Hi, I too am a diabetic, and a 16 year cancer survivor! Last year we went to Disney right after my diabetes diagnosis and I was a nervous wreck. The disABILITIES board helped me a lot. I learned about how to cope with the heat, what to pack for quick snacks(salted nut rolls were the best in the heat), and how to work with the chefs at the restaurants. I asked the wait-staff about carbs at every meal and the only ones who couldn't help me were at Coral Reef - they brought out the chef and even he gave me a blank stare until I explained that I needed to count my carbs for diabetes, not a fad diet. Everyone was great and I kept my blood sugar in check the whole trip. You can do it! I can give you more info if you'd like it. Just ask away! Living with diabetes seems overwhelming at first, but it gets easier.
