Going in May and have booked for the first time with Direct Holidays. Anyone had any past experience with them, any do,s or dont,s.

Well, not exactly. But we are booked with them for October. So far things have been smooth enough. They came recommended to us by locals.

We did decline both the travel and car insurances offered and have saved a lot by purchasing these separately on the net.

We chose them because of the direct flight from Glasgow to Sanford (we really didn't want to have to change) and the price was better than anywhere else I could find too.

Fingers crossed time, I suppose.

We booked with them for our trip last Oct. Only booked the flight with them.
We picked them for the same reason as above, only we flew direct out of NCL
They were fine. No problems.

Ditto

Fingers are crossed - I have booked flight only for early June - I did it online and it was slightly weird as it made you select how many rooms you wanted even though it is flight only. I've spoken to them three times since to ensure that I won't be charged for anything extra! I'll pop over to their desk when I arrive and pick up whatever info they have and that's it - I have my own car hire booked.

I'd be interested to know how other people do get on with them so let me know! :earsboy:

Never flown to Orlando with direct holidays but have booked with then for the last 4 years on holidays to europe, they are fine no problems at all...well we would'nt have been with then 4 years running if they were rubbish... they really are fine. :flower:

Meals were lovely and hot, good quality (not fussy) nice staff, organised and only 1 delay in 4 years and that was because they were waiting for a couple! :earsboy:

Do they charter bigger planes to Florida or is the 'normal size'...just asking because i could'nt image a near 10 hr flight on the same planes that fly to european places...dum question i know, but would be interested to know? :confused3

Our son booked a hoiday with Direct Holidays and everything was fine - the flight was good. He was staying on the 192 in a hotel on the 6th floor with his girlfiend ( we were also there but in a different hotel)
If I had to be picky - the hotel room did not come up to the standard stated in the brochure and Direct Holidays were not very good when it came to the Hurricane. We were kept informed all the time by Travel City but unfortunately attempts to contact a rep or the company directly failed. It was left to us to make sure that they were safe- Direct Hoidays did not offer any safety advice whatsoever. I felt that in such a situation they should have at least made available a contact number.

Having said all this they do offer value for money but maybe they need to make themselves available to holidaymakers in the event of a crisis.

Thanks for all your replies. We booked them because we got a good price direct from Newcastle and did not take their travel insurance. Unfortunatly we did not find this site until after we booked and now realise we have been done with our 'free car' and could have had a lot better model booking direct for less money. Any other info, good or bad greatly received.

We have also booked with Direct Holidays for our trip this coming August, mainly because we could fly direct from our local airport Cardiff. They are owned by Airtours (my travel) but the aircraft we are scheduled to travel on is owned by Monarch, I think it is an Airbus 200 or 300, and we have been fortunate to be able to book premium seating although it was rather expensive at £249 extra per person.

Been with Direct Holidays to Orlando in 2000, direct from Glasgow. It was pretty much just a typical charter flight, though we did have seat back TV's. The hotel was very basic, plenty of wildlife though...LOL. Roachville I think we called it, but Direct were very good at getting us moved to a different part of the hotel.

The one thing I don't like about travelling on a charter airline is the low baggage allowance - is it 20kg?? Compared to 64kg on scheduled flights. It makes all the difference when it's time to come home and you've done lots of shopping!!! :flower:
