Direct Air at MSP?

I saw a Direct Air plane sitting at a hanger at MSP this afternoon..... they don't fly out of MSP, so I am wondering why it would have been there? Do they fly charters as well?

Just a curiosity thing... I saw it as we taxied to our gate.....

From what I understand, they don't own their planes so probably whoever owns it is using it, probably as a charter. Maybe a sports team? I know the Penguins use Miami Air.

That's correct. They don't own their planes so I imagine whoever owns them has contracted them out somewhere else and is waiting for the paint job.

It makes sense. It was parked near the area where sports teams tend to go when boarding a plane. I bet it was a team in town that day..... I just checked and the Vancouver Canucks were in town to play the Minnesota Wild yesterday, so maybe they charter with the owner of that Direct Air plane.

Direct Air has gone belly up. At least they've filed for bankrupcy and stopped operations. Of course, if the plane moves, it might have been sold or something.

Direct Air did not own their planes, they were chartered.
