Dining tips for a 5 year old: Main seating

My DD was 5 on our first cruise with Disney (though we've been cruising since she's been 2, so she's an experienced cruiser). She wore Princess dresses to dinner and though she's better now, she was a picky eater, so she ordered mac n cheese every night in the restaurants. We had first seating, so I thought dinner went by pretty quickly, so time wise, it was fine. I don't allow ipads at dinner, but we sat with a nice mom/son so we had good conversation and it went by quickly. She loved the ambiance of the restaurants, as she's very girl and felt very special in her full princess gear.

Ohhh, she is so adorable! :)

My daughter Is 14 and has a favorite item too. Our first few cruises, she would try new things and be happy with them. But the last few cruises, she sticks with her old standby (which is okay since she has actually tried things) She gets the steak and white rice every night. Unless there are lamb chops of course. :)

As for dining tips for the young one.... I think she will be just fine with the ambience, the servers and the coloring pages. Our servers engage all of us in magic tricks and brain teasers, which is a lot of fun even for my teens. Our favorite show is the AP guest art show. It usually happens the last evening we dine in that MDR on the Fantasy.

We have never had dinners last longer than an hour as we typically check out the menu before we arrive and get there on time and order right away.
My son (13) orders from the kids menu and his meal is always the first to arrive. When he orders regular meals, they come out with ours. So you could feasibly have enough time to dash her to the kids clubs on 5 and be back in time for YOUR dinner to arrive.

Something I did not see mentioned............if she doesn't see anything on the kid's menu she wants, she is more than welcome to order off the adult's menu. This works for adults ordering off the kid's menu also.
