Dinsey changed our hotel

Dinsey called and changed our resort. We initally booked for the PO Royal Rooms and got the call today that they are still under construction and our room will not be ready. They " upgraded" us to Polynisian (sp)... How is this hotel? My daughter is so upset What other resorts could we have chosen from?

I decided to just be thankful for the upgrade. I do think the decor is ugly but appreciate that Disney upgraded us. I love the Boardwalk.... we had our choice of a deluxe hotel but the GF was booked and my hubby just took the first option he was given which was the poly with theme park view. I just have visions of the hideous brown decor but maybe it is nicer in real life.

That's a HUGE upgrade - probably close to $400+ a night. Although you may feel the decor is "ugly" - the entire Polynesian is decorated in a South Seas theme. While the rooms may be a bit dark, I much prefer them over the new Royal Rooms at POR - to me those are ugly.

A Poly theme park view room for the price of a POR room? Do you realize what an amazing deal you are getting?!?!? I would be on cloud nine right now!

oh wow!!! i would be soooooo excited!!! Some day we are going to stay at the Poly....someday! For now it is value resorts for us

I've seen the pictures and I've walked through the Poly on two separate occasions. Just chalk it up to the colors not photographing well, because it SURE is beautiful in person! Oh, you will be spoiled!

Trust me you will not be disappointed with the Polynesian's decor.... the brown is a good brown :} Lots of tropical plants add bursts of color and fragrance, plus the grounds of the hotel are immaculate! Lovely walking paths, the marina, beach, awesome pool, good restaurants and you got a theme park view! I have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts and the Poly is my second favorite behind the Grand F. It just smells good! lol.... You won't be missing the Boardwalk one bit!

You are so lucky. I would love to stay there and hope to in the future. Unfortunately we go during President's weekend and they jack the prices up too high. I hope to go at a different time of year one day so we can stay there during a lower price season. Have a great trip.

The Poly is a huge upgrade. Congrats! Aside from a DVC resort, the Poly would be my first choice.

If you hate it then just look outside and enjoy your THEME PARK VIEW!! You got a huge upgrade! I would be over the moon excited!!!!

I love, love Boardwalk......BUT I have stayed at Poly over 30 times and it is fabulous. Don't know how old your daughter is, but access to the Magic Kingdom is so easy from Poly. Takes a long bus ride from Boardwalk...and Poly has fireworks and the water parade from the beach.

So how many people just smacked their foreheads saying "she would give up a TPV at the Poly?" Yes the boardwalk is great, but TPV at the Poly is, IMHO, one of the most desired "regular" rooms at WDW

You can call and ask - it wouldn't hurt, but...Poly is the best hotel on property IMO and I have stayed at almost all of the deluxes. You will not be dissappointed, except when you try to book your next trip and find out exactly how expensive it is (and you will want to stay there again )! It is many people's dream to stay there - congrats!!!

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Enjoy the upgrade and hopefully one day you'll get to stay at Boardwalk. Don't call back and give them the chance to find you a room at PQFQ or some other mod.

To the OP I would say you got one amazing upgrade. Your daugther might be upset now but I think once she see's the Polynesian in person she will be happy this happened.

I am certainly jealous - that's an awesome upgrade! The Poly is my favorite place to stay, and due to price, I have only been able to stay once!!! A lot of the other deluxes (Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk, Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge) you can end up renting points from a DVC member and getting them relatively inexpensively... at the Poly you can't.

I have stayed at both POR and the Poly, and also at the Yacht Club, which is next door to the Boardwalk. POR is lovely no doubt, but the Poly is amazing! I could care less about the color of the bedspread or the carpet if everything else is great and trust me, everything else is great and you got the added bonus of a theme park view, OMG, I would not give that up for the Boardwalk any day of the week!

I understand how you feel. I am waiting for my phone call but I have been prepared... I have known since Wednesday morning about the RGR not being available. What are your travel dates? I was hoping for the GF, I know someone on these boards got that today but most are going with the Poly. I do agree with the others that Poly TPV is an amazing upgrade but to my DD, she will not care and will be really upset when we tell her. So, I understand your thoughts. I know most people love the Poly but we stayed there last year and prefer WL.

Congrats on your upgrade! You DD will love seeing the castle from her room and the fireworks!
