Dinner Restaurants Hilton Head

The restaurants most likely don't want you showing up in a bathing suit. Similar to the no shirt, no shoes, no service signs.

Another question regarding attire/dress codes. I have noticed most of the restaurants state they have a “casual resort” dress code. It seems jeans and flip flops are not allowed in many restaurants, is this true?
When we go to a nicer restaurants on HHI, we normally wear dress/polo.
When we go to any other restaurant on HHI, we seem to always be in flip flop and shorts and tshirt.

I can only think of one restaurant in all of HHI that truly had a no flip-flop or tank top vibe. and that one doesn't exist any more-Old Fort Pub. Actually I kind of miss that place. It used to be you had Chef Gordon's "A Private Affair". or Old Fort Pub for a truly special occasion.

Just wrapping up our after Easter HHI visit for 2 and wanted to share two more highly recommended places to eat.

FARM, in Bluffton - recommended by multiple people during our walk around Bluffton. They are a casual upscale restaurant (farm to table) that often changes/updates their menu. Choices are somewhat limited but everything that we ate was impressive.

The Sage Room - sat at the Chef’s counter, watching the busy open kitchen. Plenty of choices here and watching the chefs cook didn’t make our choices any easier. Everything looked good. I boldly chose the Tomahawk pork chop and surprisingly ate the whole thing! Even gnawed on the bone a bit. The staff here was very friendly, and the chefs did talk to us a bit even as they hectically managed their food preparation duties.

We patronized two new (to us) restaurants the past four days, and I highly recommend both.
FARM: Located in Old Town Bluffton, it has an eclectic vibe and a farm-to-table authenticity we enjoyed. We did the chef's tasting menu which is four courses and eight dishes (small plates but still plenty of food--we took some home) that cost $70 per person. There was everything from snapper crudo (exceptionally fresh, with the unctuousness of the fish cut by acidic elements like pomegranate seeds), to steak tartare with a chile aoli, to mussels fra diavolo, and more. The last two dishes (fourth course) included a light sponge cake with baked, macerated strawberries and a key lime panna cotta. Only one of these items (the crudo) is on their regular menu. Honestly, one of the top three meals we've had since moving here two years ago.
NUNZIO'S: Located on restaurant row which is New Orleans Road, tonight's meal was exceptional from start to finish. The grilled octopus was sublime, the carpaccio divine, and our entrees were equal to both of those. The wild boar fusilli was rich and deep, and my ravioli of the day (spinach and ricotta in a light tomato cream sauce) was subtle yet full of richness balanced with the acidity of some roasted cherry tomatoes. Their wine list is one of the best on the island, too. Service? Impeccable. We've always been OMBRA Cucina fans, but tonight's dining experience may have displaced OMBRA as #1 on our list.

We had a great meal at Nunzio‘s as well Sleepy!
We were surprised at the quality, though not sure why. Service: exemplary. Wine list: topnotch. Ambiance: Perfect pairing of Puglia region of Italy and low country vibe. Food: expertly done and savory. I'm ready to go back!
