Dining with non-DDPers

If we get the dining plan, is it okay if we make reservations with people not on the DDP? We have friends going the same time as we are but staying off-site and we want to plan some meals with them. Is that OK? Do we just tell the server up front and they split our checks up?

Our Server at the Turf club took care of all of this.. we explained to him that 2 of us were on the Dining plan. He then took care of everything. There were 4 adults in our group, and we all ordered different items, we shared our 2 appetizers. When the bill came, the server had put the 2 more "expensive" entrees onto our dining plan and needless to say, he got a larger tip from the non dining plan diners. It was all handled very nicely and was no big deal at all.

We were able to split our check when we dined at Akershus with my sister and her kids. Just be aware that 18% tip will already be added to the check for those not on the plan. We also had to pay cash for one TS meal for my son who at 2 is not on the plan yet. The 18% was already added to his meal as well.

good to know about the tip being added on ... we are doing exactly this in August, so I'll be sure to tell my friends who are not on DDP this info.

They will also automatically charge the 18% tip on any additional beverages ordered at the same meal (alcohol, pressed pot coffee, etc.).
