dinneer and the NSSHP

Hi,
We just made our 10/09 ressies. We want to do dinner at MK the day we take our girls (twins who will be just 7 in Oct. and a 4.5 y.o.) to the NSSHP. We have never done this and have no idea how this works.
My questions are:
1. What would be the best sit-down restaurant for dinner or is it strategically better to do something more like Pecos?
2. How does the trick-or-treating work?
3. any other related NSSHP tips are welcome.
Please know our children have no food allergies that we know about.

Once the party tix go on sale special MNSSHP dining times will be availble for booking at MK restaurants.Most popular last year was LTT, but that was only because the characters were in Halloween costumes( there are no characters there anymore making this a iffy choice).If you really have your heart on a TS meal in the MK, my suggestion is to book a meal for 415p-430p to be done before the party begins( party guests may enter the Mk with their party tix at 4p).Crystal Palace is a good choice.We personally felt that TS dining wasted too much valuble party time.So we ate Cs then entered the party at 4pm and rode rides till the festivities started.If trick or treating interests your children hit the more popular trails very early.The lines later in the evening were so long we skipped it(this was on a tuesday in Sept).I also suggest if you are interested in pics of your family at the HM hears or Cindys Carriage do them early.Lines for this were over 45 mins long later in the evening.We did the earlier parade and got spots 40 mins before the parade in frontierland, and defended out spots since people felt that they could walk up last minute and push in front of us.
