I know it is late to ask this, but a friend from my Sunday School class asked us today for a recommendation. We have never been on Thanksgiving so I couldn't answer. I told her I could find out on this board, so please give some advise...a back up choice would be good since most places will probably already be booked for the day.

I believe a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is what she is looking for, but something different would be interesting, too.

This late in the game, choice might not be too much of an option. Personally we are eating at the YC Galley. It's a "thanksgiving buffet" with a carving station. Last year we ate at the YC Convention Center. Large spread of food, but no wheres near homey enough for me.

I second that. I called 1st thing 60 days out to get CRT and LTT for dinner. LTT sold out the first 40 min Disney's phone lines were open. I'd tell her to get on the phone and see what her options are.

They need to call NOW! At this point it is more of what do you have left. Most of the restaurants are already booked up. But pretty much all of the disney restaurants, excluding the WS restaurants serve the traditional thanks meal on Thanks. Day.

Thanks, I'll tell her to try the Yatch Club Galley and to go with anything they have left. I knew it was getting kind of late to make anything specific, but she is a "newby" to Disney and didn't realize how busy any of the Holidays can be.

To correct travelitis...LTT was full in 15min. Both dh and I tried calling....my cell phone zonked out and dh was delayed by our 2yo waking up. What are we doing? Well, we have a 3:40pm ps at the Garden Grill and a 9:40pm ps at the Whispering Canyon Cafe, not sure what we'll actually decide to do. We had originally reserved Artist Point, but decided that it might not be a good idea with kids who have been in a car for the entire previous night....we've had mixed success with our first day meals at WDW, and with how expensive Artist Point's Thanksgiving meal is...we didn't want to end up leaving halfway through.

I've been trying to get an earlier seating at Whispering Canyon...or get in at LTT, but no luck so far. I'm really not sure what is available at this point but I know for a fact that LTT, Whispering Canyon, and Chef Mickey's are full. I don't know if the Garden Grill has room left or not. I'm apprehensive about eating at the Garden Grill...our last experience there was imo just okay...though dh and the kids enjoyed it. But it is very much a "down home" sort of place...so it fits for Thanksgiving. And they will be serving pumpkin pie for dessert according to the dining cm, as well as turkey replacing the chicken in their usual menu.....I was a bit let down to receive lemon meringue pie in July when I was hoping for something with either chocolate or ice cream (though I now have discovered that there is good reason for the lemon meringue...it was Walt's favorite dessert!) But Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie would be just plain wrong!

But anyway...sort of writing off the top of my head....I suggest they make a list of ideas then call dining to see what's available...or just call and find out what's left!

I hadn't heard of anyone getting rejected for LTT earlier than 40 min. out. I'm not shocked it sold out in 15 min, though. I got through at 6:58, made PS for CRT then PS for 9 seats at LTT for dinner, and the only time available for our party was 4:30. I hung up at 7:03:30 according to www.atomictime.net. Our back-up was Garden Grill.

Also, if they are going to be in MK that day, they can make a PS at CRT first thing in the morning in person at the podium I believe. I would have them call CRT directly and ask, but I would assume this is how it is this yr since its how its been done for major holidays the past couple of yrs!

I guess we just got particularly unlucky! LOL We did get CRT for the following day...the first day we tried for it....so the ps fairies weren't entirely working against us!

I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving meal, no matter where you're eating it!
