How rough or bouncy is the Dinosaur ride at AK? I've watched YouTube videos, but it's so dark that I can't tell.

It's very rough. Couldn't tell you anything else about it, since my eyes have always been closed. :scared1:

It is rough - very bouncy. However I will still ride it. The only ride I won't go on anymore is space mountain. For some reason it is really hard on my neck.

Agree with the others - rough and bouncy. Not sure if you've ever been on Indiana Jones in DL but it's very similar to that. And I would not recommend riding it after riding EE twice in a row... learned that lesson. :rolleyes1

Dinosaur is, by far, the ROUGHEST indoor ride at WDW.
(Space Mtn. is right in there, but not for ENTIRE ride!)

It's certainly "tied" for the absolute LOUDEST
bellowing sound effects.

And there is nothing that comes close in the category of
"Pitch-blackness...
then FULL-BRIGHT LIGHTS illuminating
GIANT DINOS with razor-sharp spiked teeth
LUNGING out straight AT YOU
with DEAFENING-ROAR sound effects."

Then,
more VIOLENT shaking,
jack-rabbit ACCELERATION,
sudden hard BRAKING...
and REPEAT.

All that said, I really ENJOY riding this attraction, and do so every trip.

Dinosaur is based on the same ride technology that is used on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland.

I agree it's very rough and bouncy, but not as 1 has posted lawsuit time , that's silly. I can tell you from my own experience that right after I rode it last time I started to see black spots in my left eye and when I got home it turned out to be a retinal tear! Now I'm not saying Dinosaur was solely the reason because other conditions led to the tears but it play a hand. My head was tossed very hard side to side and back and forth and unfortunately other prior issues came into play at the same time and the result was me seeing the black spots right after the ride. But DW never had a problem and countless others have no issues. I just lucked out now I can't ride it anymore just to be safe

As everyone said, yes it's really rough. I don't have a real problem with it but if you have medical issues or problems with your neck, back, etc. I definitely would not recommend it. it is really fun though!

  • On April 30, 2005, a 30-year-old man from Mooresville, Indiana lost consciousness shortly after exiting the ride and died from a heart attack moments later. An investigation showed the ride was operating correctly and was not the cause of his death; he had an artificial pacemaker.[27]

We ride it every trip, but I bring earplugs.

It's way rougher than you might expect. In our ride photo, both I and a woman a row ahead of me were turned to our loved ones to ask, "Are you okay?" Our hands on their shoulders and everything. It was a funny mirror pose, and reflective of how jarring some portions of it are that we both felt concerned about our respective parties.

That said, I love it. I think it's crazy and fun, but I would caution anyone with neck/back problems against it. The hard braking and acceleration could be painful. And it is indeed very loud!

I had no idea it was as rough as it was and felt awful that I had gotten FP+ for my 68 year old parents to ride it. I was so worried about them the whole time we were on it and frankly, surprised they didn't kill me when we got off!! Although my mom declared that was her last ride at Disney, ever. Funny, they are coming with us in 2 weeks for the next trip! But skipping AK this time around... I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with back or neck issues, definitely no pregnant women or older people either.
