Good afternoon ladies

S.C. - Sending prayers and wishing you all the best. I love your quote too, very true. I know my faith always brings me a lot of comfort.

Lisa - hope the labs go well for you

Sha - Have a great time at the race. Sounds like you will have a busy week end for sure. Prayers for Melanie.

Laurie - enjoy your trip too.

Olla - hope your onc. visit goes well today

Linda - I guess our teams are in the same boat this year. Oh well, looking forward to next year. I guess I am rooting for the Rangers now, since I used to live in Texas and went to see them too.

Merry - have a great week end. Is the game stil at the cotton bowl during the state fair. Oh I remember those days so well. Lots of rivalry, but fun. I sure miss the fair. Are you planning on going too?

Candy - you were my inspiration for another post on the cb, did you see it, about the longest diser not being tagged, Hmm, you got 10 years and no tag sista?? That TF must be asleep when you are posting:) Hope your gold party goes well.

Well whats new? Ds cant seem to get a volunteer job so far. Its insane, like you have to beg to volunteer there. So onto Plan B right now for the nursing school applications. He is getting the physical therapist to write him a good recommendation from when he worked there. I said at least that will be something health related etc.

An interesting story to share...A lady who was a relative of my dads contacted me. Had not seen her in years, Dont even know her well. She said another relative wants to have some kind of reunion? Contacted ds through ancestry.com. Just got an e mail from her about the other relative. All I know is its someone who is related to my dad..and this is the Godwink part...they live right in the next development and ds knows them as he lifeguarded at the pool, so I am waiting for another e mail. Hmm, everyone sing...its a small world. I guess I am kind of excited for the ds sake because they are always upset we have no relatives, family etc. that speak to us or other family members too, And now this happens, awesome!! Hope it works out. The guy who is our relative ds said he only met once maybe but has talked to the wife and she is very nice at the pool etc.

Going to Portland, OR to volunteer during the marathon. My sister is running her first full. I am registered also, but due to my mastectomy surgery unable to run.
I am super excited to see my sister cross the finish line.

On call today but may get to cheer LSU on as they play the florida gators. I dont root for the gators if anyone was wondering... not until they play R's alma mater of fsu.

Love the ribbon idea in the yard.

Today I saw my plastic surgeon for a 2 week post op visit. The best news was that I don't have to wear a sports bra 24/7. I literally have been wearing a bra for 2 weeks straight. UGH!
I will not have to see this doctor for a month. Next up is doctor appointments with my general surgeon and oncologist.
The process of having a double mastectomy with one step reconstruction has been painful, but is getting a little easier each day.
I measure my recovery by how much pain meds I need each day.

Yesterday I realized that I was ready to learn my fate as far as further treatment goes, so I am looking forward to meeting with my oncologist.

What an emotional journey this is!

A very good friend of mine had a similar experience after her double mastectomy. She had a really tough time. Had a lumpectomy, radiation, and chemo. After chemo, opted for reconstruction by having her healthy breast reduced to match the lumpectomy side since she was rather busty. So she goes in for surgery on the double reconstruction. And they found cancer (DCIS) in the healthy breast. So she went for her double.

She had a lot of pain and I remember sitting with her so I sympathize with your situation. Very hard to do much of anything. But she is two years out now and says she wishes she had just opted for a double to begin with since her family history is very strong. Lots of BC deaths in the family - not sure if they are BRCA positive or not. But she is doing very well now and I'm sure you will be too. It is a matter of getting through it all. And having to deal with chemo during recovery is tough.

But Cindy would tell you that the silver lining at the end is that you will never need to wear a bra for the rest of your life!

Hi ladies, long lost sista checking in!

I think I'm all caught up with everyone.....I feel like I was so far behind that it would be nuts to try and comment back to everyone, so please forgive me. :flower3: Welcome to the thread SC and Olalla - there is a great group of ladies here always ready to offer up support!

Life has been crazy busy lately, but in a good way - so no complaints here! Last weekend we had a party to celebrate our 30th anniversary.....never did anything party-wise for any of the other years, so I guess we figured it was about time. We had a great time, and of course had entirely way too much food! My brother and family in Oregon were even able to fly in for the weekend, haven't seen them in about a year so that was a nice surprise.

The past few days I've been furiously making plans for our F&W visit......OMG! I was really surprised at how many food booths there are to visit.....we made list of everything we want to try, and between the two of us we will be hitting ALL the booths over the three days. Which doesn't seem so bad until I remember that there are also six sit down meals we will also be working into the schedule. LOL, then DH keeps adding things to do at the other parks to the list. Did I mention we only have three days??? :rotfl: He thinks we'll even have some free time to hang out by the pool. Silly DH. :lovestruc Not sure if it will work out, but for the others that will also be there in two weeks, let me know when you are planning to meet up, hopefully I'll be able to join you!

I go for my next CT scan the week before we leave, and see the oncologist right after we get back. Sigh......I'm just not ready to deal with it again. I've done a pretty good job of managing to forget that I'm only on a BREAK from chemo these past few months. Nope, not ready at all. I'm so grateful that I've had this time, and to be able to sneak in another disney trip with DH. I know better than to dwell on what lies ahead, but damn.....the dates on the calendar are just flying by sooo fast!

GAGWTA.....hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Am there in 2 weeks if you are referring to the 21-23rd. Will be in Epcot for F&W with my BF and some friends from HS on Saturday starting in Australia We are meeting from 11-1130 but am going to try to move that time up a little from 1030-11. Will PM you and Patsmom my cell number, anyone else there then??? Patsmom is going to be the first of ya'll to meet R. I guess :goodvibes Just don't tell how much I talk about him (will make me blush and he does that a lot to me anyways... always has):rotfl: It's all good. I can hardly wait though. Will be wonderful to meet up with you all, even for just a little bit. :grouphug:

Sha, I am really looking forward to meeting you and R. And anyone else that we manage to connect with! We arrive early on Saturday and will then head to Epcot. I sent you my cell number too. So we will find each other!

Had a really busy weekend. But my wood is split. Now we just need to move it to the woodpiles under the deck. Have to go into town shopping today. Its the weekly grocery day. And I have to work tomorrow so I can't procrastinate!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Good afternoon sistas

Cheryl - so good to see you posting. Looks like you are going to have a great vacation. Hope you can meet up with everyone too. Enjoy your trip. Glad you had a nice anniv. party with your family.

Lisa - heard you are getting lots of rain

Merry - heard you are having lots of rain too One of my fav. places for Mexican food in Fort Worth is Joe T. Garcias. Has your ds and ddil been there?

PatsMom - I remember we would get wood delivered when we had our wood stove.

Candy - hope your gold party goes well today

Sha - so sweet to hear that R. makes you blush, ahh, to be young again!!

Well dh and I have nicknamed the new van the blue beast. Its a light blue color and it kinda drives rough so we joked that our old van was beauty and now we have the beast. Theres nothing wrong with it, just we compare it to the older model we had. I am still gettting used to the leather seats. Not a fan of those for sure. The ds commented how clean it is inside too.

Godwink coming..remember how I said some relative contated me about another relative who lives by me. Well I see its in the next development where ds lifeguarded and I ask him if he knows this family and says the name. He says...he knows them very well:):). So all the time we never knew these were our relatives and then...they live right next door to the ds friend Emily, truly amazing. So she gave me their e mail address (Ds didnt lifeguard there this year), and I will get something off to her this week and hopefully we can work something out etc.

Oh and I am trying to be really good. Tues. I am having ds21 take me to dr. waste my time. I am getting a flu shot, b12 shot and I asked to see him, so I will verify that tomm. and I am gonna ask him about some blood tests for my tiredness and get a mammo script. Thurs. ds and I are gong to the dentist. Him a check up, me I chipped my tooth the day we were going to Penn. I really think the radiation has messed up my mouth.

(Visions of your root canals Candy).

Sha & Patsmom.....sent you both my cell & email. We arrive Friday night. Have breakfast reservations at the Grand Floridian Saturday morning at 9:30 and was then planning to pop in at MK for a bit before heading over to Epcot, but I'm still working out details so might be able to rework the MK part....will keep in touch. :)

LMP, glad you are enjoying "the beast"! What don't you like about the leather seats? Got my first new car with leather seats last year and I love them....I was afraid they might get too hot in the summer, but it hasn't happened at all. And in the winter they are heated, love that! LOL

Went for a nice long drive and out to dinner with DH today, it was warm, sunny and beautiful out.

GAGWTA! :goodvibes

Cheryl Dan- Good to see you! I just sent a shout out to you! I hope you have a great trip and can meet up with the Girls! You will get to meet Sha's R or "Charlie". Sha that is my nickname for him! ;) He will be surrounded by 3 great ladies!

LMP- I love the car name. "The Beast" I guess it takes some getting used to. My DD pain is good. It last a few days and then she is back to eating. She has "Open House" today. No I didn't see your Post about the Tag Fairy. I am going to find it after this post. I hope your tooth issue is not as bad as a root canal!!! I think that is awesome about your family and that they are so close. I got my flu shot today. It's great because they have a little area in the hospital set up to get the flu shot. I got mine on the way to the mail room. Hurts like heck though!!!

Olla- I hope everything goes well at your appt. Make sure you take a notebook so you can write down what is said. Or better yet have someone go with you that can write it down. On my first appt I forgot everything that they said. I was focused on you gonna lose your hair and everything else was Charlie Brown Adult talk! Keep us up to date.

SC- Welcome! :grouphug:Great group here. You have a wide range of grandbabies! That's awesome.

Merry- Enjoy your visit with family. That is always fun.

Lisa- Bummer you couldn't swim but glad you are feeling better. I did the peroxide and water with my daughter and that worked well. Her two best friends just got braces. Now she says they are really BFF. They are Brace Face Friends!!

Sha- Send a picture of your yard decoration, so we can see it. Sometimes in life we have to have a bit of rain so we can appreciate the Sunshine. Maybe you are missing R some too. Mel is truly an inspiring person. I hope you are feeling up and Adam.

Smilie- Where are you, Eh? Missing ya girl.

Patsmom- Glad you are feeling better. Counting down the days to your Disney Trip???? Hope your shopping went well. I was going to ask if you had a fireplace in reference to the wood. Forgive me, I am a City girl.

Snappy- How are you doing? How was your weekend?
My party went well. I didn't think it was going to do well at all. I really didn't advertise too much. Been so busy. But the sales were over a thousand. So I got a really nice gift and 15% off of earings I bought.

DS did work for me but I was called in because someone else cancelled. :headache: I was in the grocery store at check out. So I got to enjoy most of the day. The weather was beautiful this weekend too. We are starting with the Stink bugs here again. But this time I am prepared. We have window caulked and holes fixed. I hate those things. They are hard to kill. I saw a green one and almost had a heart attack!!!:scared1:

PNM- Thanks for the shout out about the new thread. I will keep my eye out this time.:goodvibes

I hope everyone has a great week.

Good morning ladies

Candy - so glad your party turned out well

Cheryl - I am trying to get used to the leather seats. Dh did use the heat option and I started yelling. I think it was too high and I didnt like the sensation. Guess its gonna take some getting used to. Your GF breakfast sounds great. Have never eaten breakfast there, just lunch, dinner at Ctricos and the tea with Laurie. I think dh and I would like to do breakfast there one day. In Nov. we are doing lunch again, so we can look at the tree etc.

Olla - hope your visit went well

Lisa - glad you are feeling ok from the chemo

smiley - thinking of you sista and hoe the rads are gong ok, that combined with your long trip, I am sure is taking a toll on you. Hang in there!

Laurie - are you still on the diet?

PatsMom - I know what you mean about the Brown Derby. Laurie got Dh and I hooked on the last trip.

Well today will be such a busy day. Its the dreaded visit to dr. waste my time. I just cringe thinking of it. So I will get it all done at once and that should be the end of him until my pre op clearance for the eye surgery in the spring. I feel like I am getting the tune up all at once. Flu shot, B12 shot, mammo script and asking for some blood work too as I am so tired. Also my L chest hurts. That is where I had the noncancerous tumor out 30 yrs. ago. I know there is scar tissue wrapped around the nerve they say, but its really bothering me. I am hoping all goes well with that.

Then tonight I have my school meeting. Yes, we are suppose to go over all the info I reviewed like 3 months ago. Cant remember any of it , so now I have to go and dig it all out and review it again.

GTAGWTA.

My weekend went good. My sister finished the Portland marathon without any issues.
I worked in the medical tent at the finish line. It was a very rewarding experience.
My oncology appt is Wednesday.
I am working up my list of questions for him.
My wdw trip is just two weeks away. I can't wait!

Busy medical week for me. PETscan tomorrow morning, nephrologist tomorrow afternoon and chemo on Friday. Still don't have any energy, but feeling okay otherwise.

MaryAnn - Congrats on obtaining "The Beast". :thumbsup2

Almost 4 inches of rain! Seems lately we're feast or famine. Unfortunately, it was too much too fast. We need to learn to spread it out a little more so it doesn't run off.

The game is still in the Cotton Bowl at the fair. Good fun. And DS says they have tried that restaurant...it's good. It was a good visit.

Worked like dogs since we got back home. Getting closer to being ready for the big sale. I'm so tired tonight.

GAGWTA & prayers for C.S.

Lisa, I am hoping your appts and chemo goes well as can be. Keep pushin' girlfriend.

Olalla-Hoping your appt goes well to. I am celebrating your trip with you :yay::woohoo: Are you doing a trip report?

LMP-how was the school meeting? Hopefully positive.
