I've read it's scary...what about it is scary, never been, so trying to get an idea of if we'd even want to attempt it with DD (6) or not?

You can youtube about any ride at the world. So i would start there, there are some nice videos from the front seat of all the rides. I get my fix that way :)

It's scary. It scares adults and kids alike. The car drives around, lurches and jolts at every turn, and giant animatronic dinosaurs lunge out at you intending to scare you, and they maximize the surprise by getting you to look one way then get you from the other. There's also flashing lights on your car, and a loud score that adds to the sense of impending doom as you're evacuating this planet before the dinosaurs go extinct. It's really good tho. My DD5 and DS7 both rode it, and lived to tell the tale. DD6... yeah she'll be scared. But that's the point. :)

When DD was 5 we took her on it and we probably shouldn't have. She was scared of dinosaurs though and they are scary on that ride. We took her on it when she was 7 i think and she did perfectly fine and thought it was fun! So it really just depends on your kid!

It's like Jurassic Park, but in real life. If your child is easily frightened, I'd skip it. While the car ride itself is fun, some of the dinosaurs are super loud and startling. I won't ride it because it's too scary(even though I know it's coming), but my kids at around the same age as yours like it. I like the suggestion of checking it out on YouTube.

It's hard to tell with DD sometimes as to what will and won't scare her. I'll definitely show her a YouTube video and go from there.

I'm kind of hoping she'll do it because it sounds pretty neat to me, though I'd never make her do something like this. Do they offer child swap on this one if DH and I want to try it out?

Thanks everyone!

The ride is rough. The first time I rode I had a brken humerus with my left arm in a sling. It was hard holding on.

The first time DS rode it, he was 5. Scared the socks off of him. But then, so did ToT and a bunch of others he was tall enough for at the time but in every case he wanted to get back on and do it again.

I guess it could scare a susceptible child but the thing I'd warn adults about is that it's very jerky. If you have neck or back issues you may consider skipping this.

My youngest rode this for the first time at 7, and she is extremely adventurous. She HATED it. She was clutching me the whole ride, and that is SO not like her. The only other "ride" I have ever seen this on was Stitch, which seems silly, but that ride is wicked stupid and I think causes anxiety in kids because you never know when he could "jump out".
This ride is the same. It creates a scary sense of anticipation. If she is not a ran of the jumpy, then maybe you should skip it.
To put things in perspective, She LOVES all the mountains, not scared of any roller coaster or other ride at any other park.

We went Saturday with a big group of family members and their kids are 5,8,10 and they were fine. The youngest kind of snuggled up next to her mom. I didn't hear any other kids crying or see crying either.

This does help, thanks. DD loves roller coasters, but I can see her being spooked by the eeriness and anticipation of not knowing what's coming next

The ride is very rough. Jerks you around a lot. I do tend to get queazy but after this ride I am little sick to my stomach because it kind of moves you up and down and side to side in a jolting way.

It is scary. At one point in particular a Dinosaur really come towards you and it took me by surprise and I shut my eyes. When my Child was 4 she really wanted to go on it. After she asked to go again (I said no way). When she was 5 she wanted to go on it again and I thought nothing of it. When we got home and viewed the pictures from the ride she looked terrified! It can be scary the way the dinosaurs lunge at you and it is dark and the atmosphere can be off putting. It really depends on the child.

I know next time I will skip it because it is not worth the queazy feeling after for me. I had to sit on the bench for a little while. It also aggravates a shoulder injury I had some time ago. I would definitely say if you have back issues or neck do not chance the ride.

I recently watched the youtube of this because I can remember being terrified when I was 13! I don't think the youtube does it justice for the shock and awe value...

Glad I can help! It is set aside so much you can glaze over it and she won't even know she is missing it!

I took my oldest son it on when he was 5 and he hated it. He's almost 11 now and still refuses to ride it.

It is super loud. I don't mind it so much, but my brother hates it just because of the noise. If you think she is going to be scared...I would just wait. My parents took me on It's Tough To Be A Bug when I was young and I remember being terrified. Im 24 and it still scares me when I think about riding it...even though I'm sure its not as bad as I remember!
