Directions From Airport to Emerald Island?

Next month we are staying at Emeral Island, and was wondering the best way to drive there from the Orlando Airport?

We are staying at Emerald Island in December. The easiest way to get there from the airport is: Exit the airport to 528 west. You will pay two tolls about $.75 each. Continue on 528 for about 10-11 miles until you get to I-4. Go west on I-4 for about 6-7 miles until you get to US-192 (exit 64B). Keep following 'US-192 West'. You will see marker posts every mile on the side of the road. After marker 5 turn left at the lights onto Formosa Gardens Blvd. A sign for Splendid China will be in the middle of this road. Go straight on until you reach a 4 way stop sign, turn right and follow the road until you come to the Emerald Island entrance. Turn left to the gate house, and after half a mile you will reach the gate house. Go straight on at the mini roundabout into Emerald Island Blvd. Your there!


Here is a shortcut to get to Disney and avoid a lot of traffic. I haven't tried it yet, but I got it from someone else on this board who has been to Emerald Island several times.
Super short cut to Disney World: Drive back to HIGHWAY 192. Turn RIGHT and go one block to SHERBERTH RD. Turn LEFT. Follow Sherberth Rd. 1.2 MILES (it will twist and turn at the end) to a 4-way stop. As you head down Sherberth Road look straight ahead. See THE TALL TREE THAT IS HIGHER THAN THE OTHERS AND A LITTLE DIFFERENT COLOR OF GREEN/..THAT IS THE TREE OF LIFE IN ANIMAL KINGDOM. At the stop light, on your left will be Animal Kingdom Lodge. Turn RIGHT and Animal Kingdom will appear on your left. Take the first left for Animal Kingdom Parking. For all other Disney Parks go straight and follow the signs. This is just 6 minutes or less from your home. NOW!!! If and ONLY IF traffic to Disney is backed up past Formosa Gardens Blvd when you get to the 192 intersection. (this can happen during very busy times), turn LEFT out of Formosa Gardens Blvd. onto HIGHWAY 192 and drive west to BLACK LAKE RD. Turn RIGHT on BLACK LAKE ROAD and take it back to Sherberth Rd and then turn left on Sherberth and proceed to the stop sign. Works GREAT! To EXIT Disney: Follow the signs from inside the park to ANIMAL KINGDOM. As you approach Animal Kingdom stay LEFT and follow the signs to Animal Kingdom Lodge. When you get to the stoplight, turn LEFT on to Sherberth to HIGHWAY 192. Turn RIGHT(West) on 192 and back to Formosa Garden Blvd. You are now a Disney Pro at getting around!

Hi...nice to see my "super shortcut" put to good use. Keacc's directions are excellent. We usually bypass all of I-4, however, by taking the South exit from the airport and picking up Tollway 417. Take this all way to exit 2 that says Celebration/192. Exit and stay in the right lane to the big stop light on hwy 192...turn left, go about 4 miles to Formosa Gardens Blvd. turn left and go one mile to Funie Steed Road. Turn right...Emerald Island Entrance is on your left about .6 miles.

One question!..Do you need to pick up keys at a management company before going to the home in EI???

Hi again, then first stop is Management company...If you know where management company is they will get you to EI from there....
Have a great time....EI is absolutely the best location to be to get to Disney and the local area....Ted
