Directv On Demand (now called CinemaPlus) and ipad

Do you use it?

I bought the darn thing over a year ago and it works on and off....well, did....I think I have a better connection now....

So, tonight I went to see what shows I might want to download overnight and watch later.....there is nothing there!

I clicked on "TV shows" and then "crime" it says NO shows to display at this time. Then I went to 4 other categories and got the same message!

Is there usually more stuff on there?

I am also reading that you can stream TV onto your ipad using this internet connection for no added charge.....anyone try that? How well does it work? I won't get my ipad for another month or two, but am researching.

I can't add too much but i would check to make sure your internet connection to the receiver is working. Check your owners manual for how to do that. I use D* on demand all of the time and the directory should be full of stuff that you have already seen...i mean stuff you can watch if your desperate...i mean stuff... I don't know anything about streaming the videos off the receiver. I know my other computers in my house can see my DVR but they will not stream any of the content but i never have really looked into doing it.

It says it is connected AND I have been able to see some shows offered, although none are shows I would watch.

But the categories I chose show nothing.

Ok, more showed up today, unfortunately, still nothing I watch.

However, I am hoping this thing can at least help with streaming DTV to my ipad.....anyone know how this works? My ipad is ordered but will take a while to get here.

I don't know about the ipad. Do a google search for "streaming directv dvr" because you sparked my interests i got it to work on my pc. It is very complicated. You have to run their advisory which will tell you what is wrong with your computer, you then have to fix those issues then you install the cyberlink software and can stream from the receiver to your computer. You can't download it to the computer, only stream it. There are several threads about downloading it but they are more complicated then necessary and it isn't worth it in my opinion. Most of the big shows are on the network websites and you can stream directly from them. So good luck. It took me about a half hour to get it working and i did not think it was worth the trouble. All of the necessary software is up on Directv website. I can't add into the conversation about on demand. Mine just worked once i hooked up the internet. I haven't needed to trouble shoot it so i am not familiar with how it works behind the display.
