Hi everyone,

We have never been to Disney and have just started planning an unexpected trip in June. Can I make dinner reservations without deciding on our resort yet or do you have to have everything already set? Have I waited too long to get reservations? We are interested in Ohana's, Coral Reef, Sci Fi Dine In, and the Princess on at Epcot. I'm assuming it's much too late to get the castle at MK. So, can I call and make these reservations now, before we confirm our hotel? And do you have to pay at the time of reservations? Can I cancel if I change my mind? And does anyone have any better suggestions for first timers?

Thank you in advance!

You do not have to staying at a WDW resort to make reservations for dining. They will ask you what resort you are staying at - just say you are not sure yet or you are staying offsite. June might be cutting it a little close but I would not hesitate to make dining reservations.

'Ohanas is our favorite place to eat. Depending on the time you eat and the start of Wishes - you can watch Wishes from 'Ohanas. Or - if you have finished eating - head down to the beach and watch from there.

It might be difficult to get the princess meal in Norway at this late date - but you can always try.

You do not have to prepay for any of these meals when you make reservations. You might have to prepay for the castle but I am not sure as we have not eaten there in a few years. You have to prepay for the dinner shows (Luau and Hoop de do) and a few years ago we had to prepay for reservations for New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Other than that "Happy Eating".

You sure can make the ressies now. You can cancel if necessary. You shouldn't have to prepay for any of those unless it is a holiday.

Also, one thing to mention. I see you are choosing Sci-Fi. If you are doing the Fantasmic package with Sci-Fi dinner, you will have to put down a credit card so they hold your spot.
Since you said this was your first Disney trip, as an FYI....The Fantasmic package allows you to have 'reserved' seats for the Fantasmic show so you do not have to wait in line. So just a heads up if you are planning to do that. It is optional.
And you can make those reservations any time you wish. No need to wait.

Enjoy your first Disney trip!

Last I checked the only places that do a fantasmic package are Hollywood and Vine, Brown Derby and Mama Melrose. So i'm not sure if the last post is accurate. Someone help us all out?

Doing the Princess Breakfast in Norway on our trip in August, and I had to give the credit card. Guess it is pretty popular. As far as Fantasmic! packages, we were told that Sci-Fi is not on it. HTH

oh my goodness. You are all right. Sci-fi is not part of the fantasmic package. I don't know what i was thinking. I'll blame it on Friday afternoon and almost 5pm. Sorry about that.
