Would you recommend Mama Melrose or Hollywood & Vine for the Fantasmic Dinner Package? We have 3 kids ages 11, 8 & 5.

Thanks!

I picked Mama Melrose because it is a sit down restaurant so you don't have to continue to get up and help the little ones get food from the buffet. Plus, most kids like pasta.

I think it depends....I voted on Mama Melrose because I have already done Hollywood and Vine, and want to do something different.

If you are on the dining plan, then go for the more expensive one that is still worth only 1 credit, which is Mama Melrose--more bang for the buck.
But, if you are paying for it yourself (like we did the last time), then we went for the less expensive one, Hollywood and Vine to save money, but still get the Fantasmic seating. :teeth:

The Fantasmic Package at Mamas limits your selections - keep that in mind! To be honest, there is little on Mamas menu that interests me. H&V has a great selection and the mini desserts let you try them all and not feel too guilty :rolleyes1 . We always use H&V for our Fantasmic Packages now ...

I voted for Hollywood & Vine. I enjoyed the buffet and they had lots to choose from. We had lunch at Mama Melrose and didn't think it was that great, they didn't really have that many options or pasta choices.

We recently did the Fantasmic Package at Mama Melrose, and it was excellent!!! It was one of our favorite sit-down meals during our stay! My father really enjoyed the pasta with peppers - he said it was the best he ever had!

I have eaten at Hollywood and Vine, and really didnt' like it. I don't know if it was just the night we ate there, but the food wasn't all that good. :confused3

I would go with Mama Melrose! :thumbsup2

I voted for Mama Melroses. I have never been to H&V's but we really enjoyed Mama Melroses when we were there in November. I had the chciken parm and it was excellent. The menu choices were soemwhat limited IMO but we had great service. Have you looked at the menus on www.allearsnet.com

Mama's!

I DON'T do buffets, so that automatically ruled H&V out for us. Plus, our kids really like pasta. We were very pleased with our meal at Mama's. The Fantasmic plan limits your choice of appetizers, you get the salad bowl and a flatbread, but we got to choose which flatbread. All of the entree's were available, as well as any dessert off the menu. Kids shared in the salad and flatbread, and chose their entrees and desserts from the kids menu. I didn't mind the restrictions, we definitely got our $$$ worth.

We did both and really enjoyed them both... Mama Melrose was soooo good the thin pizza was great... my son really enjoyed it there a lot and our waiter was wonderful, the atmosphere was fun, we had a blast... H&V was great too, the buffet has a lot to choose from and the kids loved the ice cream bar with all the fixings... so it's a question of taste, time and what you feel like eating. Good luck deciding ha!

I voted for Mama's because we like the food. We were going to try H & V for December trip coming up until they changed it to a preschool character meal. DD is 9 and would not like the preschool theme.

Different opinion, here, BUT I've never been to either. We're doing the Fantasmic package at H&V on the logic that at a buffet we should be able to find something that everyone in our group will like, rather than being restricted to a sub-menu at Mama Melrose's. Plus our kids have trouble sitting still through a TS meal, so a buffet gives them a little more opportunity to "get the wiggles out." Good thing g'ma and g'pa will be there with us to help out too!

Considering I put H&V at the bottom of my list of places to eat, hate this buffet. I would eat at one of the counter serve places before I would eat here again, not worth the money. I'd picked MM.

I do like the food at MM but find it to be spicy, not hot spicy but heavy on the herbs mostly oregano. I do like the flat bread pizza.

Disney's MGM for some reason does not have good restaurants. Counter serve are awful. Your forced to have a sit down meal. I've tried them all except The Brown Derby. Sci-Fi is great for burgers and shakes, and a fun place for kids. "50's Prime Time, seems to be the one restaurant we continually return too. Food is OK. Have never gotten an over the top server, they have all been good.

I am doing Mama Melrose's for the FDP because we are going to the H&V character breakfast in the morning and the Brown Derby is not family friendly enough. I went there 10 years ago and I remember it being pretty good.

We love the variety at H&V! We have a vegetarian and a couple of picky eaters in our group and we all found plenty to love there! Dh and I can only stomach so much red sauce so I doubt we will ever try MM. Depends on your taste. H&V has pasta, seafood, plain old home cookin', breads. salads, desserts, veggies, you name it...and everything is well labeled.
