Dinosaur Confessions.....

OMG!! I'm sooo glad I'm not the only one! The first time I rode Dinosaur I was a little un-nerved during the pre=show when they kept stressing "keep your seat belt on at all times." A little more firmly than other rides in WDW. Well just after we started on the ride I felt my seat belt open and began to panic! I spent the whole ride trying to re fasten my seat belt and couldn't figure out what was holding me in my seat!? When the Dino jumped out I just about had a stroke! When we finally got to the end I discovered it wasn't my seat belt but my fanny pack that had opened! I have ridden it since and did so with my eyes closed the whole time. We are going back to WDW in December. Will I ride Dinosaur again? Probably!

This is a pic of my DD and her DF on the ride the time I thought I was a gonner. They are both 15 at the time. Dosen't it look like they are having fun?

I must say that this is the only ride that scares me! I've only been on it twice and in both the photos...you can tell how freaked out I am...haha! When that dinosaur roars and they snap the photo...that is a good scare!!!

I think if kids love dinosaurs they would like this ride. Every child is different, and you know your own child best. :)

The first time I rode it I screamed a lot, but the thing that I didn't like was that it was so LOUD! At the end of the ride I was just laughing like crazy though. The second time I rode it I put ear plugs in -- I thought this made it much less intense and way more fun!

I'm with you, my fellow Dinosaur wimps! The first time I went on with 7yo (8yo?) DS. He flung his head in my lap and I flung myself on top of him. In the picture we looked like some sort of complicated headless creature. It looks as though I would have done anything to protect my firstborn, but I probably would have fed him to the carnotaur if that had been my ticket out of there! :lmao: I think I've been on it 3 more times, each time with my head hidden, or at the very least with my eyes shut. DS is now 13 and DD is 10 and they're both pretty blasé about this ride, and think it's hilarious that their mother can't keep her eyes open. For some reason, none of the other rides bother me - just this one.

Okay this is funny as there was a thread a while ago asking people what ride terrified them.....I voted for Dinosaur, here is my story I posted :teeth:

My vote goes to Dinosaur, I've been on it 2 times now and in each picture that is taken at the end I'm in the fetal position hiding behind my boyfriend, ya really can't even see my front half!!! I have seen probably 2-3 dinosaurs throughout the entire ride and that's usually when the person talking says "Oh no that's not him he's a vegetarian dinosaur", I usually look up for a few seconds then but right after that it's back to hiding!!!

I just can't get past the intense sounds of people yelling and dinosaur's roaring in the speaker right next to my head! I've been close to crying at the end when he keeps telling us that we might not make it back and you can hear the dinosaur running behind you........I just keep screaming back at him that we better make it back I won't try this ride again....2 times is my max for getting the snot scared out of me!

I'm so glad I'm not alone...here's my story:

My mom, a family friend, and I went to AK the year it opened (about three months after it opened, I think). We all three rode Dinosaur, and I don't remember much about the ride except that I liked it.

Ok, great.

So on our honeymoon about 5 years after the above-mentioned ride, I say to my DH, "Hey, I remember this ride. I liked it. Let's go!" DH and I both love roller coasters, so he was all for it. We get through the line, the pre-show, get on the ride, and I can feel my heart beating a little faster. I don't really think I like this ride after all. I'm clutching DH's hand, and he's just laughing away at the ride while I feel like the ride will never end. And when that darn Carnasaurous (or whatever the proper spelling is) jumped out at me, well, the expressions on our faces were priceless enough for us to purchase the picture. :rotfl: The best part, however, is that DH has this expression on his face like, "oh, gee, is that all? I'm mildly amused" while I'm wearing an expression of the type granny used to warn against, in case my face froze that way. (And I love the teens behind us in the car...the girl looks like she's trying to crawl under the guy she's with, while he looks like he just wet his pants!) The contrast between the two of us in the picture is pretty funny now, although that day, well, not so much.

I told DH I wasn't going to ride that EVER AGAIN! And so far, I've stuck to my resolution...

I'm kinda of a ride wuss sometimes, but Dinosaur just doesnt really mess with me. I might need a massage after the ride, but I'm not scared.:earsboy:

ha ha What a cute thread. Okay everyone say this with me:

"My name is (insert name here) and I am scared to ride Dinasour."

I personally LOVE this ride so much that on our last trip I tried to ride it three times, but it broke down and I only got to ride it twice. I almost cried..how sad is that? :confused3 Of course I was already sad because it was our last day.

POSSIBLE SPOILER BELOW FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NEVER RIDDEN!!!!!!!

BTW,if you leave your eyes open and really look at the T-Rex it is not as bad, plus if your eyes are open you can see it coming up if you look for it. Just as you go around that little curve (not sure how else to describe it) look out the side of the car and you can see it a little in the darkness.

The first time I rode this I had my face burried and the family bought the picture and all the other people were calmly smiling... how can this be. When my husband and I rode a couple times back in September I smiled at the camera, but it was hard. I do love it though and wouldn't pass up the opportunity to ride.

Hello, my name is Ben and I admit that Dinosaur scared me the first time I rode it. Almost need clean shorts afterwards. THAT VARMENT TRIED TO EAT ME!!!

I wasn't the scaredy cat this time.... :p

A couple of vacations ago, I went on Dinosaur by myself (everyone else was chicken!) and I ended up chatting it up with an elderly couple in front of me. When we boarded the ride, I sat on the end, next to the elderly woman of the couple. Throughout the entire ride, the woman was squeezing my thigh (not in an inappropriate way[it was just above my knee]) because she was so scared!

Dinosaur is in my top five! I drag my family on it several times each trip --they don't like it as much as I do, but they humor me!

I must brag...I'm not easily scared in the least. A far cry from 20-some-odd years ago when my uncle forced me onto PotC and I screamed my bloody head off, but anyway...my first ride on Dinosaur (back when it was Countdown to Extinction), I refused to buy the ride photo because of the expression on my face. Everyone in the car is leaning away from the dinosaur in fear, but I'm just sitting there, smirking, one eyebrow up, and the look on my face says "You've got to be kidding. Yeah, come on, you overgrown lizard, I'd like to see you try and eat me."

I just can't WAIT for this ride!!!

But, are you saying I should make sure I go to the restrooms right BEFORE we get in line? :lmao:

Ok I will admit I was a little scared too, I mean that jeep went a bit faster than I was expecting and I couldnt see a thing most of the time..lol My biggest fear was being thrown out of the vehicle..Im getting a seat on the inside next time!

Yes Micca a deep tissue massage. It is rough. But, scary nah.

These are too funny! We haven't ridden Dinosaur in a couple of years but the kids seemed to really love it. This year my youngest is anxious to ride it. He's my thrill junkie so I think he'll be fine.

I think that funniest (and most sad) thing about the ride is the amount of people you see in the ride photos who have their eyes closed, are ducking into their own laps, or are screaming hysterically....my wife included
