A friend and I are spending a night at Pop Century before a cruise from Port Canaveral. What is the best route from POP to the Port? - we are returning a car at Dollar. Thank you!

Have you tried Mapquest??? We found that to be pretty helpful. I just can't remember route numbers or such...but it was an incredibly easy drive from WDW...head east, when you get to the water, stop and look for the ships.

The trip is easy.....Take I-4 North to 528 east.

You may want to check to see where the Dollar Car Rental is that you are going to drop off your car. You may need additional transportation to the ship.

Actually I did mapquest from POP to the Dollar address. Hopefully it will be a nice, easy drive :)

I'd check your local references to the direct exit from Disney to SR-417 - which IS a toll road

take 417 to SR-528 aka the beachline expresway (also toll)

you will take the beachline to its end at Port Canaveral (you'll see the ship) where it dumps into A1A

The Dollar office is on A1A so just keep going for another 2 miles or so ... the office will be on the right. They do run a shuttle.

Recommended option . . follow the signs to the terminal and drop off momma and the kids with your passport. She can check you in while you return the car - and only ONE needs ride the shuttle. By the time you get back to the ship you should be ready to board.

Yep, that's the route we've taken. Let me ask you another question though. If I'm at US/IoA, what's the best route to port??

from Universal just take 4 south to 528 then head east

417 works for Disney to miss the I4/528 interchange which can be a mess but 417 and Disney are south of 528 and Universal is north of 528 . . .

Ah, that makes sensse. Thanks. I've never driven to US/IoA...just WDW and port, so it's all new to me.

Do you mind me asking where you picked your car up and are you dropping your rental off in Port Canaveral? the reason I am asking is I am trying to do the same thing but backwards. I want to pick a car up in Port Canaveral and drop it off at disney but the locations are not coming up.

Cape Canaveral is MLBC01. There isn't a Dollar on WDW property, but there is a drop off at the Regal Sun Resort on Hotel Blvd, near DTD. Look under Lake Buena Vista for this address and code.

I'm actually picking my car up at Sanford, but I know you can get a car from Budget at port, and then return it to the Doubletree in DTD.

We rented from Dollar. We picked up at the airport and returned it at Port Canaveral. After the cruise we picked up from the port and returned to the Regal Sun. They shuttled us back to our resort but it also would have been a quick walk to Downtown Disney. The driving was very easy. Going out we went 4 to 528. Coming back we took 528 to 417.

Disney to Port: I-4 East (sometimes the general I-4 sign comes first) to 528 East. Get off of 528 at its exit 9 (Tradeport). Left and cross under. Get into middle lane. Required right onto McCoy. Next light about a mile later is 436 (Semoran). Right, cross over, get back onto 528 East.

Port to Disney. 528 West. Get off at exit 10 (436, Semoran) to go north. Left at first light (Frontage, becomes McCoy). Next light take a left (Conway) and immediately take another left onto 528 west again. At end of 528 take I-4 west (southwest).

In both cases watch for toll signs on 528 and in some cases you must take what looks like an exit ramp to pay toll in cash.
