Just got back last night from our 9 day stay at WDW. This was our first time staying at the Yacht Club. While I thought the resort was lovely, I wouldn't opt to stay there again as I much prefer the monorail resorts simply for their convenience. That said, with the exception of 2 or 3 outings this vacation, the transportation was readily available with minimal wait times.

We had deluxe dining on this trip:
1st day -
Lunch - Beaches and Cream - cute theme, but didn't live up to the hype. I ordered a turkey sandwich for lunch and was surprised that it was cold-cut type turkey and not roasted turkey. The shakes were very filling. I did order a small version of the No Way Jose but was way too full to make a dent in it. Many diners around us ordered the Kitchen Sink which did not look the least bit appetizing to me. (This review feels strange to write as it is critical over an ice cream parlor and I love ice cream.) My DH thought the caesar salads were great. He also had the frozen sunshine drink and loved that.

Dinner - Cape May Cafe - still too full from lunch to do any justice to this buffet. What I had tasted very good, but didn't eat all that much. Not that I really wanted any, but the dessert options seemed lacking here. The NE Clam Chowder was very good.

2nd Day
Lunch - Sci Fi - very pleasantly surprised. This place gets slammed by bad reviews on this board and I thought it was pretty great. Our waitress was fantastic. I had the sliced steak and bleu cheese salad with the oreo shake. Yum! My DH had the reuben and said that was really good too. My kids liked what they had. I had the PB cake for dessert which was good too. My DH liked the hot fudge sundae he had for dessert. It was also a great place to cool off and unqwind on a very hot day.

Dinner - Flying Fish - great service. I liked what I had (scallops); DH not so much (red snapper) but he is not a seafood fan so I wasn't expecting much. We probably would not go to again because we didn't it was worth 2 credits.

3rd Day
Breakfast - Captain's Grille - We were supposed to eat at Chef Mickey this day, but found out the transportation wouldn't be running in time for our early reservation so we changed the reservation to CG instead. We had the buffet. It had a good selection of breakfast entries. Since it was at our hotel, it was very convenient which made it even better!

Dinner - Mickey's Backyard BBQ - This was my son's dinner pick. Getting there from the Yacht Club was a pain to say the least. We had been there before so I knew what to expect in terms of the food and entertainment. My son and daughter had a ball dancing. I wouldn't elect to return but I am sure my kids would disagree so I am sure we'll be back on another trip someday.

4th Day
Breakfast - Cape May - good buffet, good character interaction. Very convenient to our hotel. However, if I weren't staying at one of the Epcot resorts, I am not sure I'd make the trip.

Dinner - Yachtsman - one of our favorites every year! I loved the onion pull apart rolls and our steaks were delicious. Our waitress was terrific too. My son loves orange soda and while they don't have it at Yachtsman, she somehow managed to get him one from one of the nearby restaurants. Now, that's some Disney magic!

5th Day
Lunch - Rose and Crown - sweet waitress, not great service. Somehow our lunch must have been served to another table as it took forever. We had to say something because all the tables seated well after us were served prior to us. The waitress was apologetic, but even after she was aware of the problem, it still took a long time to rectify the situation. If the food had been outstanding, I could have overlooked the service delay. Unfortunately, it was only OK. We won't return.

Dinner - Hoop Dee Doo - This was my daughter's pick. Like Mickey's BBQ, this was a pain to get to. We had seats all the way in the back - like right next to the exit door. I (very politely) said something to the manager and he managed to get us a much better table. We ended up being about 3 tables away from the stage. My DH absolutely loved the corn bread served. The chicken was good too.

6th Day
Breakfast - Tusker House - always one of my favorites. Everything here is good and I love all the different dessert offerings. The character interaction was good too.

Dinner - Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package - kind of a disaster. It was raining really heavily at the time of our reservation. I guess the people eating lunch decided to wait out the storm at their tables causing the restaurant to become very backed up. I think we waited over an hour for our reservation. Many of the people waiting were not all that kind to the staff. I was impressed with how the staff responded to the rude customers and made sure I told both managers on duty about the excellent job the host staff was doing. As for the food -- my DD is 9 and hates ordering off the kids menu. She asked to get something off the adult menu that we could share. She picked something I knew I wouldn't like but I ordered it to please her. I didn't care for it at all because the sauce was way too heavy. It was made as described so I can't fault MM for me not liking it. My DH didn't see anything he liked on the menu so asked if they could just bring a plate of spaghetti with meat sauce and a sausage. They did so without a problem and he said it was really good.

7th Day
Breakfast - Captain's Grill - 2nd breakfast here. No complaints.

Lunch - Coral Reef - we've been here before. My DH was so looking forward to the blackened catfish that he had on previous visits. Unfortunately it was no longer on the menu. I had the salmon which was pretty good. DH had the mahi mahi which was very good. They changed the wave dessert option. It is smaller but is served with raspberry sorbet. I love the wave so I liked getting the bigger portion better.

Dinner - Tutto Italia - I was so full that I was looking for something light on the menu. No real choices like that so I opted for the penne with mozzarella cheese. It was good. My DH had the lasagna and loved it. The kids both had pizzas, which were huge. My DH thought the cannoli was terrific. I took mine to go and he had it later on.

8th Day -
Breakfast - Crystal Palace - another one of our favorites and a must do every trip. Buffet was delicious as usual (loved that puffed French toast!). Character interaction was great.

Dinner - Citricos - a new one for us this trip. It was fabulous! I had the grouper and my DH had the beef. We ended up sharing the meals and we thought both were excellent. I had the trio of gelato for dessert which was great and my DH had the lemon cheesecake which he really liked as well. The kids had the crispy fried shrimp and said it was good.

9th Day
Breakfast - Kouzzina - new one for us. We didn't end up liking it all that much. We didn't find it to be anything special. My DH and I had the ham and cheese omelettes. The kids had the French toast which was pretty tasty.

Lunch - Les Chefs de France - our first time here. We were pleasantly surprised. I would have loved to order the French onion soup but was too hot from the 90+ degrees to do so. DH and I both had the salads. Dh had the hamburger for lunch, I had the roasted chicken. Both were good. My DD had the pasta with chicken fingers and my son had the fish. For dessert, I had the crepe which was tasty and my DH ordered the chocolate cake because that's what my DD wanted. The cake was yummy.

All in all, a delicious vacation. The biggest hits were Yachtsman and Ctricos. The only misses (for us) were Rose and Crown and Kouzzina.

Great DR. Very well written and concise. We are using QSDP again this year so no TS but I enjoyed your thoughts and comments.
