here!!! :woohoo: And LMP has a party going on! :cool1: Congrats to everybody celebrating anniversaries, end of treatments, & new beginnings!

Still crazy here. Got the new puppy this weekend, named her LuLu. She is sooooo tiny! So far her and Charlie are having a great time together. It's really pretty comical. Put up a short video on you tube if anybody wants to see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cojTg-0bsDc

Now if we can just get her to figure out that nighttime is for sleeping......

GAGWTA!!!! :goodvibes

Congrats LMP! That is a milestone.

Glad to hear Avery is done too! I am hoping that he has good reports from here on out. Did they get the infection taken care of?

I have been reading the thread, but still down. Laurie thank you for the email. I will reply back this morning.

I understand that about your MIL too... I see it with my mom. I get this deer in the headlight look. She wont wear her hearing aides to help me know whether she is just not hearing or if she is having trouble. Added stress that I dont need.

I am finally back to seeing patients this past week, but not released from my accident. I have 7 more weeks of massage 2x week and still seeing the chiropractor. one of my issues is I have a rib out of place (inverted) and its better, but not in place yet. Massage has helped a lot. She said I do not feel like grisel anymore. Still painful in some areas when she works on me, but not like right after the accident.

I will try to not be a stranger. I just am working on my own issues.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Good afternoon ladies

Ann- :cool1:Hooray for Avery! and I hope your dd is feeling better too

Sha - :hug:I hoe the massages anc chrio visits help get you feeling back to good asnew you:)

Laurie - sounds like you had a nice dinner. I am sure your dh is concerned for your mil. I guess its hard to see our parents age before our eyes.

Cheryl - Lulu is so cute, but so small compared to charlie. The video was cute.

Well I still feel cold, just mostly stuffiness and mucus in my head/nose etc. The pastor at our church announced my cancerversary. Too bad we got there late and I never heard any of it. My one ds who was there said they also announced Alyssas bone marrow birthday too!!:) Well tomm. is ds game, they will lose but it might be nice to watch. DS18 is doing his back up plan of applying to the community college. I think next week is my surgeon visit or or maybe the next week. I have to go check.

GTAGWTA. Thinking of you all.

Ann - Good news about Avery:)

Short post today, not much energy the past few days. I'll be back on after labs on Thursday.

Wow Sha. I thought maybe you were still struggling since we have not heard from you.

I think my MIL may be ready for assisted living, sad to say. Neither one of DH's sisters with whom she lives now are well themselves. One has had Crohn's for many years, has had many side effects. Both have had tumors, heart attacks, etc.

And they ain't getting any younger either.

I'll be a looking for your email, kiddo.

LMP, can you take Mucinex? Have had a lot of luck with that OTC med. DH took it for 2 weeks when he was sick recently.

Lisa, I hope you get back a little pep soon. I hope the labs come out OK Thursday.

Ann, did you avoid the crud?

I am trying to orchestrate a WDW visit in March and bring my mom and have my brother Tom fly in from NYC. All I can say is it is complicated. I believe we will shoot for a 2 bedroom at Wyndham bonnet creek. That way we can stay in one unit but have separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I am really not sure if this will fly but the two of them had a very big confrontation that was very sensitive when he was down here for Thanksgiving. I think it might help for them to meet in a neutral locale (certainly not mom's house) so to speak and relax and talk it out. I am trying to mediate and it is like navigating treacherous waters.

I find them both depressed about the situation and not able to discuss it (although they do talk on the phone)and I sort of feel that way myself about my slow healing thing (see below).

So. . . WDW to the rescue?

I kinda need my own potty in the morning. :rolleyes1 I am a high maintenance type these days.

I saw my rectal surgeon for followup today. He said I still have a ways to go, but indicated that was ok since it has been only 25 days since the surgery.
I knew he was right after the darn exam today.:headache:

I really thought I was healed. Nothing to do really other than my nice daily soaks.

Speaking of which, off I go.
