Direct Add On Now 25 pt Min on all Resorts!

My ex and I had the understanding that we could buy anything under $K without checking, but anything more than that required a discussion. We never really specified a precise number for $K, and it got larger as our financial lives improved over the years, but it was never large enough that it would cover a DVC purchase.

I’m not really a name brand person. But I saw Disney Dooney purse I really wanted and I went inside the store alone and bought it. My husband stayed outside with mom and son. Later my husband told me my mom said to him “did she ask you if she could buy that purse”? That was 8 years ago and we still joke about it to this day. If I buy anything without telling him he says “did you ask me if you could buy that”. With that said I always tell him about what I buy because we talk about everything. I don’t always ask. I would bet I could buy my 25 points and he wouldn’t be mad I didn’t ask but I know when something should be talked about first, it’s more of asking for a blessing than permission with us.

Well, that just means your $K is higher than ours was. I don't think ours ever hit four figures, though it might have. (FTR, a Dooney bag would have been under $K in the last 5-10 years, easily.)

It was also the case that we were pretty well matched when it came to buying stuff and our incomes were comparable. So, there wasn't really ever much reason for resentment.

Convincing my husband we need more points is half the fun
I'm already mentally rehearsing, "We don't own here and probably won't ever be able to stay here," if we visit a resort that he like a lot. I suspect he will like Riviera and FW. "If only we could buy a few points to be able to stay a couple nights here." Let him ask me if it's possible to only buy a few points. 🤣😛

I keep thinking that a 50 point CFW contact gets you a week every third year, and the dues would not be that bad on 50 points....

I will have to see if the 7 month availability gets better than it is now when more are sold.

At the rate that CFW is selling, you might have to wait a long time until more inventory is declared. I know some people love CFW, but it is a tough sell, especially with those high dues and still some confusion about the trust.

I think if CFW had somewhat "normal" ($10/pp range) dues, it would probably have double the sales. Especially with a lot of dog owners.

I'm increasingly thinking you missed your calling to be a litigator.

I actually find this reasoning compelling. In theory, Disney could have made the cabin point chart 30% higher (they are practically one bedrooms!) and made dues 30% lower, bringing them in line with other resorts, but they didn't-- which functionally made CFW the ugliest for owners and most appealing to trade into...I wonder if the hard time selling will convince them not to try moderate point charts with higher dues again?

I believe about a year ago someone else calculated cost of ownership with higher dues but low point chart for CFW and it was somewhat close, but hard to pick a true comparison given the unique layout and (lack of) features you'd typically find in 1bed.

I predict that they will make LL a moderate point resort matching the cabins , however to make that work they need to have a much larger resort ( near SSR in size) - So my theory is that they always intended to combine LL (600) and the cabins (360) in the trust, and then they would even out the maintenance fees. Then they could have 300 moderate cash rooms as well.

I do not see adding more deluxe cash rooms when they seem to do better selling value and moderate cash rooms.

But , they do not share occupancy on cash rooms anymore so who knows? Maybe they are booking up WL now?

I’m not a gambler, but I’d bet there’s zero chance LSL is a moderate.

(Maybe it is and that’s why I’m not a gambler)
Let’s discuss: what does it mean to be a “moderate” resort?

I’d say that would be lower room square footage, less convenient transportation, less amenities (no restaurant, only food court), less cost, and typically exterior corridors for room entry.

Some DVC resorts have some “moderate” aspects such as exterior corridors but they have higher square footage. I don’t believe that LSL would categorize as overall moderate

Exactly, moderate points does not mean it has to be classified as moderate .

Will they add a huge lobby like - WL or GCH or GF lobby? People expect that in a deluxe cash hotel.

The transportation is equal to WL but not the other MK resorts.

WL rooms are smaller than VGF or Cont or Poly and the room rate is cheaper. But it is still deluxe.

I can see WL size rooms, Simpler lobby ,maybe a good restaurant and a food court .....
