I just got done watching Dinosaur with my 3yo. It's been sometime since it's been on in our house. I have to admit how struck I was at how good it really is. The opening had my DD eyes as big as quarters...It reminded me of my oldest DD when she was that age watching the Lion King for the first time. I know Dino didn't talk and form plans together  but I was hooked. I am a lover of traditional animations so this is a big admission for me. Watching the credits to see where is was made and saw the "Secret Lab". If I remember correctly it was Disneys big toe into the waters of CGI. I really think its a better CGI film then any of the Pixar films.
So what I want to know is what happened to "The Secret LAb"? Was Dinosaur sucessful money wise? If not why not????

TIA!
Sue

Dinosaur was an utter flop and the Secret lab was disbanded. I have not seen the movie, so I cannot rightfully give a review, but most of the ones I've read pan it. not a good story. Again, I've nto seen it, so I can't say myself. Certainly, most seemed to agree. It's rotten tomatoes rating is 63% which is pretty good really. Of course, I suspect that's mainly due to the kinder eyes of the home video market.

Here's a quote form a negative review on Rottentomatos

You begin to get used to the film’s pictorial wondrousness -- to take it for granted, even -- and start to realize that the characters and story are exceedingly mundane, unsurprising and pre-programmed.

I don't know that I'd classify it as an utter flop. Domestic boxoffice at 137+ mill and worldwide at 354+ mill isn't to shappy. I've no idea what DVD/Video sales were. When looking at the number of flicks that never do a domestic gross that equals or exceeds its production cost I'd say Dino was a success. Of course, anything under 250 mill was probably viewed a failure by ME so the whole CGI program was scrapped. So in that sense I'd agree it was a flop.
