We are leaving next week for Disney and are not sure about dinner shows. We did Hoop de doo when my kids were younger a couple of times and want to try something different. DD is 11 and DS is 16. What about the Polynesian or the Backyard Bbque? Should I go to Orlando and go to the Arabian Nights, Mystery Sleuth, ect. instead? Any info would help! :cool1:

If you are leaving next week there will probably not be a lot of options for you for dinner shows. You should definately try to get Hoop-Dee-Doo but it is probably all booked. After that check Mickey's Backyard BBQ and then check Spirit of Aloha if Backyard BBQ is booked. Hoop-Dee-Doo is really funny!!

I'd suggest trying for the Polynesian show--it's an awful lot of fun!
We have ADRs for this show in September. Haven't heard many people talk about this lately. Will my DS2 like it, or will he be bored? Is Lilo and Stitch in it? Any info you have would be great!

TIA

would also like info on the luau. has been many years since we have seen it. as far as lilo/stitch, there is no mention of them on deb's site "where the characters dine" section. thanks!

We went to the polynesian show last year. It was nice, relaxing, hot (it's covered but it is outside). It features traditional hawaiian/polynesian dance. My kids (7,5,2.5 at the time) all were entertained, plus you are still eating during the show. They call the little ones up on stage to teach them a few moves, which is really cute. We have video of my dd2.5 just giving everyone the strangest look and not doing any of the moves! Also a big hit was the flamethrower!
No Lilo & Stitch though. I thought that would be a good addition. Stitch is everywhere else, it seems!

If you cannot get into any of the on site shows, try the Dixie Stampede in Orlando, the food is real good and the show is very entertaining for all ages. But you eat with your hands, no silverware. :sunny:

We LOVE Arabian Nights. If your family loves horses, it's such a beautiful show! I'm not familar with a teenaged boy's reactions, but I know your DD will be facinated!

You can get VERY good rates at UnderCoverTourist and TicketMania. TicketMania is actually cheaper, but remember you have to pay shipping there. UnderCoverTourist has free shipping.... if you choose to purchase dinner theater tickets, and choose one of those two sites, remember to click through the Mousesavers newletter for better rates.
I believe both can be either delivered to your Hotel or picked up.

It's not far at all from Disney world, it's in Kissimee.. about 10-15 minutes away depending on where in Disney you're staying. I know how to get there, but I don't know the names of the highways. It's down the road (maybe 1/4 mi) from the Radisson Resort Celebration (Parkway) if that helps. So you don't need to go all the way to Orlando!

I'd go off site. We've done Arabian Nights and Dixie Stampede and both were way better than Spirit of Aloha (and cheaper too). I like the food better at Dixie, but the entertainment is better at Arabian Nights. I've heard Medieval Times is great as well and hope to try that on a future trip.

I would make the following suggestions:

Hoop-De-Doo is excellent, no matter how many times you've been there in the past.

The Spirit of Aloha evening is also outstanding.

An evening seeing the Circus of the Soul at the West Side is great, especially if you have made reservations either before of after the show at the House of Blues.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive, the meal and show at Mideviel Times is also a really nice evening.

I've done all four several times, and always enjoyed the evening.

Enjoy.

I would call about hoop-de-doo anyways. You can sometimes get the 9:30 show. It is just as good as the others. We were there last Nov and loved the late show!
