we just realized that our passes have an expiry date on them (14 days from 1st use) and we have a 19 day trip planned! so our first full day in orlando will be spent recovering from the flight, grocery shopping, and maybe a nice meal outside of the parks. can anyone recommend a nice meal for a family of 6 (2, 4, 6 and 8..and mom and dad) out of the parks? characters would be cool but not necessary.

CM is a lot of fun! The food is average but we always find something we like on the buffet. The characters are great and it's a great way to kick off a Disney vacation::MickeyMo

I also like 'Ohana at the poly:goodvibes

I haven't had breakfast at CM so I can't compare the two but I do like dinner. The salad bar was small but good. The peel and eat shrimp were great but messy so i didn't eat very many. There was beef and turkey at the carving station too. My favorite part was the mashed potatoes!! My DH enjoyed the salmon.

I am not big on desserts and I really don't recall what I had but my DDs went back for seconds:goodvibes

You will hear a lot of mixed reviews but we like it.

Have you looked into upgrading to an annual pass? I would think that the "break even" point would fall somewhere in the timeframe of a 19 day trip.

we actually collect airmiles and have collected enough to redeem for 7 day passes that we plan to upgrade to 10 days at the parks. we have done that before and it worked well. thanks for the suggestion though.

although....if my husband upgraded his to an annual pass we would get a free parking pass, right? that might make the difference worth it.

Did you mean off site? If you did and have a car, we like Market street Cafe. It's in the Celebration development in Orlando about 10 miles away from the Beach club. only takes us about 15 minutes to get there.

It's a 50's sock hop diner. serve delicious breakfastes all day long and other soda fountain favorites.

Similar to beaches and cream. very relax and great food.
