We have the dining plan on our upcoming trip to Disney in mid-August. We have all our dinner reservations set up, but one of the nights we are scheduled to go to O'Hana and it seems like there has been a lot of negative things said about it here, so we are questioning that choice. We've never been there, so I don't know much about it.

Would you keep O'Hana if you had the choice or switch to something else? If something else, what is your favorite that isn't on our list? There will be me, my Husband, our Daughter (4) my parents and my 11 year old niece. We prefer a sit down place, and we will be at Animal Kingdom that day so we can pretty much go anywhere in the World.

For reference, here are the other places that we are eating at:

Crystal Palace
50's Prime Time Cafe
Whispering Canyon
Coral Reef
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Thoughts? Suggestions? Therapy for Disney Obsession?

I almost switched our 'Ohana reservation on July 16, too, because I'd read some negative things about it, but I am SO glad we kept it. This was our very favorite place. The food was just so delicious, and my DD had a great time with the kids' activities. I think a lot of people who have criticized 'Ohana recently have fond memories of the previous menu. We hadn't been there before, so it was all new to us.

I, who am not a lover of scalloped or au gratin potatoes, just LOVED 'Ohana's, as did DH. We liked everything we ate. The dessert is also wonderful--and this is coming from someone who never eats bread pudding--and I'm not even a huge fan of ice cream--but 'Ohana's is outstanding.

Now I see you're also scheduled to eat at Whispering Canyon, which we liked 3 years ago, but I was completely disappointed in that one this time around; I posted a review of our dinner on the review board. It wasn't awful, just disappointing and not worth the trip over to WL for us (we were staying at the Polynesian).

Go to 'Ohana, and have fun!

I can't wait to go back to 'Ohana! We were never there with the old menu, they had already changed to the new menu when we went last Fall.

YUMMMMMM YUMM YUMM - have I mentioned I can't wait to go back? :thumbsup2

I'm one of those who has tried it a couple of times, and while I enjoyed the new bread pudding, and I like the sticky wings, and really enjoyed the view, it is now off of our list of places to go at WDW.

However, since you have never been, I guess you might want to consider whether you want to have that experience or if you'd prefer to go somewhere that has better quality food. (For us, the meat selection just wasn't good - dry, overcooked, etc).

Usually, when we have an AK day, we finish off the evening with a trip to the AKL for dinner at Boma. However, for our upcoming trip, we are doing Boma for breakfast instead, then planning to leave AK in the early afternoon and make our way over to DTD for some shopping and fun... then dinner at Raglan Road.

This is our favorite restaurant at WDW!! We've eaten there with the old menu and the new one and loved each one. We have NEVER been disappointed there and have always had a great waiter ... we'll be there again in December ... it was the first ADR I made! :thumbsup2

Go and Enjoy! pixiedust:

I would either keep 'Ohana or go to Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The food at Boma is better than the food at 'Ohana, but 'Ohana has fun activities for kids (plus if your ADRs are timed right you might be able to view Wishes from your table). If you go to Boma, you can take them outside to see the animals on the Savannah though.

IMO, I thought the food quality was excellent! All personal taste - definately try it for yourself! :thumbsup2
