We are staying on points for the first time in 2 weeks,
We have park ticks already so they wont be linked to our room card,

my question is , we have the disney deluxe dining reserved for the adults,
my son is 2.5 so is still free BUT could we buy him the kids meal plan anyway?

I didnt know if they would let me or if i would have to say he was 3

anyone else do this? my son is a BIG eater!! it think it would save us money!

No, they will not sell you DDP if you tell them your child is <3 years.

deluxe dining plan = 3 TS a day pp, that is a lot of food!

not sure if u booked ADRs for 3 meals a day, or did signature ones to equal 2 a day, but it'd be easy enough to stretch 3 TS credits among 3 people in your party to eat 2 TS meals a day with just a few OOP expenses.

Disney doesn't care who uses the dining credits you've purchased as long as it's within your group

we skip breakfast entirely, or do grab something light (im partial to the kid's mickey waffles for $5 or so lol), then an early lunch, followed by dinner & we never go hungry.

fyi, kids meals are reasonably priced yet i find the variety ho-hum, many times an appetizer will do the trick vs a full meal.

honestly, i look at not having to buy the DP for a kid as a bonus;)

WE opted for this plan this time b/c we like to eat dinner at the signature restaurants and they take 2 meal tickets! WE also have quite a few character breakfasts book b/c my son is at the age where all he wants is that.

U can use a credit for QS for lunch also, which is what we plan to do

We have done the regular meal plan since its conception and we think this one will work better for us this time!
Wont know until after if it was worth it, but for us its worth a try!

It worked well for DS and me in June - we had mostly buffet breakfasts and signature meal dinners, and that was plenty of food for us, supplemented with the occasional light snack midday. the regular DDP doesn't work for us because we don't really eat QS meals and we'd pretty quickly blow through the credits on 2TS meals, so the pre-pay aspect wasn't there, either. We're doing DxDP again next week when it's me, DH, DS and MIL so I'm hoping it works equally well. It's probably our last time doing a DP for a while since our next trip isn't a good fit for DP and after that DS will be an adult and it won't be worth it at all anymore.

You're actually better off without the dining plan for a two year old. Kid's meals are between $4.50 and $8.50 (for fancy places.) Kid's under 3 are free at buffets. They even gave us a couple choices for a complimentary meal at CRT for our 1 yr old. Rather than paying the $21 or whatever it is now per day for DxDDP. You get off cheaper just paying out of pocket for the kid's meals your child does want. It gives you more options too! :goodvibes
