Dinner Shows

We have booked to go back again in Sept this year for 3 weeks (1 week St Pete's then 2 weeks Orlando) and I was wondering if anybody could give me their opinions of the dinner shows ie value for money, quality of meals, entertainment, what if any drinks are included in the price etc etc.

We are looking at possible Dolly Partons and Pirates.

There will be 6 adults and DD who would have just turned 5.

I haven't done either show but from reading these boards you will find that Pirates gets a very bad write up. We considered it last trip but decided against it after advice from the boards. Dolly Partons get much better reviews and has been recommended by DIS boarders.

We did the Disney Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review at Wilderness Lodge, this was great fun, suitable for all and the food was not bad either.

We did the Pirates dinner show and thought it very poor value for money.

We didn't have good seats and saw little of the show which took place at the front of the boat (we were sitting nearer the back). The show (and pre-show) seemed very much geared to extract as much money from you as possible.

Even our kids (7 and 10) thought it was poor.

It has put us off doing any other show.

No experience myself but agree that the Pirates always seem to get a bad write up

I have always fancied the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness and the Disney's Spirit of Aloha at The Polynesian.

We've done Medieval Times And Arabian Nights in the past. MT had a good show and very good food while AN had a very good show but the food left a little to be desired. We're doing Dolly's in April and all the reviews point to it being very good on both counts too!

DO NOT GO TO PIRATES!!!!

We went there for our meal on our wedding day last October. What a complete waste of money. We paid extra to get front row seats which guarantees that your child gets to be in the show and you get "lots of extras". This consisted of a string of beads.

My kids (10 and 8) couldnt work out what was going on and neither could we. The set looks good, but the sound quality is poor and we really didnt know when to cheer or not!! We were bullied (and I mean bullied!!!) to give a huge tip.

Food was awful. Show was rubbish.

To be honest, its put my off the whole "dinner show" idea.

Did Hoop-De-Doo a few years ago and was very disappointed. We ended up sat right near the back so just didn't 'get into' the show at all. Also service was poor and apart from the strawberry shortcake so was the food.

Having said that, I believe we're very much in the minority and many others love it. For me, if I'm spending that sort of money I want guaranteed enjoyment and we didn't get it.

Now the 'Top Of The World' ... that really WAS a show! Unfortunately long gone.

We have done Mickeys Back Yard BBQ in the past - and it was ok... not really our scene.. (couldnt get my husband line dancing!) _ not even sure if they still do it.

We have since done twice actually Dolly partons Dixie Stampede. Now I have to be honest, there is no way I would have gone there if I hadnt been persuaded by a good friend who works there.. but.. I was very pleasantly suprised.

The food was really really good. Delicious soup, followed by a whole roast chicken - which was delicious, actually I cant do the meal justice by talking about it.. it was really really good!

the show was great fun - and spectacular. Hardly any dolly parton at all (thank goodness..!) _ and even as a Brit, we really enjoyed it. Lots of audience participation.

I would recommend it - the building is spectacular too...
