Dinner at Boma while at AK, feasible?

So we have the free meal plan this summer and I'm trying to figure out a good place to eat dinner while we are at Animal Kingdom. I ruled out Tiffins since it is 2 credits. Has anyone ever taken the bus over to AKL to eat at Boma? It sounds better than the options at AK. I am just concerned that it might burn up too much time. We usually make AK our short day park and go in morning and early afternoon but with addition of Pandora, we want to go in the evening.

If you plan on heading back to AK after Boma, I suggest just getting an ADR at Y&Y or TH. It is a long walk just to get from Discovery Island to the buses and from the buses back to Discovery Island. Every time we have planned to leave AK or even eat at RFC in the front, we have always decided to just leave after instead of doing that walk again. If you don't want or can't get Y&Y or TH, you could always do CS that day and save your TS credit for another day. There are some good CS and snack options that you may not need to use a TS credit that day.

Kind of a tangent...

But if you choose Yak & Yeti, there’s basically no such thing as “not available”. Sign up for a Landry’s membership card for $25. You’ll get a $25 credit back for your meal at Y&Y. And you’ll jump ahead of everyone with Disney ADRs when you show up and present your card. No reservation needed.

You’ll also get $25 at Landry’s restaurants every year during your birthday month.

We've gone from AK to go eat at Sanaa and it was a very easy and fast trip but we were just going back to our own resort after. As others have said, I'd try my best to eat in-park if you were planning on coming right back to the park after anyways. Yak & Yeti is fantastic.

Depends on what you consider to be burning up too much time. We often do this (although we usually eat at Jiko). We'll spend the day at AK, go to AKL for dinner and then maybe go back to AK or go back to the hotel depending on how late we eat. The buses only stop at Jambo and Kidani - no other resorts and AK is the closest park to AKL. It's definitely more convenient to eat IN AK so if you are concerned about time, then I wouldn't plan on AK to AKL to AK by bus. It will take you at least 15 minutes between the two depending on when the bus comes. If you miss the bus, you will wait at least 20 minutes so it could take you 30-40 minutes between the two. We don't consider this to be burning up too much time as we like to use the bus to rest our feet.

are you planning to stay till the park closes?
The bus ride is only about 5-10 minutes at most. But you will spend a lot of time walking out ot the park, waiting for the bus. The same thing coming back and going back through security.
Depends if ou want to burn that much time.
Another option is to put the ADR late, after you're done with the parks. Your only issue then is getting back to your resort.
Boma is very good, not sure I would leave the park to eat there and return.
As mentioned above, I would consider Yak & Yeti.

It’s really really hot in the summer. I’m w the folks once I walk all the way to the buses, then fill my face at a buffet, the likelihood oh me wanting to waddle my full belly all the way back? Not gonna happen. I mean, it doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is

If you were doing Boma then back to resort? I’m totally onboard. If you can handle extra miles in the heat w full belly, go for it. I’ll be back in my room saying why did I eat so much? All at the same time wishing i had some extra zebra domes

Thanks for your input everybody. I will most likely eat at AK or do QS meal that day. I am using a double credit at California Grill so I need to figure what day to skip TS meal.

Satu’li Canteen is CS at AK and is AMAZING!

Edited to correct. It is COUNTER service but is excellent! Better than some TS in my opinion!

I think that if I had to skip a TS meal on any day and replace it with CS< I would choose DAK for that day. My family loves Flame Tree. You can actually stretch your CS credits there because the portions are very generous and easy to split. We use a snack credit for a Mickey cinnamon bun in the morning and then lunch at Flame Tree.

I would not leave the park for a meal unless I was not plannign to return. DAK in Summer is surface of the sun hot, so if I make that trek to the bus I am done. Frankly, I cannot last all day in DAK on a good day because I get claustrophobic by mid afternoon, and in Summer that tends to feel even worse for me. I usually have to break that park up into two days.

We would most likely be returning. We have never been to AK at night. We probably will do DIsney Springs in the late morning and early afternoon and then go to AK. In a the past we would go to AK in the first half of the day and DS in the evening.

Tusker House with RoL package is just one credit and a great value for a TS. Menu is kind of similar to Boma plus seating for the show plus characters. No downsides really!

I have not been to AK since The World of Avatar opened. This place looks amazing.
