Dirty Room

Filthy room at check in?

  • Call desk, calmly ask for new room or cleaning!

  • Clean it yourself and whistle while you work!

  • Call desk, scream, rant, demand a discount!

  • Live like a pig, cause it feels like homw!

  • Do nothing, don't call desk, complain when you get home.

After reading many recent posts about dirty rooms at check in, I wonder how people would handle situation if it happened to them.

Personally, I vote for #1 :smooth:

Whoops, # 4 should be: Live like a pig, cause it feels more like home:p

I put the first one. We checked in last year and there was some mold in the shower. DW is allergic. I went to the desk and asked them to have it cleaned. They did while we were at the park.

If it was truly filthy -- which is much much worse than just several minor cleanups/repairs -- then I think something is seriously wrong and waiting for them to clean up the mess is not appropriate. If they had let things get that badly out of control that it was truly filthy, then they should make immediate amends.

But is this really a null hypothesis? Has anyone ever really checked in to find their room at a DVC resort truly filthy?

I've cleaned many a window among other areas. I guess I'm not a complainer as I have never said a word to anyone there; and realize as my DH says that no-one ever does the job as well as I do; so I accept the perfectionist in my self as a negative and quietly fix things to my satisfaction. But I have to say some things I have seen have been down right nasty. Mostly mold.

I spoke to a DVC management CM at OKW last week. This person said that guests should walk into the unit & feel like they never left. I checked out last week. On my next visit I should feel like the room was cleaned for me & that I never left :).

The room/rooms should be cleaned to the high expectations that we have become accustomed to at Disney. I don't feel that letting someone know about a problem/concern is complaining. How is DVC supposed to know something is not correct/wonderful if we do not let them know? I am not saying we should each be a constant complainer because there are many times I pick up the phone & compliment someone. Last week at the OKW annual meeting I spoke to a few CM managers & complimented CMs who work for them.

I guess I don't have to say that I voted for #1!

I have only had two experiences from which to draw. Both times, the units were clean.
I did notice that at the OKW unit, there were only "crumbs" of dishwashing detergent left in the box. So, I immediately called housekeeping to get another box (in the unlikely event that I felt like cooking and washing dishes :) ).
I figured that even if I didn't use it, the next individuals would not have to call and ask.

-DC :)
