It is unusual to review an off site resort's restaurant. However I thought the review may be handy for those considering buying a $25 restaurant.com certificate for The Outback Restaurant (TOR).
I think restaurant.com now calls it The Original Outback Restaurant.

First -- VERY good. Definitely on par with Artist Point.
The theme of the restaurant is Australia, and reminds me of Boma's somewhat. (Of course different since they are representing different parts of the globe.)
Actually, the theme and decor is better than and more upscale than Boma's. Very nicely done, and not a bad table in the place from what we saw.

2 adults -- using the r.com $25 certificate.

Parking is free. However valet parking is an option, and is right at the restaurant entrance. (To the right once guests enter is a loud sports bar. To the left is the entry into TOR.)

TOR opens at 5:30, and we just happened to be there just before opening.
Walk ups. And for a bit we were the only guests in the restaurant. (It did pick up by the time we left. Although it was still pretty empty.)

We just had ice teas to drink.

I admit I would have ordered an appy (crab cakes) and a few sides. However the certificate states two entrees have to be ordered.

Menu:

I ordered the Kurobuta Pork Chop, with grilled pineapple, and mango-chili butter.

DH ordered the Four Course prix fix meal:

French Onion Soup; Caesar Salad; Prime Rib (or can have Grilled Salmon) with garlic mash and grilled vegetables and Strawberry Cheese Cake. (He did substitute the cheesecake for a piece of Key Lime pie.)

Once we ordered, we were brought two large fresh (and warm) rolls and butter. Very nice touch -- The butter was molded to a crocodile. :thumbsup2 (A case where they out-Disney'd Disney.)

DH got his onion soup. He said it was very good. Sure smelled good. (Although he thought it was not quite as good as the French Onion soup at Chefs de France.) But still, nothing to complain about.

Then he got his salad. I ate some of it. I only really wanted a few bites. But ate more because it was so darn good. The grated Parmesan cheese was fresh and really good. And the dressing was really good and not overdone. :thumbsup2
mmmmm

Off to a GOOD start!

Our entrees came and they lived up to the rest of the meal.

DH's eyes popped out when he saw my porkchop. It was a great (Iowa style) chop. The chop was on top of four slices of grilled pineapple. And that butter on the side -- pure heaven. Tasted like sweet creme fresh. :worship: And next to no fat on the chop.

DH immediately fell in love with his prime rib because sitting on top was a clove of roasted garlic. :yay:
He said it was not the best prime rib he has ever had. But it was pretty good, and the garlic really made it. He said it was a nice change from the usual horseradish that usually comes with prime rib.

Then he was able to switch out his cheesecake option for Key Lime. He just isn't much of a cheesecake person.
He liked the Key Lime pie. But again, not the best he has ever had. But far from being the worse.
I took a little bite, but can take Key Lime or leave it. It tasted fine -- for Key Lime. ;)

The serving sizes were good.

Some at the table next to us ordered a burger. I did not see it. But DH said it was huge. The guy took half of it with him. (But the burger was $18. (From the menu: A HUGE Knife & Fork Angus Burger, tomato, grilled onions, ciabatta crouton, shoestring fries.)

Another table had kids and one was eating french fries and remarking to his family how good they were.

I just cannot imagine anything being bad at this restaurant.

DH had a few bites of my chop, as he always raved about the Berkshire porkchop they HAD at Artist Point. (No longer on the menu there.)
He said the porkchop tonight was even better than what he ate at AP.

So I can definitely see us returning some day -- with a restaurant.com certificate.

Also want to mention the tip is automatically included on r.com certificates. And the automatic tip was 20%. (Usually it is 18%.)
No gripes on our part though because the service was very good. Someone was always there clearing plates or whatever. Service was not lacking in any way.

Our bill was roughly $60, with tax, tip, and the $25 off.

Definitely worth a try. And the location is right across the side street from Downtown Disney. Nice looking resort too.

Editing to add in addition to my entree, I also ordered a side dish of sauteed asparagus. :) Which of course was good. :)

Thank you for sharing; it sounds great. It sounds like a delicious, convenient and economical alternative to Disney dining. I'm making a note of this restaurant for our next trip :D

I love Outback restaurants. Have had good meals at every one I've been too. We don't plan on renting a car on our next Disney trip so is this walking distance from DTD?
