How's Dinner at Cape May? I see they do a Clam Bake ... would you suggest it?

Thanks!

We always eat at Cape May at least once during our stay at Beach Club. We like it....I especially enjoy the dessert selections! It usually isn't too congested. There are no characters there at dinner, just at the breakfast, which, by the way, we also like! Have fun.

We ate there last summer even though the reviews haven't been great. We loved it and are going back this month. Don't expect fabulous seafood, but it is a nice environment and good food.

We ate there on May 19th and really enjoyed it. They had various steamed clams and mussels along with many, many other things outside of the seafood realm. DH doesn't like seafood and he was able to fill himself to bursting. I think we'll most likely be doing this next trip as well.

I wrote it up in a dining review if you're interested.

I got a reservation for our last night!! YIPPEE!! :cool1:

I do have a question. As I understand it, you can walk to the restaurant from Epcot, is that right? Have you done it? How long does it take?

It is very close to the rear exit of Epcot. About a 10 minute walk, give or take a few minutes depending on your pace. I love this restaurant. The first time I ate there, I got a plate of crab legs for an additional $10.00. They gave me 3 whole bunches of snow crab legs. They were AMAZING. The soups are good, meats are fresh and juicy. I don't even necessarily like clams all that much (unless they are baked, with bread crumbs and all that fun stuff ;) ) but DBF and I find ourselves here on almost every trip. A huge "Bang for your buck." The only downfall is that we always leave so full!!! Give Cape May a try, you won't be disappointed. And have a great trip:wizard:

Thank you Tinkerbelll! I am really looking forward to it! :goodvibes I hope it is a nice night and we can walk on the beach a little. That would be really a great ending to our vacation!

It's a reasonably good buffet, with perhaps the best desserts of any buffet at WDW. But don't expect an authentic "clambake" or gourmet seafood! It really IS a buffet! The "clambake" is the theme but the food doesn't live up to it -- surely no surprise, as buffet seafood and corn-on-the-cob can't possibly equal the fresh versions. But is it worth going? I think so. I would rank the WDW buffets as
Boma
Crystal Palace, Cape May (tie)
1900 Park Fare (haven't eaten there)
Hollywood & Vine
Biergarten
Chef Mickey's (haven't eaten there)

Cape May is not really a seafood buffet. It is a buffet that features some seafood choices. Clams, mussels, shrimp, and fish are the selections. There are four sides to the buffet with the desserts now being separate. There is a children's "corner."

It is a good value and nice place for a party with a wide variety of personal tastes. At holiday time they add special dishes that correspond with the given holiday.

Not a true clambake, to be sure, but a good solid buffet that is always very well maintained.

Really good food. We always try to go there once on our trip. I would say they make the best ribs I have ever had at WDW.:thumbsup2

Well, if this is true, then it is a shame that this option is no longer available. Those crab legs were outstanding. But the rest of the food was fantastic as well!!!
