Dinosaur closing this summer for 2 months

Sad! :( More sad about BTMRR, but I was looking forward to riding Dinosaur again. Hope it's up next year.

At least it'll be closing after they introduce the night time activities.

And regarding why they would close it during the summer months..it really doesn't matter. No matter when they close it, it's going to affect park goers and it's not like summer is the only busy time. If they closed it later in the year it would be around Halloween/Christmas..if they closed it earlier in the year it would be around spring break. There's no slow time at Disney anymore when it would make more sense to close a ride down. So I'm just glad their doing it after they bring the night time activities out

From Memorial Day on out expect Ak to be open until around 9pm-11pm nightly

The only thing I expect with AK at this point is not to expect anything. Until something is actually open and an event/show/ride is happening, I'm not counting on it...

I just saw this last night and I'm so sad. We love Dinosaur even more than BTMR!! ALSO sad that MuppetVision 3D will be down for one week, which happens to be THE WEEK we are there. :'(

What week is it that Muppets is closed???

Never mind--just checked. Same week we're there. We leave on the 23rd so maybe we'll get to see it on our last day. Another one of my kids' favorites. This better be the last one....

Add Riverboat, Treehouse and One Man's Dream....

I saw this yesterday and was so bummed! My mom and sisters are coming on this trip with us after not being to Disney in 10 years and of course two main attractions, Dinosaur and BTMRR, will be closed for refurbishment :(

When is small world down? I can't find the dates posted

Small world was scheduled for 8/22-9/16. Some sites still have it as being closed, some have it off of the refurb list. It seems the refurb was on, then off, then I heard it was back on. I'm not sure if it will be open or not though because the sites do not agree.

Somehow I've always lucked out in not having any favorites closed on my trips. I know they need to do these sorts of things from time to time, but I often wonder if it is necessary to have multiple big attractions closed at once? Obviously BTM is a big attraction in MK and one that I love riding all the time when I go (also the only "coaster" that my mom ever rode with me as she doesn't like wild rides). I guess I consider Dinosaur a big attraction in AK. It seems to me that as a company that you would plan only one big ride to be closed at a time. A secondary, smaller ride could be closed and not be as noticeable. But if you think about having two big rides closed, a giant section of Hollywood Studios closed for construction of new lands, construction mess in AK in preparation for Pandora....it just seems like someone in marketing should be thinking about the perceived value that the customer has and make wiser decisions on timing. As I said, I know it has to get done. I just feel that it could be done differently.

It's a lot to be closed but I guess they have to do the maintenance at some point or the rides will break beyond repair. And there really isn't a true slow season anymore.

It stinks though when it's your trip and one of your favorite rides.

It kind of needs it. There seemed to be a lot not working on our trip a few weeks ago, and it seemed extra dark in other parts (almost like they just turned out the lights so we couldn't see what wasn't working).

BTM has been planned for awhile but was pushed back. Seems like its refurb is finally going to happen. Dinosaur, I think what happened is that the ride kept breaking down so they realized it needs to get fixed asap. But they decided to hold it off until the AK night time stuff is introduced. That's what I'm thinking since the Dinosaur refurb hasn't been scheduled for months in advance like usual refurbs are. I always seem to be at the park when it's working fine..but I see a lot of people on here talking about how it's constantly closed and then reopened or animatronics aren't operating. So probably something they couldn't hold off

We were there at Christmas and had BTM break down and Dinosaur go stuck twice when riding.

Thanks for that response. I guess I don't look ahead at the refurb schedule or anything. I've just seen some of the comments on here over the past year or so and it just seemed (though could be imagination) that two big rides are closed at once more than one would expect. That said, if they want it working before Pandora, what are the odds of them fixing Yeti as well?

Just saw that the dates were extended for the refurbishment. So bummed that it's now going to be totally closed during our trip. It was going to reopen on Sept 30  Now We are totally missing BTMR and Dinosaur. So bummed.
