Are there restaurants within walking distance to the resort area that are less expensive than Disney area dining? Fast food, etc.
Thanks,
Angela

along Harbour Blvd you will find
Mimi's Cafe
Millies
McDonalds
Cold Stone Cremery
Tony Romas
and someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think there is also a Ihop (but I have heard VERY expensive) and one of the hotels has Pizza Hut (at least express)

Pizza Hut express is in the Fairfield Inn.
I hear the McDonalds on Harbor doesn't have the $1 value meal.
There is the Gardenwalk but I'm just guessing that the restaurant's prices much resemble Downtown Disney. If I'm not mistaken there is a Del Taco around there somewhere but may be out of walking distance...

I have not experienced it myself, but I have been warned to stay away from captain kidds buffet.

Mimi's Cafe is definitely a great place to go...I believe most of their dishes are under $10 and the portions are huge (two people can definitely share them). You can also join Mimi's E-Club: http://www.mimiscafe.com/EClub.aspx and get a free breakfast entree.

The Pizza Hut Express located in FFI is okay too. Definitely not as cheap as some other locations but their pizza was good.

It is also true that the McDonald's on Harbor does not have the $1 menu but you can get a coupon here for a buy 1 get 1 free Big Mac or McMuffin Sandwich: http://www.getawaytoday.com/Maps.aspx (under the Anaheim coupons, page 3). There is also a coupon for a buy 1 get 1 free 6-inch sub at Subway, also located on Harbor. Actually, there might be a bunch of coupons there that you may find helpful.

White Water Snacks (located inside the Grand Californian Hotel) also has delicious and cheap eats as well and is definitely worth checking out.

We really liked Millie's, and pretty much liked Mimi's. We also liked Coco's, if you're over on Katella Ave.

IHOP might taste good (not sure), but it's reported to be one of the most expensive IHOPs anywhere.

There's also a Dennys somewhere around there.

There is a Taco Bell across the street from the Menage. It's next to a gas station. If you are on that side of Harbor it's worth a visit. DD & I ate there while I gassed up last year (my car that is, not my body!). Surprised that the food was good, fresh and cheap. It was my only Taco Bell visit in the last ten years but worth it!

as reported AVOID the IHOP on Harbor... For a family of 4 we paid well over $100 for breakfast... it was regular breakfast fare for way too much money.....Here in WA state we can eat at IHOP for around $35 for our family of 4, so that was a huge markup....as others have said MIMI'S near the HoJo's is well priced and huge portions. Keep in mind at the park there are quite of few places where portions are large enough to split, cutting the costs there also. The McDonalds across from DL is a bit higher than other McD's so keep that in mind also. There is a Del Taco down Harbor a bit, by car 5 mins. or so, cheap and good, my fav. The Denny's is near the crosswalk and they were your average Denny's only a tad bit higher than the norm.,The food was quick and tasty there!! If you have a car there are several choices within mins. of the resort.

There are quite a few restaurants at Anaheim Garden Walk. We walked there for lunch one day from Grand Californian and it wasn't far.

We ate at PF Changs (SO GOOD)
but there is a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Johnny Rockets, Cheescake Factory, a Pizza Restaurnat (California Pizza Kitchen???) and a few others.

Last time I was at McDs across the street (sept 09), they did have the dollar menu up. It was hidden on the right hand side, and limited. They had small french fries, perhaps apple pie, and a McChicken sandwich and a side salad available for $1 each.

I love Mimi's - but beware when its busy, service isn't the best. I like breakfast better there. Dinner is usually packed, especially during high seasons (summer, holidays, etc).

I think there is also a Quizno's by Carousel Inn.

I'm so glad someone else is reporting the same thing that happened to us!!! We went on a Kids Eat Free deal and we still spent $50 on 2 meals for DBF and myself! :scared1: Every time I post that someone pops in and basically says I'm exagerating, having you post makes me feel better. LOL Not that we wasted that much $$ at IHOP but that someone else can back me up.

OP avoid IHOP & Captain Kidd's, IHOP is way overpriced and CK's is just gross. I don't care how cheap it is, it's not edible. Mimi's is excellent, huge portions at great prices, Millie's is good, large portions at great prices. The Denny's is also great, the prices there are the same as any Denny's I've eaten at, the service is fast and pleasant. At the Gardenwalk you have a variety of places to chose from (google Gardenwalk Anaheim for more info) and the prices are standard for those restaurants. We went to the Cheesecake Factory, we spent less then we would have at DL/DCA. Also farther down Harbor you've got a Bucca Di Beppo, Joe's Crab Shack, Red Robin, Outback and a few more places to eat, all priced normally. For us it is cheaper to eat off site because my 13 & 10 y.o.'s are NOT going to be able to eat an adult meal, yet Disney considers them adults, if we eat offsite we have no problems ordering them both meals off the kids' menus. Don't forget DTD either, you've got the Jazz Kitchen & RFC, both are very very good!! You've got ESPN Zone which did not impress us at all, you've got Tortilla Joe's, Catal, La Brea Bakery, Naples, lots to chose from really.

I love ESPN Zone. I feel that the prices are a tad steep for sport bar food... and I have eaten a lot of sports bar food, but I feel that they make up for it in quality. It is not unreasonably priced for table service in the DLR, but still more expensive than it would be if it were at another location.

My friend from the UK really liked it too, but that may have been because they had his football (soccer) game on and they had Stella for him to drink while watching the game. :rotfl:

Oh good -I thought it was just me thinking the IHOP was way out of line!
I also remember Denny's being a bit pricey - we went on the kids eat free time, yet somehow my bill was still $22 for my daughter (who was 9 at the time) and myself. I believe a burger and fries was about 11.99 and thinking 'shoulda stayed in DL to eat'. lol

Pixie not only was it WAY over priced the service was terrible!!!

I know!!! IHOP would be a good deal if Mickey and Minnie came by the table so I could tale pictures with them!!!

Yeah, Captain Kidds is actually a chain (well, at least it has more than one location), and if the one near DL is anything like the one I've eaten at in Florida, BLECCCCH. It's perfect if you're looking for unrecognizable deep-fried items, but since I don't know many people that are, I'd say stay away lol!

so im in love with food (which also means tha i am in love with the gym) i food all of the restaurants above as well as captain crab if you are interested in buckets of crabs...there is also a benihana...which is not really in walking distance
