Dining which to avoid

Naples in DTD

Pizza Port (pizza only, love their pasta)

Those are really the only two places I would avoid (and when I say I, I mean me and my family).

As others have said- everyone has their own opinion/experience but i do see a theme here on a few and I'll add my vote-
The only place in DLR that I will not eat/ avoid at all costs is Tomorrowland Terrace. I've had great and not so great at many other places but Tomorrowland Terrace has been reliably awful. And whenever we walk by the food I see on tables doesn't look like its improved.

I have heard to avoid coffee

This is funny because just last night my dh was telling me that he thought every cup of coffee at Disneyland was better than the one before LOL... He really liked the (pre-Starbucks) coffee.

I do enjoy the Villiage Haus...I usually have the bagel dog and it is good.

But I absolutely agree with the Tomorrowland Terrance reviews. Worst meal we had over two separate Disney trips.

We ate at the Lucky Fortune Cookery last trip (June 2012) and I would not eat there again. The food tasted like a frozen, Lean Cuisine-type of Chinese food entree. The wait was long even though the line was fairly short. The food just left a bad taste in my mouth.

However, the portions were pretty big, so if one needs a lot of food and doesn't mind mediocre quality, it may be a good place to go. :rotfl:

I tend to agree with the concept of avoiding burgers and pizza at the DLR, they taste like school cafeteria food and for those prices, I want some QUALITY. :(

Luckily, there are lots of yummy choices, more good stuff than bad stuff to be found.

i know I am going to be one of the few here LOL:rotfl2:, but the whips!. Just to much pineapple:confused3
Too much pineaple??? Can there be such a thing??? ;) The pineapple whips are my favorite thing anywhere in DLR. :goodvibes

Yep, good thing there is enough food venues for everyone to find something they like!::yes::

Well, most of the food at DLR is nothing better than ok IMO! I've had great things that other days were not so great and vice versa so it's also difficult to give an absolute on any one place.

I do have to agree that Bengal BBQ is not a good value. I used to love it, but now it tastes like microwaved fakey stuff to me and if you buy a couple of skewers plus a drink you've spent close to $15 (and I'm still hungry!). There's also no good place to sit.

I've only had one good experience at Cafe Orleans. The food was fine but the service was absolutely awful in 4 tries out of 5. As a family of 5 we waited FOREVER for every single aspect of the meal. The one time I didn't have that experience, it was just my sister and me and all we ordered were fries so the size of your party and the amount of food likely figure into the wait time.

I'm not a fan of the French Market overall, though they have a few things that are ok. I'm generally not big on cafeteria selections but I do like Rancho del Zocalo ok.

I don't care for Goofy's at all, though my son loves it, or any of the dining places in PPH.

I don't like Whitewater Snacks.

I avoid DLR hamburgers, as others have mentioned!

And much as I WANT to like it, I just don't think the sundaes at the ice cream place on Main St are very good, certainly not for the price.

As a side note, I love La Brea, especially the sit-down part. They serve Starbuck's coffee, btw. They have an excellent lox and bagel and their sandwiches are hugely superior to Bengal BBQ for about the same price, plus you get table service.

TLT worst food in the park hands-down.

Pacific Wharf has ok food, but outside dining is terrible. Even the covered tables are dangerous--watch out for bird excretions! We've seen many a people knowingly and unknowingly hit by bird stuff.

Avoid pizza at the Red Rocket's. Pasta is good there...

Many people rave about the turkey legs, but I say skip them. Too salty and dry.

I forgot to add that the hot chocolate is thin and watery. We had this at the Riverbelle Terrace. I treasure the plastic keepsake mug however, and use it everyday at work. I would choose the hot chocolate over the coffee anyday.

I went to Bengal BBQ our last trip. The asparagus skewer was good and the chicken skewer was okay. The tiger tail bread was just a dry dry bun that had been marked on the grill. I guess I was expecting more after all the good reviews. It was a pricey mediocre small meal.

My friend who was just there in June raved about the veggie and meat skewers at the Bengal BBQ! She is going with us in March and wants to eat there again for sure. That and Cafe' Orleans. I love the Asian chicken salad in the bread bowls in DCA . . . and the Dole whips, of course! Those are my must-haves. :thumbsup2

OK, so where DO we want to eat??

We really liked the chili cone quesso at Carsland! We all enjoy the corn dogs from the Corn Dog Castle. We also liked the soup in the bread bowl at the Harbourfront??? place across from HM. We had a fabulous lunch at BB, we knew we were paying for the ambiance, so we're pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed our lunch. definitely worth doing once. We will go again next trip.

We ate at the BT BBQ on our first trip. It was good, however, we are not "all you can eat" people so it was not as good a value as if you have a family of big eaters and are making this a main meal of the day.

My favorite dessert/treat was a dole whip with a Matterhorn macaroon on the side... Okay dipped in. Sooo good!!!

TLT for breakfast is good (my burrito is made for me since I get it with no chorizo so that might make a difference) but later in the day? No thank you.
I really dislike Lucky Fortune. The rice was undercooked and the sauce too sweet. :/
Pizza Port is too greasy for me.

We loved WCT, had the scampi and the Chardonney, DH had seafood salad misto. Kids had 2 orders of pasta! Can't go wrong with Plaza Inn.

Did tlt and pizza port get worse over the past few years or am I taste bud deprived??
I didn't find them that bad like five yrs ago
Also loved the pot roast at plaza in dl

We liked the Cozy Cone, Flo's, Earl of Sandwich (DTD), and House of Blues (DTD), although HoB gets mixed reviews from what I've seen. I also liked a Greek-ish meal I had at a place tucked back on Paradise Pier, meat on a skewer with tzatziki sauce (totally had to look up how to spell that word!) and a few other things on the plate - kind of like a deconstructed gyro.

I agree with Tomorrowland Terrace and the pizza at Redd Rockets. I really wanted to like the pizza, too.
The food at Cafe Orleans is nice but the service, for us, has not been ideal. Considering it's a sit-down restaurant, service does play a part for us. The food is great though, imo.
I also agree I was underwhelmed with the tiger tails/bread at Bengal Cafe. They were dry. The skewers were really good though.
We all aren't big fans of the new(ish) Blue Bayou menu, and while, in the past, I've really enjoyed the potatoes, the last time they were there they tasted a bit old. That said, I would still go because I, personally, value the ambiance, and we don't go to Disneyland more than once a year.
