I'm sure there's been a thread like this recently, but I couldn't find one, so I apologize. I was recently asking about the dark part in Everest and I think I'm OK with that one now. I don't maybe I have a thing about darkness, but I do love Space Mountain, but once your eyes adjust you see quite a bit. Anyways, now I'm freaking out some about Dinosaur.
Is it that terrifying. Can anyone break down the ride for me. I've heard (SPOILER)

that the car at one point stops in the dark and you hear the big dino coming from behind.

(END SPOILER)

Not sure if that's true or not. I do want to surprised at some things, but I need to will myself to get on it first. How close are the dinosaurs to you?

Let's put it this way, toward the end, you are close enough that when he roars, you feel the wind in your face!

There are times on Dinosaur that it will be pitch black. After the first time I went on it, the only word I could find to use to describe it was: INTENSE!!

There is so much going on at once that it is hard to keep up with everything.

I personally love this ride, but if you don't like the dark, well.......

To be honest, the only way you are going to know is to try it!

Sorry I can't be of more help to you!!

Dinosaur is alot of fun, it is mostly in the dark but the jeep your in never stops in fact it goes pretty fast or feels like it since you really cant see what your doing. There are no drops or anything tho. If your worried just ask who ever you go with to sit on the inside and I think you'll do fine. My DD, DH and I did this ride and had fun, you should have seen the pics of our faces on this ride it was hilarious! Try it!

It actually comes out in front of you and that's when everyone's picture is taken. Dinosaur is a darker ride, a lot of loud dinosaurs noices, and dinos surprising you and popping out. Nothing comes right up to the car you are riding in. Here's the car you ride in....

It makes grown men scream like girls! :scared1:

I personally LOVE this ride.
Yes it is in the dark
Yes some things 'jump' out at you
But it's a lot of fun
Don't sit on the outside edges if you don't like being too close to something jumping out at you.
It's barely ever pitch black (except for maybe a minute or two towards the end)
Give it a try. :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. I do think I actually feel a little better about the ride. Can't wait to post about everything when I get back, although I'm not going until Sept. 1-7, so I've got some time.

I don't recommend Dinosaur for you. It is extremely dark, loud, and scary. After the ride, we viewed the photo in the gift shop. Everyone in our jeep except me was crouched down in fear. I was sitting up straight, but I was scared and wanted the ride to be over. My wife and I agreed to never ride Dinosaur again. On the other hand, Expedition Everest was a blast. Try it. Have fun.

I just had to comment on the fact that the kid in the back row looks like he is sleeping :)

Dinosaur really isn't that bad. It is dark at some points, the "Chase" towards the end is pitch black while you are maneuvering to get away from the Dinosaur, but other than that it is Dark, but not so dark that you can't see anything. As others have said we can't make the decision for you, but it is a great ride. I was on the opening crew for it (gosh that seems like SOOOOO long ago) and it really is hit or miss, I have had 7 year olds come off in hysterical laughter wanting to go again and grown adults freaking out. It really is based on your preferences.

I got the worst bruise of my life on Dinosaur! I was black and blue with a bruise the size of a baseball for a month :sad2:

Dinosaur really isn't so bad...& I am not a "scary ride" person. I will not do any roller coasters. (I even get scared on the Peter Pan ride in MK). In May I did ride Dinosaur with my familly. It was not too bad. Of course, the only time I was really scared was when they took the ride picture - and my eyes were closed!! We bought a poster anyway because I didn't think I'd be riding again that trip.

It is a very jerky ride, not a good one if you have back or neck troubles. I have a bad back and and then and do pretty much lock myself tight so as to not jerk around much. As for dark, how about Haunted Mansion or so dark for most of it? Maybe just a bit darker, but generally, except for a few parts, you can see where your vehicle is going and where you are.
