Hi, will be staying in a Disney Villa for 12 nights, looking for some good places to eat outside of the parks and outside of Disney resorts… I saw the Orlando breakfast post and would love some suggestions for dinner.. I will have a car….Thank you!!

On International Drive a bit north of Sea World is an area called Point Plaza ... a sort of entertainment / restaurant area with its own parking garage

among others you'll find some places we've enjoyed
Capital Grill
Maggiano's Little Italy (always good and huge portions)
Cuba Libre (we had an excellent 'dinner for two' where you got a big platter with a bit of everything)
ENTREES FOR TWO
With white rice and black beans
PLATO GAUCHO MIXED GRILL*
Meyer all-natural Black Angus grass fed skirt steak, Maine lobster tail, jumbo shrimp, free range grilled half chicken, and Cortez chorizo sausage, parsley chimichurri sauce
<there is entertainment but in the Cuban style it starts late>

I have always enjoyed Tu Tu Tengos on International Drive. They have recently taken their cajun chicken egg rolls off the menu. But sometimes if you ask, they will still make them for you. They were the best! Not like chinese egg rolls at all.

We enjoy a couple of places in Celebration - Celebration Town Tavern and Columbia Restaurant. For a very casual, family oriented sports bar burger and wings kind of place, we like Miller's Ale House (we've eaten at several in the Orlando area, and there are two very close to WDW) as well as Ford's Garage. And Q'Kenan in the Publix shopping center at International Drive and Vineland Ave. for Venezuelan/Latin American food.

I would suggest checking out the reviews in the Orlando Sentinel especially their Foodie Award winners as they are publicly voted for. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/food-restaurants/foodie-awards/
We often checked the reviews before a trip to find some new and interesting places. Worth the effort as the restaurant scene is very volatile in Orlando. Restaurants open and close quickly, and what was excellent two years ago has often become mediocre. Do check where the restaurant you are interested in is located as some can be a long drive from the resort area, but they review many in the Dr Phillips restaurant strip too (very close to Disney/Universal) and further outlying areas.
I did note that many of the formerly free articles are now paywalled, but the current deal of 6 months for $1 is pretty good if you plan to go within that timeframe. Just put a reminder on your calendar to cancel before it goes to full freight.

Linda's La Cantina is a favorite for steaks: http://www.lindaslacantina.com/

Since you have a car, I would recommend going down to Kissimmee. Broadway Pizza and The Italian Joint are both very good and cheaper than most places in Orlando.

Sushi Katana was excellent. - 4192 Conroy Rd. Suite 103. Orlando, FL

We also went to NYPD Pizza - 9900 Universal Blvd Orlando, FL 32819 - pizzas were big and really good value.

We like Giordanos on 192 for Chicago deep dish, and Tropico Mofongo on 535 for Puerto Rican/Latin food.

My top choice would be Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, a local chain of teppanyaki restaurants.

The menus for this year's Magical dining month on Orlandoinfo would be a good place to start looking.
Our favorites outside any parks are La Boheme, Coq au Vin and Charley's Steak House. You could eat for a year in Orlando and not have a bad meal.

Honestly too many choices to list, but in our opinion, eating offsite never really saved us much. It was nice to try different places though.
