Ok this is going to be long but here it goes. My sister and I are going in July and my twin sons will be 1 month shy if 3yrs old with a very, very hefty appetites. Could I book them as 3 and get the dining plan and save their tickets for next year. I am almost certain that I will more than likely spend more than $10 on snacks for them. With the extra credits we could also do breakfast. From reading the post it is my understanding that the tickets expire 14 days from first use. We are planning on staying on site for 4 nights.

Forgot to mention that my sister is one of those germ freaks and hates to share food.

You can't save the meals and I actually think that they expire on Midnight of the day you check out. You may want to see if you could just get one of them on the dining plan and then they could share the kids meal...

I think what the OP is asking is if she can save the park tickets she will need to buy to get the dining plan for her almost 3yo's until the following year.

If you pay for the no expiration option on the twins' park tickets I think you'll be able to save them. But what if you want the dining plan the following year as well? Do you even need to buy them tickets to get the dining plan? Or can you just buy them a one day park ticket and save it?

I would guess that Disney wouldn't argue against you paying for the dining plan even though your child technically isn't required to get it if you are (ie. under 3yo) and you probably won't even need to buy them park tickets. Have you tried calling them and asking?

The no expiration option wouldn't be needed if tickets aren't activated on this trip.

If you are staying in 1 room, then all the meals are pooled and you can put up the 2 childrens resort ID cards to be sure that you do not use the admission part of the ticket. Since the meals are pooled your sis or you can just use your cards to pay for the meals on the dining plan. To the poster re the tickets, for the dining plan everyone in the room must have the same # of days on the tickets, as liitle as 1 day. But they do not have to use them. :sunny:

I don't see why this wouldn't work for you and would follow the advice above about putting those resort ids somewhere for "safe keeping." I would also recommend as an alternative maybing foregoing that plan and just paying out of pocket for one child's meal and having them share if you think that would be enough food for the two of them...it would keep you from having to spend the extra money on the tickets right now, especially if you plan on doing the dining plan in the future.

Thanks, for your input.....

We will be going again next year with my family and will be staying off site and I have the money now for the tickets so i figured what the heck (pretty sure they will cost more next year too)!!! Should I just go for it and put the tickets up for next trip. We were planning on the non expiring anyways with water park option but no hopping. Was just thinking of hanging around MK and doing just water park on 1st and last day.

I think the tickets might need to be activated in order to access the dining plan credits and without the non-expiring will expire in 14 days. :confused3

I did the math on this and it just didn't add up. At the buffet's under 3's eat free. Most C/S meals for kids are 3.99. This leaves only a few T/S meals to pay for and even as "big eaters" a pair of 3yo's could share 1 ts kids plate. Ask the restaurant to split it so there is no plate sharing. The dining plan looks good on a full package and for older kids but add the cost of the extra ticket to the meals for a few days and it goes up to $25 a day for each 3 yo. I know the tix do not expire but as someone said above: what if you want or need the plan next time?

No the tickets do not need to be activated to access the dining plan, the DP is pooled on all the resort id's and can be used from anyone's id :sunny:

You could probably say the kids are 3 and get the dining plan for them. It expires midnight of the day you check out however, so even if you have leftover park tickets for next year, this year's trip's dining plan will be expired. If you want another dining plan when you go next year you will somehow have to book another package---using up the leftover park tickets and getting a room only ressie will not qualify you for dining plan. From what I understand, tho, you can buy a one day ticket, and that makes you eligible for a package- so if you will stay 5 nights you can buy a one day ticket (for each of you), and use that and your leftover passes for the tickets, and buy a 5 day dining plan as well. Sorry if that's all confusing.
